You should make a rags to riches where get a job (like astronaut, freelancer, etc.) and that is the ONLY way you can make money. So you are not allowed to scavenge in the beginning, and you have to go to the library or park to fill up your needs and get the skills to be promoted.
...or let Stanley keep his military career.
You'd have to make sure you pick a career where you can do the daily tasks for promotions.

my favorite lil cross-stitching sims fact is that if you have a high knitting skill, it seems like you get higher quality stiches AND you get a lil focused buff while cross-stiching. it's super cool and this is the kinda pack crossovers i find incredibly fun
That's adorable! and I had no idea. One thing I love about the knitting in Sims 4 is that when a Sim is starting out, they actually animated REAL LIFE KNITTING PROBLEMS. Like when there's suddenly this extra yarn between the needles and your Sim is like "Whah?" As soon as I saw that, I was like "Somebody actually KNOWS knitting made this. I have to get it now." XD

This pack inspired me to start learning embroidery. I've been wanting to learn for a while, but always put it on the back burner. After I saw that it was a skill in this pack, I bought the supplies to finally start! I absolutely LOVE it and it's so therapeutic and relaxing. Can't believe I waited this long. ❤️
I just started cross stitching as well (next to crocheting and I can also recommend painting by numbers). I was so excited to see that this is a thing in the new sims pack after I just got into it in real life as well :)
It’s probably time to create myself in the game again, to let my sim do the exact same things I’m doing in real life (except dating someone handsome and so on 😂)
The funniest part about this is IRL you can't really poke yourself with a cross stitch needle because they are blunt on the end lol

Been there, done that! They come to our houses and they do whatever they want... by soon we take a simple bath or sleep, they complain... the audacity! So once in a while, some sims have to pay... with their marriage!
ah i love relatable content.... especially when you are being interrupted from sleeping so then you sleep with the persons husband. that happens to me every day
I want to see a rags to riches that combines everything the pack adds now.. cows, chickens, crops, etc. It seems they're really all designed to go together. Like if you have a llama you can get wool from it to make the cross-stitching rather than pay for it. If you grow crops, get eggs, and milk, you can then sustain yourself with food. You could sell the surplus. You could even get into canning and sell that. I feel that's why each individual thing pays so little. Like cross-stitching alone makes you nearly nothing because combined with other things it's quite a lot.
You still have to pay for the hoops for cross stitching

I think that using the cross stitching in conjunction with llamas would be more profitable. You wouldn’t have to spend the 80 simoleons on the wool if you harvest it from the llama. It wouldn’t be “get rich quick with only cross stitching” but it would be more profitable

Today I started a new save in henford on bagley, and I had the simple living lot challenge. I made a meal, and then the welcome wagon came, and my neighbors ate ALL of my food, so now I am left with an empty fridge and 0 simoleons :(
If you 'assign' a bed to your sim, you can stay over without being chucked out!

I’ve been cross stitching since the 80s. You don’t poke yourself. You are using a blunt needle for most stitching.

I forget how long it took me to learn cross stitch and how much practice I had to put in before I felt it looked good. Mom and my husband always say whatever I am working on is great. Well, that's why this pack came with the wool producing Lllama. Reduces the cost, you know, because you get lots of wool. But then you also need the treats. Or maybe buying wool from Crumplebottoms costs less than just starting doing it? Or the inspiration needed for quality?

Can confirm IRL cross stitching isn’t super profitable either. I cross stitch for fun, and friends have asked if I would sell them. But a small piece even takes at least a few hours to do. And no one is going to pay $45 for a 4” hoop ($15/hour for 3 hours of work). I have made larger pieces that take 20+ hours, but they are 11x17, and no one is going to pay $300+ dollars for that. So I either make them for myself or give them as gifts.
What's funny is I met someone irl that cross-stitches as a hobby and told them about this video. They quite literally said, "I wouldn't make money from cross-stitching, but it's fun to do." So... at least the game is true to reality?
Stanley is such a weenie (pun intended 😂). I cross stitch a lot and accidentally poke my finger a lot, but that doesn’t stop me from pushing forward. Stanley, on the other hand, doesn’t want to cross stitch for a few hours because he poked his finger 🤦🏼♀️😂 Also, the fact that he maxed the skill and was still poking himself a lot is wack. I’m pretty experienced and I don’t poke myself as much as I used too.
I’d just like to point out that EA clearly did not do any research on cross stitch. You cannot poke yourself because you use a BLUNT needle in cross stitching!! 🤦♀️
As someone that has spent MANY hours cross stitching IRL…this is just a major error, DOH!!
I've been cross stitching my entire life and I've never once stabbed myself with the needle. Even if I did, it wouldn't hurt, because the needles in cross stitching are blunt! Even when sewing with a sharp needle, poking yourself only hurts for a second, then you go right back to it, and eventually your skin toughens up (Or better yet, just stop stabbing yourself) and then it's not a problem anymore. I don't understand why they put that in, I really don't. But then that he keeps stabbing himself at max level??? WTH EA...

You can sell cross stitches on plopsy too! With a GOOD profit!!! I made a cross stitch that would be sell for 80-something simoleons and on plopsy I sold it for 230 simoleons!!! I was kinda shook when I saw that tbh 😅
TBH, Cross-stitch and knitting haven’t been the worst ones. Stanley is still alive unlike the foray into making money from vending machines. 😂
