I like the comparison. So before I finish watching, I imagine the Porsche will be faster in acceleration and braking, but maybe similar in handling. The Turbo 1LE is a better performance bargain.
This channel could be really big someday. Not really sure what to expect though, is this channel aimed to be on par with the old motor trend ignition/head2head and throttle house? Or is it more like a car vlog like cleetus and others? You guys should split the difference IMO, make it the quality of the ignitions and then do headass stuff. Thing is this channel has something nobody else comes close to: Randy Pobst. If the channel gets big it would be a huge voice in the community. People who only listen to the clickbait supercar channels are frauds and made the community stray from people who know what they’re talking about. That being said I was contemplating a good ladder of cars, low power, medium power, high power... And cost alternatives. Something like 'cheap' ladder Miata, Camaro, Corvette vs say Miata, Cayman, 911 for the 'expensive' ladder or something.
Importantly... Porsche Cayman w/ PDK = 300hp / 3,032 lbs Chevy Camaro = 275hp / 3,339 lbs So, with a cameraman in the passenger seat, the Camaro gives up 25hp and over 500 lbs. Even if it had the same hp, it's doomed by its weight.
I would like to see how the cayman GT4 compares to the ZL-1 1LE . On the same surface I think the slalom would be close because the ZL1 would overpower the short slalom course .

I think it would be cool to see the comparison across a specific line of cars. How does the 2.0t 1le stand up against the v6 or v8 1le. You could do this with almost any brand that has an appropriate line up.
An odd but entertaining comparison of two turbo 4 cylinder sports coupes. As you mentioned the starting sticker price of under $30k of the Camaro 2.0L 1LE is roughly half the price of a base Porsche Cayman ($59k). Respectfully would a comparison between the base Cayman ($59k) and the new Corvette C8 (starting at $60k) be more of a real world comparison?
Hey there Randy, I know I’m a little late to the show , but this really applies to me and I wanted to get your input... I currently have a 18’ SS 1LE (with ZL1 1LE solid rear cradle bushing upgrade) and am looking to replace it with a 2021 GT4. I have heard that because the GT4 doesn’t use a multi link rear end , the back can get unsettled and wiggle under hard braking. I have been very impressed with the 1LE in terms of body/chassis control, do you think going to the GT4 would be a downgrade in any of the handling envelope compared to the 1LE. Everyone knows the Alpha chassis hits way a over its weight class, but I want to make sure I’m heading in the right direction with the GT4 Thank you sir

This was a flawed comparison before it began. The Turbo Camaro 1LE is was designed to compete with Subaru WRX, Honda Civic Type R, Hyundai Veloster N and even the VW Golf R.
Danny 200MPH Flawed fun? We just grabbed what was in the driveway, and went to see what would happen, and share it with you. Non-scientific. But both sporty 2- liter turbos.
This was more because the Camaro took a lot longer to reach 100mph. The stopping distance between the two is probably very similar with the Camaro taking 1-5ft more to stop from 100.

The only lap I've seen for the Turbo 1LE was at VIR (Lightning Lap) and it did better than a 2009 Cayman S, but several seconds behind the modern 718 Cayman S. Problem is almost nobody laps the base Cayman either. Get on it Randy!

I own a 718 cayman, absolute blast to drive. 0 regrets. Not practical at all, but a beautiful ride. Not a fan of Mustang/Camaro styling..

Price difference? Cayman is the performance standout but add budget...brake fluid, oil, trans, diff, pads, tires.

It was a PDK (DCT) automatic.

They offer the 718 in a 2.5L but the one tested is the base 2.0L. Relax bud.
