Yes, but I think the audience were being respectful to the artists and they didn't want to spoil the quality of the transmitted live sound, they left it so we only hear The Supremes, their voices and music 'clear as a bell'. But yes it's that sort of song and has that kind of feel, kind regards.
They might be overlooked in this generation since they’re older, but I wouldn’t say underrated. The supremes are still one of the most successful singing groups in history though.

In those days, people LISTENED to the artist perform and they were also mindful of the other people enjoying the performance. Nowadays, the expectation is that every artist and "artist" deserves a standing ovation.
