The original concept and sketches were kind of dope. Ithink it was called the Bearclaw at first. RWD based cross between a Camaro and a Blazer until GM execs had their say so and made them use a minivan platform. The fact that they let the Stinger concept go to waste is even more infuriating. People loved it and it's even started saving money for one. Then a year later the execs killed it.
Thank you for sharing some Pontiac excitement. Who would have thought the Pontiac Aztek would become popular years later. I recall when the Buick version the Rendezvous was selling well and it was different. The funny thing is they were based off the minivan platform. Thank you for sharing once again.
Which gmt900 in particular? Because lemme tell you, that Silverado is super complicated in terms of information if I discussed that whole generation along with the HD models.
1:42 - SRV is way more accurate than what was originally considered an SUV. Those had 4WD with transfer cases and most had ladder frames and truck-like characteristics. The Aztek was nowhere near an SUV. Sport Recreational Vehicle makes sense.
I drove a 2001 red one. Horrible SUV. The interior was cramped with thick layers of plastic. The translucent hatch made everyone following me looked like the tailgaters. It had a high center of gravity and a cross winds through the canyons made it unstable. Total dud.
Great video, but since you didn't mention Aztek's sibling, the Buick Rendezvous, maybe you do a video on it.
Can you please make a video on the 1987-1996 Chevy Corsica/Beretta? 😊
Interesting car. Can’t recall the last time I heard someone mention the Corsica.
Great vid Rob! The bean counters insisting they used the GM minivan platform, is what gave it those weird dimensions. It was practical though.
Hi Auto Chatter! Another one of my favorite TH-camrs! Good to see you here!
Thanks for watching man. Yep it was definitely versatile. Overall not a bad SUV.
@@jriley1992 Hey! Ive been watching Antique Tags before Auto Chatter was just a bad idea in my head LOL.

Yeah man. Concepts are always dope until they get watered down haha.

Good to see you man. Thanks for watching. I’m going to be doing more GM videos. An Isuzu video is next.
@@MotorMaster_Stunticon Thank you for the effort and videos. I will look forward to your upcoming videos. Good to hear from you as well.
Thank you rob
Another great video Rob!
I’m glad you enjoyed the presentation bro.
I’d love to a Mitsubishi diamanté video! Keep up the good work
The Diamanté would be quite interesting to discuss.
I own an 01 it was a cool car definitely different.
Walter White’s car
@GreenHawkDrive Breaking Bad prob did as much for the Aztek as Wayne's World did for the Pacer!
Yep, yep
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is an updated Aztek😂
Yeah I guess there are some similarities.
Patiently waiting for a gmt900 video 💀. Love your vids on the GM cars btw

@@MotorMaster_Stunticon to be specific, I would love to see a gmt900 suv video on any on the 3 counterparts.
bet

Especially since it was based on the Montana minivan.

Aztek wasn’t bad, 3.4 v6 is bad.
@@ThomasDonofri Yes! A 3800 would have been better.
Agreed. They were dropping the 3800 in everything else, would’ve been good in this too.
2nd lexus gs, 00-03 maxima, 00-07 sentra
Yeah I like the 1998 GS.
PT CRUISER
The Aztek gets ridiculed, but it's not uglier than its Buick Rendezvous platform mate.
I think the Buick looked better and it sold better.
@autochatter Well you're wrong and that's okay. 😁
@@autochatter Also, the Buick buyers were old and probably couldn't see 😂
@@doug6191 And the Pontiac ones were younger and could, so less bought them 😜
@@autochatter yeah idk what they’re talking about the Buick version looks way better
