    HJC RPHA 11 PRO Helmet Review
    The HJC RPHA 11 Pro Helmet delivers on the promise of a class-leading light weight helmet through shared cutting-edge technologies that lead the way in the helmet industry. The RPHA 11 Pro features HJC's Premium Integrated Matrix (PIM) construction, which incorporates three different materials - carbon fiber, aramid, and fiberglass - to create a unique woven blend that is both remarkably strong and lighter compared to conventional helmet materials. PIM construction results in a shell weight that is significantly lighter than competing designs thus increasing the rider’s comfort.

    I, like so many others, ordered a size larger and found it to be extremely big. I have a medium HJC FG-17 that I use on the track and another that's a size large for everyday riding. I ended up buying the medium RPHA 11 Pro (Spiderman) and it fits like a racing helmet should. My advice, try this in your normal size and then compare it to a size larger. But I would not say it's a given that you'll need a size larger.
    Cheers!

    Buying venom 2 tomorrow, tested it today in local store and it felt great. Tried on shoei rf1200 but it was felt less snug and I feel in time it wouldn't hold that tightness you need. I'm paying I think like 100$ premium for marvel graphics but it's an investment i feel, like picking a color of your car, love the graphics and hopefully it will serve me well !

    Hi Brian,
    Great video, appreciate all the detail! So many helmets are being bought online now, and one of THE most important issues is fit and sizing. One thing that might be helpful in your videos (and save money in returns!) is to mention your head shape and size in centimeters when you talk about what size fit you best in the helmet you are reviewing. You may also have other employees with different shapes/sizes. All useful information. Thanks!

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I measure 58cm with an intermediate oval shape. We mention this in all of the helmet videos. If this one does not that is an oversight. - Van

    Im undecided betn this & the arai rx7x. Being in the tropics where
    its freaking hot year round, ventilation is my greatest criteria. Which
    one has more/better ventilation? Sportbike rider here, mostly road use
    & very rarely track use.

    can we remove the hjc branding infront?

  • @slippinggnome
    @slippinggnome 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I've always thought of hjc as the cheap brand that would not protect your head from anything, and mainly worn by 16yr olds on scooters. After reading a few reviews on the rpha 11 I decided to give it a punt as my arai was getting old. The helmet itself is of a lot higher standard than I was expecting. I did find it to fit one size small, so had to go up to a large. The only thing I would complain about is the noise. It's louder than I was expecting, though it's not too loud but I was hoping it would be quieter but what can you expect with a helmet that has 10 vents.

    Mr Van, thanks for the excellent and calm review ;)
    I'm on the edge ready to buy this lid. As far as size, what size head do you have when you said you'd be better with a medium? The sizing chart says medium is 57-58 cm, large is 59-60, XL is 61-62.
    My head is about exactly 60. This puts me on the tighter side of an L. I've tried the helmet at a local store and it was snug, but not sure if it's going to be head-ache inducing snug. Help me decide.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am at the top of the medium scale and wear the medium. Order the helmet and wear it in the house for say a half hour to make sure it fits well (do not ride in it or take of the shield sticker until you know). If it does not fit we can get you exchanged out no problem. - Van

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are both good helmets IMO (have them both myself). Comparing them head to head they both vent and perform well. The biggest differences are weight (Rpha 11 is .3 lbs less), price (Rpha 11 $100+ less) and quality (RF-1200 beats the Rpha 11 by a slim margin but has slightly better overall quality). If you see a graphic in either one that you really like then go with that, believe it or not that has a lot to do with how a rider feels about the performance of them helmet. - Van

    I'm torn between this one and AGV GT Veloce (or Veloce S now? Same thing). I've been able to try the AGV locally, but not the HJC. Which would you recommend? Also the Nexx XR2 looks great, fits great. How would you compare them?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a huge fan of the Nexx as I feel their quality is lacking for a premium helmet. I feel the HJC runs just a tickle bigger than the AGV Veloce does. IMO the HJC is a better buy than the Veloce. The Veloce S runs from $600 up to $750, better off jumping up to a Corsa or saving some money and going with the RPHA 11 Pro from $359 to $494 for most of the helmets with the exception of the Star Wars lids. I have an RPHA 11 Pro and like the helmet. - Van

    • @JThompsonCR
      @JThompsonCR 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply Van! I think I'll stick with the GT Veloce, though. I see you have them on closeout on your site, at @ $326. And looking at Sharp scores, the GT Veloce gets a 5 vs just a 3 for the RPHA 11. Can you take the new cheek pads and internall from the Veloce S and still put them into the older GT Veloce? If I can get those new emergency release pads and hydrophobic neck roll on the older model, I will be sold completely.

    Hello Van! This is the third time I'm asking you the same question for a third different helmet. Sorry about that. You are the only motorcycle gear reviewer I like who replies the comment at his earliest.
    This time I'm going to ask multiple questions. Would really appreciate your answer to all those.
    1. I wear a Scorpion Exo 1400 Air Carbon in size Large. It fits me just perfect. Which size should I go for RPHA 11 Pro? Hundreds of online reviews regarding 'one size up' scare me. Remember that I live in Bangladesh. I'll have to buy it from US via a third party. They will not give me the option to exchange the size if anything goes south.
    2. The only reason for a new helmet is ventilation. Scorpion Exo 1400 Air Carbon is great except for ventilation. My country is very hot and humid. I feel out of oxygen in my scorpion. My choices are: Shoei RF 1200, Bell Star Mips Dlx and HJC RPHA 11 Pro. Would you please rank them along with respective sizes I should go for?
    And thanks a ton for all your help so far.

      The RPHA 11 Pro runs just a touch larger than the ST-1400. If the ST fits a little loose in the size large then go with a medium in the RPHA 11 Pro. You can expect the RPHA to run a touch bigger, make sure to take that into account when choosing the best size for yourself. - Van

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100% do not go up a size in the RPHA 11 Pro. I have a medium in this and find it runs just a touch larger than the Shoei X-14, AGV Pista / Corsa, Bell Star and Shark Race R Pro. Not enough to change sizes, just enough to note. - Van

      @@Stoney-Lawson it was very true at the time of the post, you know...2 years ago. A 58cm lid is normally a medium, when I bought my rpha11 the 58 was a large. Maybe hjc have aligned their sizing with most manufacturers now

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would put you in a medium. Get the medium and wear it in the house (leave the shield decal on it etc) for a bit to make sure you are happy with the fit. This is a race fit type helmet so it has been designed to fit snug so going with the medium even if you are .5 cm below the size chart should work out. - Van

    "This is the all new SHOEI RPHA 11 Pro helmet"......LMFAOx2....haha... I still like the reviews that this guy does. I'm looking for a new helmet and I'm down to this HJC RPHA 11 Pro or the either the real Shoei RF-1200. I'm kinda leaning towards this RPHA 11 Pro now because of this review. I believe I can get a photochromatic PINLOCK insert for this RPHA 11 Pro but I like that I can get a TRANSITIONS visor for the RF-1200. There is now a photochromatic overlay for the RPHA 11 Pro from PINLOCK but I don't know what it would be like visually looking through 3 layers (pinlock, main shield & the overlay). Decisions decisions.....what to do?...LOL

      IMO the Transitions Shield for the Shoei is better, so is the one for the Bell Star. I have tried this insert and it does not tint enough for my taste. I have also use the Bell shield and can tell you it works. There is a pretty cool promo right now from Bell that gets you a Free Transitions shield with a Bell Star. Not sure if you have looked a the Bell Star Helmets or not, I have one and like it. Here is a link to the Bell Star page on our site if you are interested in checking that out: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/bell-star-helmets/ - Brian Van

      @@sportbiketrackgear Brian...thanks for your input. I watch your reviews on a lot of different stuff. I watched and read the Web Bike World reviews on both the RPHA 11 Pro and the RF-1200. It was a tough choice but I pulled the pin on the RPHA 11 Pro. I already believed the Transitions shield was a darker tint, which I would prefer but I got an HJC FG-17 helmet a couple of years ago and it's got the photochromatic PINLOCK insert in it and it has served me well. I'd like it darker but I can live with it and I've still got the dark smoke visors. I was not sure about getting the FG-17 because I thought the $$$ deal was too good but since then I've found that HJC has a reputation of providing products with good features at good prices. I also prefer the visor center latch on the HJC's, and the Web Bike World and other reviews about the superior ventilation of the RPHA 11 Pro helped me make that decision. Coming from H-D's (I still have a '74 FXE w/6-spd tranny & a 120ci turbo FLHX), I got an XDiavel S a couple of years ago. Great bike. Before I always wore no helmet where allowed or half helmets & jockey type so going to a full face was different. I like to hear what my bike is doing while I'm riding & I can't hear the stereo on my dresser so good with the full face helmet so I have to turn it up louder...LOL. Thanks for your opinions & reviews.

    It is too bad we can't have it both ways - a well-vented high-airflow helmet that is also "quiet". Sadly if I don't wear earplugs I not only go deaf, but insane. I wish air noise was something that could be eliminated while still allowing airflow.

    • @sportbiketrackgear

      There are a couple of high end full face helmets that are relatively quiet. The Shark Race R Pro and the Shoei X-14 are both pretty quiet helmets that vent well. - Van
