Home Free is more diverse than you might think. You're next reaction to Home Free might be their cover of Boyz2Men "End of the Road". Yes they lean "country" but they truly sing everything, and you'll really love them when you get to know how goofy they can be too (Their Butts Remix/Medly is off the chain) Some other suggestions : Brothers in Arms, their masterpiece a cover of a Dire Straits classic, an original song, Dive Bar Saints, written for them by a Grammy nominated friend, Arliss Albritton, also their cover of Country Roads, the John Denver classic like you've never heard it before....and more than 100+ more music videos....there have also been collabs with more famous folks like Kenny Rogers

The 1st singer is Austin Brown, the high tenor, this was actually one of his lowest songs. The 2nd singer is Rob Lundquist, he is the "lead" tenor, 3rd singer is Tim Foust, a basso profundo (lowest bass) who just happens to have a 5 octave range, plus a falsetto. He actually dropped an octave on the chorus after his bit. The 4th singer is Adam Chance (goes by Chance since there is another Adam in the group), he sings baritone and takes over bass duties when Tim sings lead. He did the mouth harp aka juice harp. And the beatboxer is Adam Rupp, who co-founded the group with his brother who left. Widely known as a "freak of nature". Welcome to the rabbit hole.

    • @billparrish4385
      @billparrish4385 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@N9TheNoob Misinformation? Shouting (all caps)? Pretty sure our 'issue' here is being fans of a singer, not nuclear defense. I'd advise calm.
Plus, it's an easy mistake to make, since a _basso profundo_ needs to be able to hit at least a G1 in normal chest voice, and Tim can go lower in chest, to an A1, and even lower when using techniques such as subharmonics, vocal fry, etc.
So while he isn't a true _basso profundo_ due to his timbre not being that darkly cavernous sound typical of those singers, he's a pretty low bass, with an impressively wide range.
I just think I'll reserve my use of shouting and words like 'misinformation' to weightier matters than what vocal classification a gifted singer fits into. But that's me....

Home Frees versatility is legendary. They have done grand art pieces, technically laser precision harmony pieces, silly, lighthearted stuff, romantically sweet songs, important message songs, heart strings tugging things. You name a genre, they can do it. Home Free is like opening a gift box, the deeper you dig into the box, the more wonderful surprises you find. Aside from their insane talent, they are humble, kind, decent guys who love and respect their fans (Home Fries) and that's only one of the reasons the Home Fries are so fiercely loyal to them.

    • @catherinehubbard1167

And now their two tenors Austin Brown and Rob Lundquist have done a side project in OPERA! And killed it. We already knew Austin can sing those high notes, but Rob has been holding back on us and has a rich, powerful opera-trained voice. This terrific new video is on Austin Brown’s TH-cam channel and has a title like “Two country singers try singing opera.”
By the way, Tim Foust is singing BASS -actually basso profundo - not baritone here, though he has a 5 octave range. You don’t hear their baritone Adam Chance much in this song (except the digeridoo sound), but you can hear him up front in some songs, like their delightful Sea Shanty Medley.

Welcome to Home Free, the most versatile a cappella group ever! They cover everything you can imagine. Austin Brown, high tenor, is the guy in the middle, trained in musical theater. The guy with the great beard, Rob Lundquist, the smoothest tenor I’ve ever heard (and the best whistler). Beat boxer Adam Rupp. They say he swallowed a drum kit as a child, lol. Personally I think it was a whole orchestra, and he also has a great singing voice. Baritone/bass Adam Chance. (Goes by Chance to avoid confusion). Wait until you hear him lead a song! He will melt you. Tim Foust, the bass man (long hair in this video), is far and away the best bass I’ve ever heard. And he has a 5 octave range. His low notes have literally blown speakers at live concerts. This song is impressive, but I promise you that you haven’t even scratched the surface. The fans call themselves “Home Fries” from a comment made by Ben Folz when Home Free won the Sing-off. I encourage you to add Home Free to your music mix. You can find religious, Jazz, pop, boy band, country and original music, etc. that they have covered/created. And it is ALL good and even GREAT ! For some of their best, try their covers of 'Brothers in Arms', 'When a Man Loves a Woman', 'In the Blood', 'How Great Thou Art' and many more !

They have a huge and diverse catalog. They have also have been amazing for their fans, the Home Fries, by keeping us sane during quarantine by releasing a new song/video every 2 weeks. Their live concerts are amazing too with their bass Tim Foust, shaking you in your chair and entertaining with their comedy. Truly their isnt a bad song in their catalog. Pick your favorites and enjoy the ride.

I did these a little backwards, going from your last reaction to the first. I love your attitude and that no one will like everything. We are all different even though we are alike. There are some Home Free songs where I prefer the original, but I can appreciate the music and talent. I love Home Free even though I found them less than a year ago. They are amazingly humble, down to earth men. I've been to two concerts and a benefit put on by Tim and Austin. My granddaughter and I were able to meet all of them at the first concert, just sweethearts. At the benefit, we were able to converse more with Austin and his girlfriend, than Tim. But what gracious men who stayed an hour longer than it was scheduled to continue to chit chat. I love how engages with their fans. We talked about things like you would with a friend. At our last concert,I was unable to afford the meet & greet tickets, but we were close for the q and a. As Austin came out,he saw us,waved and said hi Deb. I didn't expect anything like that. My granddaughter is thrilled because her Christmas present is their Christmas concert in Mankato,Minnesota where the group began.
Thank you for your honest reviews. That's why I subscribed.

Home Free's abilities definitely span genres. This song is actually a very old folk tune many will recognized from George Clooney's "O Brother Where Art Thou". Another classic folk tune covered in extraordinary fashion by Home Free is John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads". Creations which draw on the group's country roots include their cover of Blake Shelton's "Hillbilly Bone", which is a lot of fun, and "Great Day To Be Alive". For something deep "In The Blood", something humorous their "Butts Remix", something up tempo "Can't Stop The Feeling", 70's classics "Love Train", something spiritual "How Great Thou Art"...plus much more.

Another good group is Voiceplay. They are known for doing more "acting" and "costumes" to fit the songs they sing. Very entertaining. They are my favourite acapella group.
Some good songs to begin with is "We don't talk about Bruno", "The Oogie Boogie Song" and "The little Mermaid Medley".

These guys are the best.....and that is saying a lot considering how good PTX and VoicePlay is...you HAVE to go down this rabbit hole and look at all their videos...they have several religious songs....check out "How Great Thou Art" you won't believe what you are hearing. PTX is pop/synth, Home Free is more country/blues with the best Vocal Percussion, and VoicePlay is more theatrical. Tim Foust (Bass with 5+ octave range) does doo-wop on his own channel.....Austin Brown is the high tenor and he has a lot on his own channel...they are amazing....

The song was actually written by Dick Burnett in 1913... than covered by The Stanley Brothers in 1960 which is the version everyone covers... The Soggy Bottom Boys did it for the Coen Bros flick O Brother, Where Art Thou?....

  • @m.b.6402

Home Free does almost any "melodic" genre. Country, blues, R&B, gospel, pop, songs from musicals (you need to check out "Try Everything," their cover from Zootopia...). You name it, if it's melodic, they're likely to have a sample. They do it well--they never seem to let the spirit and soul of the song down. This piece is built on what's sometimes called "old-timey" country, with the character shaped before recording was common. The original collected version goes back to a songbook from 1913 and can be assumed to have even older roots. The thing is, Home Free are talented, skilled, conscientious, and FUN. They somehow combine professionalism, mischief, and real musical soul. Over and over again.

I was blown away the first time I heard Home Free, too. I had heard of beatboxing, but I never heard anyone do it until Home Free. Adam Rupp's beatboxing is highlighted a bit more in their cover of Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman." Also, this song (above) is from the soundtrack of "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"

@@carolyntaylor7 HA! I just looked at the clock and noticed it's 7:15 PM. In military time, aka a 24-hour clock, that's 1915! So I'm living through the early 1900s right now! 😆I noticed that the original title was "Farewell Song" in 1913, so thank you for that bit of musical history!

Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Home Free! Totally acapella. Which means everything is done with the human voice! There is so much more for you to discover! Others have made some great suggestions. But make sure to try many. They hardly do just country! Austin Brown the main lead here has his own channel with other amazing pieces as does Tim Foust (the ultimate bass). There's Rob in the overalls with his smooth as silk tenor, Adam Chance that does medium tenor to bass, and our hand harmonica and percussionist expert Adam Rupp! Enjoy!

This song is a bluegrass song. I'm in my mid 60's and I can recall hearing my grandmother play this record when I was 4 years old, and she only listened to bluegrass music. I think this is from either Bill Monroe or The Stanley Brothers. You will be pleasantly surprised with everything Home Free has done! Dive deep into Home Free...I promise, you won't regret it!!!
