- As Space Marine 2 nears it's long awaited release join me while I revisit the first game's story events as well as some other information you need to know going into the sequel. The game covers the Grimskull war taking place on the forge world of Graia, Titus and friends fight, fight, and fight some more to liberate the planet!

I hope one of 3 things happen in space marine 2:
1. Leandros dies between the 2 games and is forgotten by history
2. Leandros dies in game and you get to watch it happen
3. Leandros turns to chaos and you get to kill him
If Leandros is alive at the end of the game, I will be disappointed. If they attempt a redemption of him I will be actively angry.

The space marine who spends the whole game whining about the codex, and that he thinks titus is corrupted despite the mountains of evidence against it, the guy who violates the codex and gets the inquisition involved in an internal matter instead of telling the chapter master or chapter priest. The biggest waste of an astartes in the entire setting. That's leandros. (He has the nerd emoji head in this video)

I still love how Titus is pretty much simultaneously one of the best but also underrated 40k characters out there. Also love how he critiques Matt Wards depiction of the Ultramarines and their obsession with the Codex.
And simultaneously exactly what guilliman wants space marines to be.

My favorite moment is when once the chaos demons came out of the portal all the little green skins ran on fear. But grim skull just yelled out with joy saying “you got new friends now space Marines.” Had me laughing for a good minute.
Ya that’s one of my favorite moments as well🤣 Grimskull is such a fun character, I hope there’s someone at his level in the sequel. Tbh I’m a bit worried in that regard since tyranids tend to not have much character and chaos tends to have similar character archetypes in games. Thanks for watching!

@@KrakDuk Hopefully there will be a second or even third faction to join the fight mid-way through, like the first game. Just fighting 'Nids for a whole campaign would get a bit stale. I'm hoping for chaos (again) or Necrons/Eldar :)

It seems nobody has pointed it out yet so I shall say it: Leandros was supposed to report Titus to their chaplain, not the Inquisition. Little shït broke the codex himself and he didn’t even know.

Be cool if he, too, got exiled and died in the deathwatch, referenced offhand during mid-game dialogue as you walk between firefights

Captain Titus becomes a Lieutenant due to the reformation of commands within the newly introduced Primaris. He was not demoted. I want to make people aware of that. It is in the White Dwarf magazine.
The reason they demoted Titus was so that his rank of 2nd captain didn’t conflict with Cato Sicarius’s preexisting title of the same. Now they can both canonically exist

The sequel may be a century into the future... But there are Cadians in the game. I want to see Mira again. Grizzled, old, and hardened by the battles she's won gloriously. But still that delightfully no-nonsense, heart-of-gold mother of her men we fought to save.
I desperately want Malum Caedo to meet Captain Titus and both of them fight with each other.

Leandros is a nerd, but keep in mind that from where he’s standing:
1. His commander’s first action is to blindly disregard the rules of the Imperium, almost have his head cleaned off by orks, Have a chaos lord call his commander a “brother” a bunch, his commander is able resist raw warp energy which the Chaos lord is like “oh shit, you’re pretty in-tune with the warp” which no one can explain, your commander is spared by chaos lord despite the fact that he’d almost without a doubt lose the fight, and the whole time basically saying “you know the Imperium rules suck. Maybe think for yourself?”
Like it’s kinda reasonable to think maybe something’s wrong
Not a lot people hate him for that, as you said those are some good reason to be concerned. What we hate is that he called the inquisition, as, per the codex astartes, if there is such concern the correct course of action is to inform your chapters chaplains who along with the librarians will conduct a thorough examination of said individual. So not only was he kind of whinny through out the game, but he then committed an act of hypocrisy and betray by getting the inquisition involved.

Really love this game, and Grimskull is the best! Just wish we got to see more of him, aswell as the ork vs chaos battles cuz those were super dope. Also a bummer that the killa kanz and nobz with big shootas weren't in the campaign, but at least we can still fight them in the exterminatus mode. Rip Grimskull, I hope they bring you back in the future
Great recap. I'm glad that the first game is canon now and we got to know what Titus has been up to. I never liked the "Titus is a blank theory" either. My assumption has always been that his resistance to the warp manifested early into Titus' career when he was the sole survivor of his squad that confronted and slew a Chaos Sorcerer. However, being a Psyker and smiting the enemies of humanity with bio-lightning or other psyker abilities would be pretty wizard and I won't mind seeing that in SM2

If I remember correctly, the events of Space Marine happen at a very specific point in time that Cato Sicarius (the current 2nd Ultramarines cpatain) was either at a hearing/trial or on another crusade (I can't remember off the top of my head), which actually allows Titus to be the stand-in captain of the Ultramarines 2nd company, allowing the game and its sequel to be canon :)

Forge World Graia in the Segmentum Tempestus, not to be confused with Forge World _Graia_ in the Segmentum _Tempestus._ Being fair though Space Marine came out before AdMech had any models that weren't the IG Regimental Enginseer so thats why you don't see legions of Skitarii defending the world or the Graian Crown turning the Ork fleet into scrap metal... wait its already scrap metal... what do you figuratively turn Ork stuff into?
My hype for this Sequel is growing stronger every day. It'd be insane to use Psychic powers halfway through the campaign and considering one of the enemy factions you fight it would be especially cool.
I didn't know the story of the 1st game was continued through other ways than Boltgun (I haven't played Space Marine until maybe 2 years ago) so knowing that Inquisitor Thrax himself got corrupted is kinda ironic. Also cool to know how Titus ended up becoming a Primaris Marines.
Anyway, I'm super hyped for the game and really hope it delivers better than most AAA games lately but I feel confident!

Ya Boltgun didn’t have that many additions as it was definitely more gameplay focused than story, but it was cool to revisit graia and hear about some SM2 characters.

Fun fact : Space Marine was my first TPS AND the only TPS I have ever played until Helldivers 2. Since I'm a RTS player, this game has standed out from the rest of my steam gallery.

In regards to the psyker theory could it be possible that he might actually be an undiscovered Imperial Saint? When you activate his special ability the golden glow surronding him is awfully similar to the description giving that of a Saint, plus he does literally shout 'For the Emperor' (arguably a prayer) before it activates. A lot of his achievements could be interpreted as the work of someone who you could argue is divinely blessed
You forgot the moment where he died 6 times in a row to that one part and I ragequi- Uh I mean, Titus ragequit and cried for two days, broke his stupid dumb keyboard and stripped the paint off his tiny blue army men

Space Marine 2 has playable psykers in multiplayer mode, so I think that the campaign will have the basic psyker abilities so you can try them before the multiplayer.
"Weapon that can track psyhic signature of alien species" and he shows Tau. Only necrons have less warp connection than tau
I feel that shows how potent the weapon is. Iirc it’s confirmed to work on tau, so it’s a pretty powerful weapon considering its warp based system. Thanks for watching!

Man there are so many hype moments in this game, but the one that sticks out is at the end where you charge across a defended choke point full of demons and Chaos Marines with members of multiple Loyalist chapters fighting besides you. I can't wait to pay the sequel, but i hope the ending is as good as everything that precedes it.

Totally agree on the psyker theory, guy reminds me of one grey mofo called Garran Crowe. Wouldn’t be surprised if Cpt. Titties ( lieutenant now we know it) would be invited to join Kaldor Draigo and his grey boyz. Because it looks like the inquisition is “probing” him since the first game, which would make sense
2:03 Now I could be wrong but I remember somewhere that those Guardsmen had just finished fighting another ork waagh and where suppose to resupply before being redirected.
So these boys and gals held out while understrenght from the moment they entered the system.

in regards to the ending where u mention crossovers, warhammer did one with cod awhile ago, for some reason while they do have some really cool stuff they for some reason took the helmet off the what is essentially the tiny space marine skin, astra militarum one looks sick tho

Speaking about Titus theory, I think you may be right.
Not only would it make sense in the first game but looking at Space marine 2 it may be tied to the new faction we fight.
[Spoilers?: In a trailer is was revealed we would be a fighting Tzeentch aligned group, which has a heavy Psyker/Warp connection that could play into Titus discovering his powers]
I like the Titus is a latent psyker idea, though the blank idea still kinda holds up as there are degrees of being a blank, like there are degrees of being a psyker (more powerful psykers can effect less powerful blanks).
Maybe we will find out in Space Marine 2 :)
Titus is warp touched so by default he has that much in common with psykurs. Doubt it goes any further than that but with the Emperor’s ability to cosmically bolster individuals it can serve as a plot device and subtle reinforcement of the more mystical lore elements.
