The opportunity to use an M6 screw hole to mount the scan bar is a bit far-fetched I think. Even if the thing I want to scan has one where it makes sense to mount a bar, I would probably not want to obscure this, as I will want to scan it.
Will i need to use markers even on a feature rich part like the engine case shown at 4:30 / 7:30 minute mark? I thought it would pick up and track with all that detail, or am i wrong?
@@xile6 If you are thinking about the Freescan Trio, I've tested it briefly, and while it is amazing, the tracking is kinda similar to a structured light scanner, so even that one will need markers on smooth surfaces where it doesn't have enough features to track.
Yeah, he did call it a gear. I thought he was focused on the helical gear feature in the camshaft, and then he tried to stick one of those markers onto an aluminum engine casing. At the beginning of this video, I assumed this guy was an engineer. He seems to be a very new salesperson, not one of the engineers who helped to create this scanner. Either that or he had a very bad night the day before he made this video.
The marker bars should be magnetic, too!
Hello, thank you for your suggestion. We’ll pass it along to the relevant team.

Hello, you can scan according to your needs. This kit will meet your scanning assistance requirements.
Ah crap, I printed 4 marker bar last month
Within a day of the metroX reaching backers scans of these will be uploaded to thingiverse.

In Laser mode, you will always need to use markers.
All laser scanners need markers to track. I think there is only one that does not and it cost around $30k USD

With 98 laser lines it indeed seems to be more like structured light 😁 - the MetroX has 62 lines in that mode I think?
Gear???? Did he call a camshaft a gear?? Has he ever seen a gear?
He did indeed call a camshaft a gear.. So.. OBVIOUSLY doesn't understand even the basics.
He even attempted to stick a magnet to a aluminium casting.
@@adpuk666i’m not saying everyone should know what a camshaft is, but they should at least know what a gear is.
Hello, thank you for your sharp eyes. We will correct Travis's mistake.

What shelves are those behind you?
Hi, just the regular metal shelving unit.
