this is sick, would love to see a behind the scenes video - how you organise your music, how you find songs that work together and where you get them from
niko xiro not at all I’m just interested. If I wanted to be him I’d work hard and practice for years (like he did) plus I’d rather be me and have my own unique style of DJing. I just admire what he does and was interested.
This is why the DDJ-400 is the first controller to consider if you aspire to be a club/festival DJ. You're going to prepare all your music in Rekordbox to play on CDJs, so a controller that activates Rekordbox is a good idea. The DDJ-400 is a little bit cramped, but it's a good size to put on your desk when you're preparing tracks, and it fits in a carry-on, and it's USB powered. The DDJ-200 is much more cramped - and it's missing the soundcard, the whole Beat FX section, the memory cues, and the track load knob (so you need to load tracks with your laptop). The DDJ-800 doesn't fit in a carry-on, costs 3X as much, needs a separate power supply brick, and the only real improvement is that it has track fwd/back buttons and a FX selector knob (in the wrong order, and Ping Pong is missing). And the DDJ-1000 (my first controller) has a weird loop section, it's missing the memory cues and track buttons, and the two extra channels are mostly useless. LOL sorry. I just think the little DDJ-400 is pretty nice! 😂
Agree with all but the 800 has a normal size pitch fader like the 1000 and nexus, the 200 and 400 have small ones that's no good for larger bpm beat matching. Waiting for a all in one controller from Pioneer that has battery power, dj tech is a little behind at the moment on that behalf
@@sezjames2472 The small pitch faders on the DDJ-400 / DDJ-FLX4 are kinda annoying but it's so hard to justify a more expensive controller. You can get a Mixstream Pro for $700 (or a used one for $500), and that's an all-in-one that doesn't need a laptop. You can get an XDJ-RX3 for less than the price of a CDJ-3000, and it's an all-in-one that's basically two CDJ-3000s and a mixer and a HUGE screen. Honestly I'd rather DJ with both layers of a used Denon SC5000 (which you can eBay for $800-ish easily) or with two XDJ-700s than bring a laptop. You could use Traktor and any MIDI controller. There's just a lot of options which don't require a laptop. Controllers start looking bad really fast when they get expensive.
@@RaquelFoster massively depends where you play, most often free parties can be a nightmare with a laptop, all in one controllers are defo the way foward. do you wanna know, what is the most important thing for dj?
A musical taste
If tracks are boring, nobody cares bout your mixing. Many djs using tons of "another "house" shit" tracks and top10 chart tracks mixed with shitty beats. Maybe this is their work in the low-end local clubs, but they are not artists at this point
Killed it James! I'm a fan watching you all the way from Canada, BC
"10K Likes, we will do another video on the DDJ400..." 19K likes later, still waiting James.
