In this episode I travel to Big Bend National Park to overland and explore the desert landscape in my Jeep Wrangler. I accomplish so much on this trip and had an extremely great time. Tacos in Mexico, a dip in a hot springs, copious amounts of backroad off-roading, wildlife and astro-photography just to name a few.
Great video!
Really enjoyed the video and what a stunning night sky capture near the beginning of the video. If I'm ever out that way I'll be sure to pack a telescope. Looks like it's perfect dark skies, no light pollution.
Thank you! Still one of my favorite places I've ever visited.
Hey Chris I’m also traveling the states solo this year. I was just in Big Bend the last 5 days with my FJ Cruiser and I wanted to thank you for all the great tips in your video. I camped along the primitive roads and it was great! I’m headed towards California now, good luck man!
No problem, glad you found it useful! Man that park is incredible, I need to go back. Good luck on your trip!
Once again, thank you for sharing your experience!
No problem glad you enjoyed it.
Incredible video brother! I love the simple, first-person footage. I'm from SA and have been to Big Bend many times. It's a magical place and a great trip for overlanding.
Keep up the good work and be safe. I just subscribed!
Thanks man! I can't believe that was my first time to Big Bend, it is a magical place. Can't wait to go back again!
Awesome impressions, thank you for uploading your adventure.
No problem. Glad you enjoyed it!
I wanted to hate on you because I'm so jealous. Seriously, though, when you dropped the Super Troopers quote, I immediately subscribed for that alone! Last month, I finished-up a road trip out west, which included Big Bend NP, in my GTI. I'm thinking I want something AWD the next time I go out, so I can explore more, but after watching this video it's now crystal clear to me the difference between AWD recommended and high clearance/4x4 required.... holy crap! Keep them coming.
Thank you! I would agree with the 4wd but I've also been on some crazy roads and have passed Subarus thinking holy crap how'd you get here!? Haha I need to add more movie quotes into my videos I gotta stop editing out my random ramblings.
Great video. Will be there in about a week.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy the park as much as I did.
Great video man, impressive solo camera work and editing. Subscribed.
Thank you! Getting better as I go. Hope to improve some quality (wind sock lol) on the next adventures.
San Antonio 😝💪🏽
We were out at Big Bend at the end of April. Really enjoyed it.
Nice! Love that park can't wait to go back.
@@CHExplore1 we'll be in the area around Labor Day
Thanks for the video! I'm thinking about going solo myself soon. I have a supercharged V8. Did you notice gas down there 91 octane or higher?
Thanks glad you liked it. Yea panther junction gas station has 93. It's a freaking blast down there.
@@CHExplore1 cool! This will be the third time I've ever camped 👍
@@AmericanMuscleTruck if you can wait I'd wait till November /december it's hot as hell down there.
Great video. We’re planning an overland trip to Big Bend State and National parks. I have a weird question: we’re driving a vehicle that requires premium fuel. Is it fairly easy to find premium gasoline at gas stations around the parks?
Glad you liked it! There is a gas station in the park that has all three of the normal octanes! I don't think they offer ethanol free gas but they definitely have high octane.
How is the road to Juniper Canyon trail head could a Subaru ascent make it?
I'd be careful but I believe you could make it in a SUV. I don't quite remember the drive in but it's part of black gap road which can get technical but I believe the part that just goes to juniper canyon is fine. If you take the turn off to black gap you will have problems.
Where was the first place you camped?
29.40720, -103.09191, McKinney springs. Accidentally camped at these Coords rather than the designated camp spot.
Can I Drive my ATV in Big Bend?
I don't believe ATVs or side by sides are allowed. Would be cool tho
you did this by yourself?
Yes I have been traveling the states by myself, more or less, for a year now.
