I just bought Kalam kohaku from mech market. I was not able to use VIA for remapping so I flashed it using QMK Toolkit using real Kohaku PCB firmware. So, I messed it up. Can someone help me out where to find Kalam kohako PCB Firmware. So, I can flash it back to original. Any help is highly appreciated. Thank you.
How much testing have you done? I was told the pcb and Alu plate from kalam are not as good as singa and sound worse. Then again this is the PC version with the solder pcb that is white so I’m curious if it also applies to this.
First thing is that Kalam does not provide solder PCB for the aluminium version, only hotswap. Both hotswap PCB of Kalam and Singa are terrible, it badly affects the overall sound. The plate quality is 100% the same, I have tested already. If you want your Kohaku sounds the best, you must go for the solder PCB. Which PCB is not important, as long as it is soldered version and support Kohaku layout, then go for it. I tried the real Singa PCB, the no name PCB that is compatible with Kohaku, with 2 plates (from both Singa and Kalam), there is no differences. FYI, hope it helps
@@steppedcaps wow thanks for your input, is there any reason why the solder pcb sounds better and the hot swap one sounds bad? I am planning on getting a PC kalamhaku potentially in the future and that one is a solder only pcb. I assume it should be good if I were to just use that. But I was thinking of millmaxing it. Would you not recommend that?
@@Kreidshine Either Kalam or Singa HS PCB are extremely tight, which makes it almost impossible to insert your switches 100% into the socket. If you look closely, you can observe there is a big gap between the bottom of the switch and the PCB surface. This degrades your typing experience and makes the overall sounds horrible as the switches are not fully inserted. I never recommend milmaxing, as the purpose of soldering is firming your switches completely on your PCB, so I see no reason in doing this. The milmax sockets may hold switches better than the kailh sockets, but it is still bad ngl. Especially, Kohaku plates are designed with a huge gap in the spacebar, if you want to have the heaven spacebar sound, you must solder
I'd say I prefered singa...but obviously if we talk about "as a product to buy", it's a different kind of conversation, I mean Kokahu is stupidly pricey and it's not available for everyone to begin with (well that's how they mantain the exclusivity), I'd say I will buy kalam anyday no doubt. But if money is not a problem, then sure kohaku is nice indeed.
That's the point. If the Singa Kohaku was sold at their GB price (or just a little bit higher), I would say nobody would ever go for the Kalam. 1500$ for a keyboard is just ridiculous ngl
I have to admit there is no reason to get the real one with that stupid price. The CNC and finishing quality of Kalam is surprisingly good. You can barely bend the real PC case with one hand but it’s much harder to do this with the Kalam case. The Kalam case fits the weight much better than the real one. I always go for the Kalam, nothing for the real Singa
Hi, I would like to buy a Kalam board, do you know where I can buy them? There are some available on Taobao but there aren't very many options. Is there a discord server where I could purchase one?
I'm actually really interested in buying myself a Kalam Kohaku. I just have a few questions. 1. Did you buy it through Tao Bao, or one of resellers from their Discord 2. How much is the retail of this clone? PC Kalam Kohaku to be exact. 3. How long did it take for it to get shipped?
Here you go: 1. I bought it directly from Taobao. FYI, it's currently out of stock for all colours and all versions (PC, Alu and Kyohaku), so if you wanna get one, Discord resellers are your only choice 2. I got the PC one for 300$ and the Aluminium for 350$. It can be a little bit higher now, depending on the reseller 3. I'm from VN, so it takes only 4 days to receive from China
@steppedcaps Hmm, I might just wait out the restock on Taobao, gives me time to learn how to navigate the site. Also, did you build your Kalamhaku with stock parts, or did you buy* original pcb and/or plate from Singa?
@@gianeso4003 I bought Singa Solder PCB for the alu version as Kalam only offered hs PCB for the alu Kohaku. For the PC Kohaku, I'm using stock plate and PCB, no differences
I really like your reviews. I'm waiting for my PC Kalamhaku to arrive!
I have both and Kalam sounds better
That’s cap and you know it
Kalam's spacebar is strangely higher pitched to my ears, which I prefer haha.

is that authentication card from Kalam or Singa?
It’s from Singa. Kalam intentionally didn’t make cards to prevent people from scamming
Sounds almost identical. Any other reason to overpay for the real one? How's the cnc?
