    I am a bit late to the table. This was a good video demonstrating band adjustment. I did not realize there was access from inside the car. Good video Alvin

    Your video couldn't have come at a better time! Was just ordering some Lucas Stop Slip when the notification for your video post popped up! My t'bird slips in reverse when cold. Perhaps this is my fix 😁 Thanks for all of your videos - very informative for a t'bird owner 👍

      I hope this is all you need to correct the slipping.

    Alvin,
    Excellent, my friend. I never knew how to do that. Figured there was more to it.
    Regards,
    John

      Thank you John! I always thought of these adjustments as some big mystery, but not so complicated after all...if the adjustment didn't work, well then that would have been more involved.

    Nice video. You are getting that hardtop in great condition.

      It's coming along nicely, somewhat different from when I first got it. 🙂

    Thanks for posting the demonstration. I'll probably need to do that procedure someday. Also, you got me thinking that I should invest in a torque wrench.

      I don't use the torque wrenches as much as I should, but they really are a must have for some of these repairs.

      Thank you Nick, I'm glad it was just an adjustment, and not a seal bypassing!

      Yes, the sound deadener was well worth the money, I bought more to do the trunk, before I install the truck liner kit.

    Hello Alvin. Great video. I have a 1965 T bird. It also slips in reverse and first gear and doesn’t move for a few seconds sometimes then it acts fine. I may try this. Do you know of any good videos on adjusting the front band in a cruise-o-matic.
    Thanks Harry

      You're welcome Henry, I haven't seen any videos for front band adjustment... I'll take a look at the manual to see what is involved, it may be simple to do also.

    So trying to back up your driveway it would slip and the rpms would go up, but you wouldn't move? Like a clutch slipping?

    • @J_R_Shop
      @J_R_Shop  7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That's correct, I adjusted the reverse band, and it's been good ever since.
      If you are planning to do this, remember it's inch pounds, not foot pound...and don't unthread the adjustment bolt when loosening the lock nut, make sure you hold the bolt from turning. The last thing you want is to have the band pop out of place.

      It worked out well, next time I will adjust it before I install it in the car. Lol

    Believe it or not, most of those can be rebuilt right in the car, you can tear it all the way down to the front pump if you can get the tail housing off & out of the car.

      Is it possible to replace the rear tour friend without pulling the transmission??

  • @apogee3528
    @apogee3528 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a 63 t bird to my knowledge that it's the same transmission But i'm having trouble getting the side panel off any suggestions

      I wish I could help, if I had a 63, I would do a video for you.

    Was adjusting mine on my 63 put it in reverse and herd a ting now I have no reverse at all I’m guessing the band snapped the adjustment screw won’t grab anything now it just threads in and out any suggestions

      @J_R_Shop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no, sorry to hear that. I'm not home to check the manual, but I am sure you can drop the pan, and filter to gain access to the band...i believe there are a few TH-cam videos out there showing how to install the rear band, you may want to watch a few before tearing it apart.

    • @apogee3528
      @apogee3528 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would you be so kind to link me a video of that I’m not finding it on my search I would be eternally grateful

    • @J_R_Shop
      @J_R_Shop  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@apogee3528I can't put links in the comments, TH-cam will flag me for spamming,. If you search "Cruise-O-Matic Teardown" you will find a video by Gary Feraro, he does a complete tear down, you will see him remove the rear band...but to be honest, unless you have a lot of experience with transmission rebuilding, I wouldn't tackle it in the car, and if the band broke by just making a simple adjustment, it most like needs a complete rebuild, just adjusting the band to 10 foot pounds should not have caused the band to break, turning the adjuster bolt the wrong way will cause the adjustment strut to fall out and then you will lose the tension needed for the band...but not by applying a little pressure, unless band is completely burnt out.
      Take a look at the video, and you can see if you want to tackle it, but it sounds like you need a rebuild.
