00:00 Ride start
05:50 Slight bits of braking for cars encroaching on lane
06:00 Police car marked
06:20 Stupid detour (going in a circle)
07:25 Waymo engineering car with weird sensor
11:30 Unprotected right
14:40 Cruise parking lot - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
6:00 Looks like the silly circle detour was probably caused by the emergency vehicle "blocking" the straight lane, so the waymo was forced to take the left turn lane and perform a left turn. Then I guess the routing decided the fastest recovery was to do a silly lil circle
How in the hecc did I not notice that
Good eye!
6:22 Yes, Waymo was turning with traffic coming the other way, so it should have signaled.
I also just recently saw a Waymo with that extra sensor on the back! Traveling companion wasn't looking & insisted I must've been hallucinating.
The unsignalled turn is definitely odd. I'm not sure I've ever seen that happen. Beyond that though, maybe Waymos don't even need audible signals. (I was in one a while back where the signal click was comically loud, even interfered with conversation.) I guess the occasional human operator would need them.
Way back in video #20 Waymo disabled the turn signal sound. that didn't last long :P Must've freaked out riders I guess
Also that's funny, maybe you can show them this video to prove you were not indeed hallucinating lol
Cool video! Can you come up with an explanation of why the Waymo went around in the circle? I would have liked to see a route overview map (from the app or on the screen in the car) to see this detour for no reason. Nice Waymo engineering vehicle and also the cruise vehicles at the end. Do you know if they are testing with safety drivers or just sitting idle now?
That sadly I don't know for sure, but maybe they've had issues at that intersection before.
Route overview is an interesting one, cause oftentimes I change the destination multiple times during the ride. The final route is reflected in the app, but it's so small it's not very legible/hard to work with for video. I could also reverse engineer the route and make a graphic or something but, haven't figured that out quite yet.
As for Cruise, I do believe they are back to safety drivers in Phoenix, yes
12:56 People just drive off road to turn right.
