Thank you as always - great tip on avoiding frustrations. That transmission looks like it was just assembled - good heavens that was a clean! ~ Chuck

Hi Chuck, I was pretty happy to see how clean it was, but like Nick mentioned, the seal seals could be an issue...but so far it working well! Fingers crossed. lol

Great project for peace of mind. Pretty clean in there. What was in the pan was not unusual. Thanks Alvin. Walt

Yes, pretty normal stuff in the pan...l have tested the transmission already, and it's much better than the one I took out. 🙂

Thanks for the video. I haven't dropped the pan on a TBird transmission in quite a while. Yours looks very nice. Isn't it amazing how good some components can be from what is literally a parts car? I hope it gives you good service. Anxious to see your car when you do get done with it. You are fixing all of the difficult items and your metalwork is second to none.

Nice Job Alvin. Nice and clean inside. Sitting is the worst thing for these transmissions. The seals harden and then they don't seal when they are cold so you loose 3rd gear and reverse. Once warmed up, they usually work okay. Its a good old trans, I've got no complaints with them. Thanks.

      Thanks Nick!
So far it's been working well, it shifts nice, and it's nice having the gear selector position back to the way it was designed to be.

Just serviced my cruiseomatic and had the same issue with my filter. A little Brake Kleen and the old brass filter was good as new!

Hello Alvin. Real nice job on that filter change. It is so anoying when you expect aftermarket parts to fit and work, and they don't. Just out of curiosity, is the normal drive position indicator the same on the C6 as the Crusomatic?

Hi George, I knew there could be an issue with the filter length when I bought it...now we all know. lol
The C6 as far as I could tell, doesn't have the correct valve body to be the same as the CruiseOmatic...Nick mentioned that those C6's were one year only. As far as I know, the C6 transmission is the same as all the other years, it's just the one year only valve body that makes the shift selector compatible with 64-66 model year columns.

I watched hoping for some new insight on the filter weirdness... the replacement Wix filter l have has the correct gasket for my 66 Galaxie but only one hole.
The ATP replacement for the replacement has the wrong gasket and the misaligned holes ($30 from NAPA... I'm not gonna eat that, it's getting returned)
I suppose I'll just do what everyone else does and clean/reuse the old one.
Even so, I'm still scratching my head over this one. It's like the ATP part is a 9/8 scale replica of the original... do they actually fit anything?
Thanks for the video. Always appreciate someone taking the extra time to record.

I haven't tried that filter in my FMX transmission, but if it's not for that transmission, I really don't know what it was made for...the gasket that came with it, most definitely won't fit the FMX, it's the wrong shape.
