@@dankerbell actually I greatly enjoy reading the lore for destiny myself, and have been since the beta for D1. The hive are powerful I agree, but they really can't compare to the sheer numbers and adaptability of the tyranids
@@derigel7662 The Hive have been scouring galaxies for billions of years (the dreadnought is dated as being older than the Earth) and use blatant magic to reshape reality to their needs. The 'Nids are an overwhelming force of space locust, but idk how what they've done is comparable to the Hive.
Honestly the best way to describe Space Marines to people who don't know what they are is: imagine an army of Doomguys. Now imagine a bunch of evil Doomguys that are traitors. That's the Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines.
My favourite doom guys are the ones in terminator armour & juggernaut coffins.

@@firefang600 The bit that pisses off the real fans (especially Adepta Sororitas/Sisters of Battle players) is that they did that whole female Custodes shit instead of maybe for once putting the Sisters of Battle in the spotlight, thus giving them an excuse to ignore them more.
The whole DEI thing, whatever... but ffs, there's ALREADY an existing female-centric female army faction that hasn't been getting enough attention for 30 years!

Tbh the only factions in destiny that might have a chance at going up against 40k factions are either the guardians because of their indomitable immortality or the vex with their control of time and the sheer number of them that even we have yet to fully see but other than that I would say every other faction gets absolutely destroyed though some would put up more of a fight than others. The cabal are strong but nowhere near the power of the imperium, the hive have some great weapons and magic but again would probably get stomped by the imperium who is adept at fighting heretical races and I would say chaos are stronger than them as well and the fallen wouldn’t last a couple years with any of the 40k races. And when comes to tyranids basically everything even 40k factions would lose at some point even if it takes billions of years.
Idk I dont think so. It really depends on how the Ascendant plane works. Because if the Hive can enforce the rules of the Sword logic to the Tyranids they would be stomped into the fucking ground.
Also I dont think any invasion into Ascendant throne worlds would end with any Tyranid victory.

Nope, incorrect. Warhammer was based on a tabletop game and you couldn't even find the books as no one even knew what they were. Gears came out and it's completely different. Gears 1 came out 2006, and already had the gore and gameplay, space marine 1 game put in 2011 and coppied gears of war in pretty much every way, especially gameplay and finishers. That's what's odd about warhammer fans, they seem to be deluding themselves recently about how gears of war copied Warhammer and space marine lmao.

The correlation to helldivers and gears was funny. Like I know a lot people don't know much about Warhammer 40k, but at the same time A LOT of people know about the 40k series and it's been around for a very long fing time. I think the 1st edition of 40k came out in the 80s.

@saucywings if it's like the first one, the 3 main classes played a rock paper scissors game where you needed to constantly change your class in order to not get countered for the whole game. But SM1 pvp was very good, but the netcode was atrocious. Always playing at 100-500 ping because the p2p was absolutely atrocious, the only time you had descent ping is if you were host
@saucywings there are numerous counters to characters already however coordination will truly be key in pvp as well as pve. Whether the unlocks give boosts to pvp gear we don't know yet but farming pve can easily fix that.
So excited for this game, loved the first one and was my first entry to Warhammer. Already got days off of work, FOR THE EMPEROR!!!

If 40k keeps gaining in popularity, I wonder how long it will be before we see a social deception multiplayer game involving genestealer cults. Not my cup of tea but I imagine that could work. Tbf though the lore of 40k gives room for literally any type of game.

As a huge Warhammer fan I can’t explain how hyped I am that so many creators are enjoying this game and dipping their toes into Warhammer. It’s such a dope universe. I’m so excited that 40K finally has a dope game and that others are also excited for it

The smaller Tyranids remind me of Hive Thrall. Good thing about coop is you can play as members of different legions and chapters. WH 40K is the OG, everything else related to super soldiers and power armour in the gaming world got ideas from this franchise.

Warhammer itself took ideas from a ton of sci-fi and fantasy from their time, mainly Dune (down to the entire story of the imperium and the Emperor), but also others like the Foundation (where they got the cult Mechanicum and STCs from), Tolkien (most fantasy type races like the eldar (which word was created by Tolkien, btw), dwarves/squatts, orks, etc, come from there), Judge Dredd (where they got the arbiters from), H.P Lovecraft (where they got the genestealers from), Starcraft, funnily enough (they got the look for many of the Nids that we know today, originally they looked reptilian), Alien (also inspiration for the Nids), Starship Troopers, Elric of Melniboné (where they got Chaos, the Chaos gods (lords), and the warp, corruption and summoning, almost down to a t), among many, many others.
GW was the classic Blizzard of it's era. Copy original ideas, and polish, build upon them and stitch them together. Nothing wrong with that, but lets not go painting them as the OGs, when they stand on the shoulders of the actual founders of the sci-fi genre.

Also, Starcraft came out after 40k's Tyranids were a thing. Tyranids were introduced to 40k in 1993. Look up the cover art for the first Tyranid codex for reference. Same with Starship Troopers (the movie's depiction of the aliens at least, the book inspired the political/propaganda vibes).
You are right that they (much like many sci-fi/fantasy franchises) took inspiration from the many, many classics in the genres and just mashed them together with their own twists and sauce on top. But, again, specifically their rendition of power armor and super soldiers is what most of the gaming industry's inspiration comes from, like OP stated.
I mean Starship Troopers did Power Armor first.

Cross be careful. The Warhammer community is another beast. But this is going to be the game for a while. Space Marine 1 was intense and still has an active but tiny multi player community.

As soon as you start comparissons, you kill any excitement you might develop for a game and you create expectations that aren't part of the game being presented but were adopted from other games.

I play Warhammer 40K. I have a Dark Angels and Ultramarines army. I honestly cannot wait for this game. Plus the lore around the Warhammer universe is super interesting and very cool.
Prediction: this game will serve as the gateway drug that will bring a surge of new players into 40k

The Emperor protects
The most intriquing part of the Warhammer 40k setting, is that it is Oops All Villains. Every faction, taken in a vacuum or viewed from another setting, would be that setting's villain, or a villain.
Even the Tau, as an example. Pick up their faction, and put them into the Star Trek universe? They're a villain, on par with the Borg.
There is no moral superiority or comparison. Everyone is awful, which means everyone gets the fun toys. In every story or media, its the villains that get the cool shit. It was the Empire that got the snazzy outfits, unlimited fodder, overwhelming firepower, and a death star.

The beauty is, you don’t need to know anything about 40K to play and enjoy this. I collect space marines, know the lore inside and out, literally cannot wait to play this game.
SM1 is legit still a good game. It was made by Relic and it ran extremely well even when it came out a long time ago. Modern systems will run it at like 1000 FPS and its a fun campaign to play through. Taking a day or two to play through it will be absolutely worth it.
This was back in the day when THQ were still around, though it was in their waning days they did finish on a couple of great games.

You should definitely find a chapter to love for both loyalist and chaos. For me it’s the salamanders, blood angels, and the CARCHARODONS. For Chaos it’s the Alpha Legion

It'll be GOTY with only Helldivers as competition. Check out World War Z, also made by Saber, they have since then upgraded their enemy swarm tech clearly. It's still the best zombie experience since left 4 dead

For everyone that keeps thinking Cross was saying Space Marine 2 is a prequel, thats not what chat was saying. As you can see Cross was reading comments from chat. Everyone was saying Space Marine 1 was the prequel, while not wrong the games take place more than 100 years apart from each other. Same main character just completely different settings. Chat was trying to get Cross hyped up to play Space Marine 1 so he would have some context of who the characters are in Space Marine 2.
I do hope Cross plays Space Marine 1 and Boltgun. Both are phenomenally good games and I hope the lore from Space Marine 2 entices Cross to delve deeper into 40K as its an other amazing franchise.
Those little ones that are melee units are called hormaguants. The identical little ones that shoot are called termaguants.

Cross slowly realizing that Warhammer 40k it the most badass shit ever made, and like 90% of sci fi games and tropes can be traced back to it, since it's been around since the early 80s.
I wasn't hype for this game untill someone told me it had pvp. I already pre-ordered it and going straight for the multiplayer PVP!! Wooooo
What I love is the movement is very heavy and weighty in a good way. Unlike the first descendant where everything is just light and bouncy and feels like there’s no oomf in the attacks you do.
