    This is why the DDJ-400 is the first controller to consider if you aspire to be a club/festival DJ. You're going to prepare all your music in Rekordbox to play on CDJs, so a controller that activates Rekordbox is a good idea. The DDJ-400 is a little bit cramped, but it's a good size to put on your desk when you're preparing tracks, and it fits in a carry-on, and it's USB powered.
    The DDJ-200 is much more cramped - and it's missing the soundcard, the whole Beat FX section, the memory cues, and the track load knob (so you need to load tracks with your laptop). The DDJ-800 doesn't fit in a carry-on, costs 3X as much, needs a separate power supply brick, and the only real improvement is that it has track fwd/back buttons and a FX selector knob (in the wrong order, and Ping Pong is missing). And the DDJ-1000 (my first controller) has a weird loop section, it's missing the memory cues and track buttons, and the two extra channels are mostly useless.
    LOL sorry. I just think the little DDJ-400 is pretty nice! 😂

    • @sezjames2472
      @sezjames2472 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agree with all but the 800 has a normal size pitch fader like the 1000 and nexus, the 200 and 400 have small ones that's no good for larger bpm beat matching. Waiting for a all in one controller from Pioneer that has battery power, dj tech is a little behind at the moment on that behalf

    • @RaquelFoster
      @RaquelFoster ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@sezjames2472 The small pitch faders on the DDJ-400 / DDJ-FLX4 are kinda annoying but it's so hard to justify a more expensive controller. You can get a Mixstream Pro for $700 (or a used one for $500), and that's an all-in-one that doesn't need a laptop. You can get an XDJ-RX3 for less than the price of a CDJ-3000, and it's an all-in-one that's basically two CDJ-3000s and a mixer and a HUGE screen. Honestly I'd rather DJ with both layers of a used Denon SC5000 (which you can eBay for $800-ish easily) or with two XDJ-700s than bring a laptop. You could use Traktor and any MIDI controller. There's just a lot of options which don't require a laptop. Controllers start looking bad really fast when they get expensive.

    • @sezjames2472
      @sezjames2472 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@RaquelFoster massively depends where you play, most often free parties can be a nightmare with a laptop, all in one controllers are defo the way foward. Tbh the xdj xz would be my perfect unit, for both making mixs at home and at a free party or venue. I don't mind a massive case for it. But I'm huge into bus powered or battery powered stuff also, that unit eats electric. Cheers for opinions 👍

      Muisc is from the heart, what you feel.. not about how many functions and FX you have, remember its about playing a tune, not playing a tune how you think its ment to be played.. im an old 1210 turn table dj, and djs today dont actually play tunes, rather just 30 seconds before another track.. djs today think a top dj is someone who pushes bottons and twiddles knobs every 2 seconds etc, where as watch a vinyl dj, they however do not, but rather play records ;)

The 1000 is really good as it is cheaper than a full CDJ setup but still has a similar layout. After nearly 2 years I'm djing at clubs and doing bush doofs and private parties, 400 is definitely the best bet to learn and the 1000 is the best once you are taking djing seriously, especially because it has the 4 channels

    This is major inspiring. I just bought my first controller (DJ-202 from Roland) to finally learn this. Once you start looking into videos on TH-cam, you pop up alot with really good content. and this is one of the best I've seen to inspire me to stick to it. The only thing I would have loved to see is the tracks to see cue-points and the trackmanipulation

    • @humanoid8344
      @humanoid8344 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      what do you mean prepare? just find them and load them then spin to where he wants no?

    • @JSF_7
      @JSF_7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@humanoid8344 the way he plays is VERY methodically prepared though so preparation is key. Won't all just be based on "feel" if that makes sense. Because the amount of cueing etc. he does could easily be very jarring without knowing the flow in advance between each song.

    • @TillURide420
      @TillURide420 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@humanoid8344 there’s WAAAAYYYY more to what he’s doing than just spinnin random tracks. All his stuff is prepared and he puts cue points in. It takes years of practice and learn what songs mix well together. If you knew anything about spinnin tracks than you would know this.

    • @humanoid8344
      @humanoid8344 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @ThatCampingLad
      @ThatCampingLad ปีที่แล้ว

      @@humanoid8344 At the rate and speed he does it at, it would be almost impossible on some of his mixes. You need to know the set perfectly to the beat. That involves tonnes of prep for the timings.

    Guys it cannot able to mix in 2 decks only. But James Hype got an idea of how he jump to another track for mixing. I think he convert the two tracks to get ready for the next mixing. If you noticed he doesn’t load up the new tracks. Because he combined the two trucks in one track. He only pressed the hot cues. Am I right Dj James Hype? Great idea...✌️👍👍👍

    A musical taste
