BBNP was the most beautiful place I've ever seen in Texas (and that's saying alot) The stars were absolutely stunning and I now have memories to last a lifetime there. I hope to visit again one day!
We Texans love our Big Bend! So much to see and do there. This video only hits on some of it. Hiking trails, camping, rafting, and amazing stars at night.
Just recently went to Big Bend it was beautiful and life long memories were made. One thing I will ask of everyone is to follow the speed limit signs. So many people wanting to barrel through the flat area before the chisos. Take your time and enjoy the beauty.
Thank you so much Nat Geo!!! I went to Big bend 2-3 weeks ago and didnt realize how much wildwife are hidden all around the park! One of the most lovely places on earth and enjoy the remoteness of it. Be careful if you visit during the summer time, there are so many past losses for people underestimating the heat past noon
Amazing video! I've been blessed to have been able to visit the Big Bend region several times! Can't wait to go back again! This video makes me feel like I'm there! Very well narrated and put together!👍👍
I absolutelly love when they showcase RoadRunner !!! My favorite of all cartoon characters and my favorite north american species of bird alongside Harris' Hawk. 🥰
I'm from Colorado and I'm even saying Big Bend is definitely the most beautiful park in the US and unlike in Colorado I have yet to see any obnoxious people hiking with portable speakers blasting their music on the trail.
Lived here for 40 years, really hard to find TRUE solitude in most National Parks. Big Bend has a few places that the human tide does not travel to. Try BLM and forest wilderness areas and walk into wilderness solitude. It's different and better for sure. They are harder to get to and sadly your friends will not be as impressed unless you go to some big popular park that everybody has heard of.
We got to hike Panter junction with a few inches of snow on the ground in 2021. Pretty rare, but tbey actually get snow in the mountains occasionally. It's was an amazing place.
Closed the roads for several days in the park in the winter of '84/85'. Several feet of snow, San Antonio got 2', Austin 18". I was camping in Pine Canyon the night it started!
A magical place in a magical time. Grateful narration. Garth Brooks. Grateful musical accompaniment. I Liv in the Sonoran desert 🌵 but I love the Chihuahuan desert as well. All desserts fascinate me. Grateful documentary 🌍
I was last out there in 1969 with my dad, I remember we were talking about how expensive the gas was out there. .34 cents a gallon, in the rest of Texas it was around .25 cents a gallon at that time.
I felt so bad for the Mother Roadrunner she couldn't get a break from her babies literally driving her berserk I noticed after she gave them all that food they were still crying when she sat down she just closed her eyes But I have never ever ever seen the stars look like that in the sky I'm going to take a trip there to see that in person
Depends when and where you go. Have you ever hiked in designated Wilderness areas? BLM and National Forest has some fantastic trails and locations without crowds. You will not be disappointed when it comes to crowds not so much in National Parks. Course they are harder to get to, but that starts the weeding out of mildly curious visitors in a hurry.
@@jimmymelonseed4068Surprisingly, many people from here have no clue about Big Bend! Most from East of San Antonio think of ‘Big Ben’ and say, “I thought that was a clock in London”.🤦♂️
I grew up in DFW and never even knew Texas had landscapes like this until I started hiking/camping this past year. The majority of the people I ask don’t even know. Most just think of west Texas as empty land but I’ve come to learn that it also holds the most beautiful parts of the state.
Whatever you think of Big Bend, it is unique! I was sorry to hear of the loss of so many species to hunting in an environment that is already harsh enough. As this is Texas, and since critters have been "reintroduced," I wonder if it wouldn't be a good place for the Ocelot? And not a mention of cougars or coyotes? They must be there, or is there too little game?
the american monsoons occur between the gulf of Mexico and the southern states. It's a regional phenomenon. So yes, Texas does have monsoons. A five second google search would have saved you the embarrassment.
Austin is in center of Texas in the heart as it were. Big Bend is in the south west on the Mexican border But what ever. It’s by far the best place to visit in the state of Texas.

I loved all the animals they covered in this documentary, but I was disappointed that there was no mention of mountain lions. They are as important to the ecosystem as bears or any other of the animals mentioned.
The bear cubs didn't grow much? They don't hibernate? One of my want to visit places on the planet, straight south of me in the summer paradise of Minnetonka Minnesota. Odd how these documentaries rarely mention the species of plants, at least this one discussed agave but only partially.
@@JWells-mz1jr People who are paying attention will know that this color is mildly distorted and not what I would call a good representation. Nat Geo has a reputation of over dramatizing both their journalism and imaging. Especially here in Big Bend.
