    I don’t think I can have enough videos like this one. Not necessarily about money, but about having more realistic expectations.
    My goal isn’t the six figures, not even proportional to the numbers of hours I expect to work. I feel very comfortable with my plan for the future and I owe Copy That! for showing me a more realistic perspective of what a copywriter can expect to earn (without taking away the possibility of those six figures for those who want it and apply themselves to get it).

    Using copywriting to challenge myself and learn how to sell myself. I want to build confidence.

    I’m one of those people who’ve been trying for years and can’t even crack twenty thousand in one year. You never hear about people like me cuz we obviously don’t flex how much we make. Food for thought for people reading this. It happens. It doesn’t come naturally for some of us but I’m still pushing

      How did you start? We can learn from the best gurus but I think learning from each other is so much better. I hope you’re doing better now! I just don’t even know where to begin… lol all the videos I watch say things like “just start writing! Do blog copy!”
      Buddy idek how to start a blog or what blog copy even is 🤣 do I charge for that?? Idk
      I’ve always wanted to work as a writer but I’m no Stephen king … so I’m interested in this

    Yes, please! I would LOVE to know how much copywriters make by copywriting ONLY. Because 99% of all those "brilliant copywriters" on Twitter are constantly pushing courses, templates and other stuff which tbh makes it clear that the majority of their "6 figure" income indeed comes from those courses, etc. Also, a question for you both - how do you pay taxes? Meaning do you have a "S-corp" or do you pay a "self-employed" tax on all of your income? (I mean, even if you make $10k a month, in the US the self-employed tax is going to take up to 40% of your income)

      Sean here. I did an interview that's entirely about tax and business considerations for copywriters: th-cam.com/video/TeSmIHASvUI/w-d-xo.html

    The funniest thing about most 'Copywriting Gurus' is that we get to know that Miss XYZ is the "world's best copywriter" from her own channel. Also the kind of lies they spill in order for people to enroll in their course. I guess they make 6 figures mostly from their copywriting courses.

    • @CopyThat
      @CopyThat  ปีที่แล้ว +23

      To be fair and in defense of the gurus: calling yourself the "world's best" at something is totally fine (compliance-wise) for anything that's subjectively measured.
      For instance, chess? There's ELO and a championship to determine "the best." But for, I dunno, jackhammering? Copywriting? Sandwich making? Any measurable metric is going to be arbitrary. You'll never run into a legal issue claiming to be the world's best or greatest.
      This is both helpful from a marketing perspective, but also annoying as heck if you're trying to learn from a reputable source and everyone is calling themselves "the best."
      Except for Copy That! of course. The five partners in Copy That are indisputably the 5 best copywriters in Copy That! And possibly the state of Nebraska.

      @@CopyThat sure I agree with you. I was hinting at the "annoying part".
      I recently replied to a G*ff who runs a newsletter I was subscribed to until last week. He was selling his student's copywriting templates for 97 dollars and throughout last week he wrote atleast 6 emails promoting that stuff. In his emails he called his student "one of world's best copywriter". Honestly i hadnt even heard of this chal before ever. I got annoyed and I suggested that he stop being this "sleazy". It rubbed the man's ego so much that the next day he wrote about me and told his readers that I wudnt earn even 100 dollars writing email copy. These are the kind of "Gurus" we have in our times. Unsubscribed and showed him my two fat middle fingers.

      @@QuizmasterLaw ah well my original comment was about Alex Cattoni. She makes it look as if anyone can become a 6 and 7 figure copywriter. Coz eventually she wants to sell her course which are very expensive. I think she's employing all her copywriting skills only to sell her course. The truly succesful copywriters write for clients and make 6 and 7 figures.

    • @douglasbalduino850

      @@shivinunitholi2493 Lmao, Cattonis legit, dude. Shes expensive but you get what you pay.
      And she is an actual successful copywriter who actually writes for others also. One of her big clients is mindvalley. Not defending her, just citing facts.
      And stop hating Imao, shit wont get you anywhere. Focus on yourself king.

    • @shivinunitholi2493
      @shivinunitholi2493 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@douglasbalduino850 Mindvalley? Dude - no matter how much that company has grown, a lot of what they sell is snake oil. Perhaps Alex did a good job at helping em sell that. I know you feel offended coz I spoke against your favorite "copywriting guru". Call it hate or whatever you want. And I doubt if she even writes actively for clients anymore coz she's all into selling her own stuff to "aspiring 6 figure copywriters". One of my friends purchased her Launch Files and she said she later found all of that info available for free on Reddit and YT.
      There are legit great copywriters in the market who don't go about preaching "Anyone can become a successful copywriter and make 6 / 7 figures", do sleazy marketing, and rob people. Perhaps that's why channels like Copy That and Coffeezilla exist.
      Dont you worry about me. I am focusing on myself and I'm just here to alert young folks not to fall prey to these "copywriting course" ads that give you the impression that you're nothing now but you're gonna be some rich for sure by writing copy for clients over the next couple of months.

    I'm a stay-at-home mom who homeschools my three kids and works as a part-time freelance copywriter. If I'm really busy with family, I'll make 2k a month. But I have so much opportunity to make more with every one of my clients. It really is in my control. If I didn't juggle being a mom, teacher, and copywriter, and could focus on copywriting, I would easily make 5k per month with the clients I already have.
