This is a well written review and an amalgamation of why the original GRiD was ahead of its time. I don’t think anyone else will cover it as well as you have, IGN certainly hasn’t despite Luke Reilly reviewing it who always knows what he’s talking about when it comes to racing games. It still looks like a decent game and more quality racing games are always welcome in this day and age but I’m holding off on this until a sale. Codemasters still makes those iconic racing games but this isn’t one of them which is weird given the circumstances.
Looks like all that premium triple A sheen has caught up to CodeMasters. Looks like WreckFest is the only racing game this year to give us something brazen and exciting.
Yep, Race Driver Grid was pretty much a masterpiece. Every Grid since then has been disappointing in some way. Looks like this is another one to add to the list.
Rush Smith At the time I played so many racing games like NFS, GT, and others I forgot about. To me it was just “another racing game”. Had it’s pros and cons so I just thought it was an “okay” racer.

The other games in the series seemed not nearly as much of a jump forward. Only thing I dislike is the controls were a bit twitchy. This issue was fixed in Grid Autosport, but that game was kinda sluggish and a bit dull. I think Codemasters have pretty much nailed it again with F1 2019. I thought it was too similar to F1 2018, but after playing it I'm impressed enough to warrant buying it.
Noble Songs That’s the crucial thing - back then it was just a good racer. Butvracing games have become so lightweight, revisiting it feels like it was out of this world. It was an 8/10. Today, with modern graphics it would be at least 9/10. We were spoiled, now we’re bereft.
Good God I nearly forgot how shocked I was playing the original GRID for the first time. Thank you for letting me remember that. Really. It saddens me somehow seeing the 2019 version still struggle with avoiding what made GRID 2 a failure, not completely, at least. All these "tiny little flaws" are not technical ones, but rather more tuning and style-setting IMO, which means it REALLY COULD be the GRID 2008 reborn, but...but.....

Thanks for confirming what I already felt. The trouble with this game is that it is not Race Driver Grid at all, just a pale comparison. I had a session on the original a few months back and was blown away with all the noise, vibration and intensity, it’s still quite the experience. The new game is also severely lacking in content-tracks as well. Like you said what a shame, nothing but a cash grab.
Brilliant review. I am amazed at Codemasters, they keep releasing mediocre racing games in recent years. Like you say the original GRID from 2008 was immense, great track roster, good car selection, damage model, gameplay was fast and fun, the sound was also good, okay some of it was samey with reverse tracks but the excitement and variety overall was what impressed. Had real replayability. This ran through into the early DiRT games, 2 especially was a fantastic game with real world drivers providing voice overs...and the soundtrack, well that was really good too, DiRT 3 was a great game too. Then the lull, GRID 2 was a bit lame, they went for high polished graphics but the gameplay was lacking and unless you ran it on a high spec machine it was a bit slow, the removal of real world circuits for made up routes let it down also. Then came along DiRT Rally, they were hard, not fun at all, recently I got DiRT 4 but all the fun of rallycross and point to point has gone, replaced by an average amount of very similar rally group stages that are boring. Now GRID 2019, seriously lacking in camera movement (a la Project Cars), lacking decent sound and immersion, plus a crummy track selection. Codemasters, if you read this (doubtful) your best ever racing games were ToCA Race driver 3 and GRID 2008, make a game like that once more and you'll own the racing genre. No one wants to purchase DLC later down the line, you are better than that! Please put the full content in you game from day one and let people enjoy your games :)

The original grid was amazing I'm still playing backward compatible on my XB1 ....but what the hell is going on with the game industry at the moment they are messing up big time.... call me old but I remember the days of enjoying video games that's why I'm going back to older games and sticking with my switch . I already have Grid 2008 on 360 but i would like to thank my past self for buying Grid 2008 on PC before it got removed because i decided to play it again recently and my oh my..IT IS SOO DAMN GOOD!!! The intensity, the damage system, the fact that the a.i. makes way more mistakes even out at the front positions, the fact that you have to fight for podium positions and then fight to keep it that way makes ot insanely better than this version(which i also have) The track and game mode variety in Grid 2008 is muuch better as well. The game isnt perfect but its better tho
I get my Ultimate Edition today,, I've always loved grid for the close contact racing and that damage model. I do agree with most things you mentioned. They do need to implement a patch in some way.

I was only gonna buy this game if they implemented the full damage mechanics that was so much fun in the first two and a bit extra should be expected.. What an absolute blow out for us fans Such a shame
The issue is racing games on consoles have been abandoned. This garbage is just a placeholder while they focus on next gen consoles, so don't expect anything good until 2021.
Everyone: Get DiRT Rally 2, racing against AI or online on the Rally Cross tracks ist exactly the opposite, it's a joy of control, nothing holds your horses there!
I'm going to get my hands on the game soon. I just had to buy it because it's a reboot of my favorite racing game of all time. But damn man, I don't need to have played it to know that it doesn't even hold a candle to the original. I know I'll manage to have some fun with it but I REALLY wanted it to be good.
You saved me a hell lot of money from this one... thanks man. I played the living crap out of the first GRID and hell, that sense of speed and violence even is unmatched to this very day. I think the only game which comes even close to GRID in that regard is FlatOut 2, haha. But yeah - you got another sub there mate. Great review! The 30fps on my standard PS4 is what took the nail in the coffin for me. I don't mind the lack of features, career, or even lack of speed or excitment of the racing, I was going with a clean mind without comparing it to my beloved original Racedriver GRID. But I remember seeing lots of videos stating this was going to be 60fps, and when it launched, they completely ommited this, it's was giganticly misleading, I fucking hate them for it. I'm gonna pirate this game on my mid-tier laptop out of spite for them. At least I'll be able to play 60fps at 720p on PC, no matter what. Driveclub was the ONLY game I was able to digest a 30fps racing game.
I paid for dirt 2 at launch . It’s now down to £15 or free on game pass . I won’t be making the same mistake with this game . Thanks for the heads up with this video 👍

I never played this game before and started playing this year. I had the exact same damage that shows even the drivers body through the car body in the exact same race at 3:27
Being a massive fan of the series, I bought this game with massive hopes. I personally love it, but I do have my criticisms. The progression, for one, is next to non-existent, and the short list of tracks makes races very repetitive. Doesn’t mean the tracks that are here aren’t great - Okutama, Shanghai, and Havana for example, are incredible, especially during the night. The car list is decent, but like the tracks, leaves much to be desired. The absence of Lamborghini, McLaren (they have the M8D, but not a single road car or modern model), Mercedes and many more are questionable. I understand the process of licensing, but manufacturers like Lamborghini are no-brainers. Perhaps they pulled out because of the damage physics, but they were in past games, so unless they arrive in Season 3’s Hypercars DLC, we’ll never know for sure. The graphics are amazing, so no need to delve any deeper into that. The AI occasionally lives up to the chaotic and personalized promises that the developers made, but more often than not, they just completely forget you even exist. Like you mentioned in your review, docile AI spin you out when rounding a corner more often than the aggravated Nemesis drivers. (I have yet to play the multiplayer modes, as I’ve heard there are several issues with lag and drivers setting off before the race even starts - I plan on trying it out once I finish the career mode) In short, the game is a worthy reboot, but it isn’t without its problems. Hopefully, many of these issues will be resolved or at least improved in later updates and patches, but for now, I believe it deserves a 7, perhaps an 8 out of 10.
Erndogg Yes! It is indeed very much still worth playing. We need more great-looking, accessible racers. But we do also need to be better than a racing game from 2008. Both points can exist as the same time, I like your attitude :)

Thank you for the honest review. I had been following this for a while and I'm not terribly surprised by the outcome. I still might pick this up after a deep sale. I don't see $60 plus $30 dlc value here. It looks souless to tell the truth. Nothing really stands out.
Great review and a lot of valid points. Care to discuss the absolute lack of attention they've given to Multiplayer? This is something they absolutely must fix for the game to survive. Its terrible in its current setup imo.
I kept wondering why the racing in new Grid looks so stale in videos i watched, but as soon as u showed and compared with the original Grid footage i finally know why.
I hadn't play Grid (yet), but, cccording to what I researched, and comparing with previous games from the series that I've played (Specially Race Driver: Grid), I see Grid as a "Bare bones game". Even by having more cars than other titles from the franchise, it substantially lacks in actual tracks and car classes. From the Togue races in Japanese roads, to the 24 hours of Le Mans, RDG had far more variety in races. Codemasters promissed us a remake from the 1st Grid game, with several improvements and rifinements (overal in it's mechanics) from further games from the franchise and much more. However what it delivered was something far below the expectations. Let's hope Codemasters corrects that with further updates that add more circuits and cars.
Good review. Point to point racing is great. Options are limited because cidemaster games don’t sell well despite their technical brilliance. It has great potential.
Codemasters, you make me so sad. Words can't be found for the feeling of awe and astonishment at the leap from Toca 3 to Race Driver Grid. At the time, it was even beyond what I ever thought a racing game could be. I spent so much time pitting myself against the AI in the best touring car battles gaming had to offer, even yelping in glee when my car suddenly became engulfed in a mountain of loose tyres and car body parts. If only they knew what potential they had, what they had given their audience and how they had absolutely nailed the first appearance, I have no doubt they would have taken the series to even higher heights in 2. Maybe working on 2 Dirt titles in a row let them forget. Imagine, if you will, all of the features of Grid 1, but with more tracks, dynamic weather, pit stops, team mate commands, yellow flags/safety cars/marshalls removing crashed cars, qualifying and split screen co-op championships. I'd practically be obligated to hand them the keys to my worthless life. But here we are - I only got Grid 2 because it was free, and I'm not even going to give them 7 quid for Grid 2019. (Also, 2d xbox home screen style menus instead of the 3d immersive art they made before? Why.)
I wholeheartedly agree. (sorry for the necro) I bought both, noting a lack of quality in the current-gen simcade or even full arcade racers out there (2022). The 2019 feels sterile to me. Like someone touting that 4K graphics are just superior because of the higher fidelity - and me asking why it's so important that I can count a character's nose hairs? I'm into a game like this to leave reality for a while. I want to feel speed. And GRID 2019 just doesn't get the job done.

Why can't they remaster the original for the new console. I'd buy it. Codemasters lost the plot with the Dirt franchise too, as now the very old Dirt Rally is still better than the newer versions.
I 'm a little disappointed how you don't mention how unpolished it is. Like when you start a hot lap qualifying....or when cars are loading in the' pick a car' screen, and u move to another one the car still loads, eventhough the name's changed. Or how damage costs don't make sense.... Nah, that mustang clip in the beginning of the previous Grid says it all. Those races were fights.
this video pretty much summarize what i been saying for years since they switched from dirt 3 to dirt rally...the games are became extremely shallow and dumbed down on pretty much all departments except graphics and physics

Another complaint for me in the new GRID is the audio mixing. Especially when in the cockpit cam, a tunnel or nearby other drivers the cars never sound loud enough. I'm having fun as you were saying but overall a disappointment.
I keep coming back to Grid 2019 reviews. I hold the original Grid in high regard and want to find a reason the buy Grid 2019. Sadly it’s difficult to find one. Codemasters have failed miserably and need to go back to the drawing board.
Yeah, you're not alone - this review's had a lot of unexpected traffic post-release. I don't understand how the team could say they're going back to what made GRID so great in the first place, and yet completely miss the point of it. I would add that Race Driver GRID was only an 8/10 racer on its release, it's just that racing games have got gradually worse over the subsequent decade so now it seems like Race Driver GRID was a masterpiece. If it was released today with modern visuals, it would easily be a 9/10. Honestly, a remaster would have been better! Cheers :)

In some way the disappointment with this reboot version of GRID isn't surprising. CodeMasters seem to be starving for trends because ONRUSH tried to get in on the Fortnite craze with the eye-popping menus, characters and dance moves tied to a racing game that is team and competition based. Now with GRID it's taking all that made the original so exciting and vibrant, tossing it in the trash and replacing it with a cold, unexciting husk that's visually appealing and caters to a wider audience but doesn't have the grittiness or edginess the 2008 game did (this is a presumptuous opinion). Putting Fernando Alonso's name into the game reeks of desperation because no other GRID game needed to a famous name to represent it-GRID isn't Gran Turismo. Uttering GRID in the same sentence with Anthem and Ghost Recon: Breakpoint feels dirty and inaccurate, but I get the sense GRID is going to be indicative of further triple A grab-happiness in the future, and I'm not talking about loot boxes, I'm talking about appealing to a wider audience.
The dev still has a launch version Xbox One...yeah well many of us don't and no 4k enchantment was disappointing. I'll stick to Grid autosport and the Witcher 3 on my switch, never thought I'd end up playing a Nintendo console more than xbox and PC.
I kinda like this game, I bought it and I'm quite satysfied, but I admin it has some lacks, like drifting, demolition derby, and the career needs to be fixed, when I play this kind of career without a character and without a story mode it just feels empty, like I have no reason to progress in it IDK I hope codemasters will take these bad reviews very seriously and fix the game, because this game is gorgeous and I want to remember this as a gorgeous experience, like the first Grid
I just finished the grid world series last night, I was expecting a celebration cut scene or something & it was pointless! Totally underwhelming career mode, where all you get in return is new banners & stickers for your drivers profile! WHAT? lol
Totally agree the ps3 grid and grid 2 even the grid autosport which i still have all of them and still play indeed have much greater damage and aggressive racing than the inferior grid of today such a shame
For raw fun and enjoyment, nothing has beaten the original GRID for me - and each subsequent iteration of the series has been its own disappointment. What happened to Codemasters?! They were absolutely on fire with most of their titles between RD: GRID and DIRT 3 - but they've totally lost their way at this point.
I tried this game and holy crap it sucks. Very limited track selection, I’m pretty sure you can’t even change your car’s color or livery, everything is about crashing in the intro. I don’t want to play a game that thinks crashing is racing. Drifting gives you speed boosts for some reason. The menu is so empty. Bootleg NASCAR sucks, And the car handles TERRIBLE, it’s like there is 0 traction and I’m driving on 15 layers of ice
The game simply isn’t finished. Feels like I’m playing Need For Speed 2015. None of the cars have any character or feel. Just like why should have delayed it more then they did.

After seeing this review and only having a standard ps4, I'm gutted to hear how bad this game runs. 30 fps isn't great, especially with constant frame drops. I was so hyped and now I'm not going to buy this game. Grid on ps3 is prob the most fun I've had in a racing game and it only costed £4 and free delivery. Why do these devs keep taking 1 foot forward and 2 back. I swear I will lose my mind if ps5 isn't minimum of 60fps and native 4k. Otherwise I will not be wasting my money. Saying that, gaming as a whole is still kinda shit with crappy ai and it will prob be te same with ps5. Better graphics and framerate and we'll still get shitty experience.
I have always say it,Codemaster.suffer from finding the center pivot point of turning right and left in a 3d object,their diffl rotation is set to the middle of the vehicle not the rear.thats why car handles unrealistic,and suck.
I wish I would have watched this video before I bought Grid for ps4...they should have just remastered Grid for ps3. I can't even return it due to the digital purchase. Heavily Disappointed!

There's nothing ultimate about paying an additional £20 for content that should be in the game already.

I was only gonna buy this game if they implemented the full damage mechanics that was so much fun in the first two and a bit extra should be expected..

The issue is racing games on consoles have been abandoned. This garbage is just a placeholder while they focus on next gen consoles, so don't expect anything good until 2021.
Everyone: Get DiRT Rally 2, racing against AI or online on the Rally Cross tracks ist exactly the opposite, it's a joy of control, nothing holds your horses there!

I'm going to get my hands on the game soon. I just had to buy it because it's a reboot of my favorite racing game of all time. But damn man, I don't need to have played it to know that it doesn't even hold a candle to the original. I know I'll manage to have some fun with it but I REALLY wanted it to be good.

I think the only game which comes even close to GRID in that regard is FlatOut 2, haha. But yeah - you got another sub there mate. GRID 2019 is just a demo sold as full game at full price. Every other Grid is better than the 2019 version even Grid 2.
Thanks for saving me $60 and encouraging me to dust off my 360. I wanted to love this game, but it doesn't seem to hold a candle to the original GRID
Great review! The 30fps on my standard PS4 is what took the nail in the coffin for me. I don't mind the lack of features, career, or even lack of speed or excitment of the racing, I was going with a clean mind without comparing it to my beloved original Racedriver GRID. But I remember seeing lots of videos stating this was going to be 60fps, and when it launched, they completely ommited this, it's was giganticly misleading, I fucking hate them for it. I'm gonna pirate this game on my mid-tier laptop out of spite for them. At least I'll be able to play 60fps at 720p on PC, no matter what. Driveclub was the ONLY game I was able to digest a 30fps racing game.
I paid for dirt 2 at launch . It’s now down to £15 or free on game pass . I won’t be making the same mistake with this game . Thanks for the heads up with this video 👍

I never played this game before and started playing this year. I had the exact same damage that shows even the drivers body through the car body in the exact same race at 3:27
Being a massive fan of the series, I bought this game with massive hopes. I personally love it, but I do have my criticisms.
The progression, for one, is next to non-existent, and the short list of tracks makes races very repetitive. Doesn’t mean the tracks that are here aren’t great - Okutama, Shanghai, and Havana for example, are incredible, especially during the night.
The car list is decent, but like the tracks, leaves much to be desired. The absence of Lamborghini, McLaren (they have the M8D, but not a single road car or modern model), Mercedes and many more are questionable. I understand the process of licensing, but manufacturers like Lamborghini are no-brainers. Perhaps they pulled out because of the damage physics, but they were in past games, so unless they arrive in Season 3’s Hypercars DLC, we’ll never know for sure.
The graphics are amazing, so no need to delve any deeper into that. The AI occasionally lives up to the chaotic and personalized promises that the developers made, but more often than not, they just completely forget you even exist. Like you mentioned in your review, docile AI spin you out when rounding a corner more often than the aggravated Nemesis drivers.
(I have yet to play the multiplayer modes, as I’ve heard there are several issues with lag and drivers setting off before the race even starts - I plan on trying it out once I finish the career mode)
In short, the game is a worthy reboot, but it isn’t without its problems. Hopefully, many of these issues will be resolved or at least improved in later updates and patches, but for now, I believe it deserves a 7, perhaps an 8 out of 10.

Erndogg Yes! It is indeed very much still worth playing. We need more great-looking, accessible racers. But we do also need to be better than a racing game from 2008. Both points can exist as the same time, I like your attitude :)

Thank you for the honest review. I had been following this for a while and I'm not terribly surprised by the outcome. I still might pick this up after a deep sale. I don't see $60 plus $30 dlc value here. It looks souless to tell the truth. Nothing really stands out.
Would be good to get your thoughts on grid legends. Seems like the sound has been turned down even more since grid 2019.

Great review and a lot of valid points. Care to discuss the absolute lack of attention they've given to Multiplayer? This is something they absolutely must fix for the game to survive. Its terrible in its current setup imo.
Race driver: grid was way better man. I've tried this one and it's too simple. Just way too much.
I kept wondering why the racing in new Grid looks so stale in videos i watched, but as soon as u showed and compared with the original Grid footage i finally know why.
I also got to play it early and I agree with everything you said 100%.

I hadn't play Grid (yet), but, cccording to what I researched, and comparing with previous games from the series that I've played (Specially Race Driver: Grid), I see Grid as a "Bare bones game". Even by having more cars than other titles from the franchise, it substantially lacks in actual tracks and car classes. From the Togue races in Japanese roads, to the 24 hours of Le Mans, RDG had far more variety in races. Codemasters promissed us a remake from the 1st Grid game, with several improvements and rifinements (overal in it's mechanics) from further games from the franchise and much more. However what it delivered was something far below the expectations. Let's hope Codemasters corrects that with further updates that add more circuits and cars.

Good review. Point to point racing is great. Options are limited because cidemaster games don’t sell well despite their technical brilliance. It has great potential.
Codemasters, you make me so sad. Words can't be found for the feeling of awe and astonishment at the leap from Toca 3 to Race Driver Grid. At the time, it was even beyond what I ever thought a racing game could be. I spent so much time pitting myself against the AI in the best touring car battles gaming had to offer, even yelping in glee when my car suddenly became engulfed in a mountain of loose tyres and car body parts. If only they knew what potential they had, what they had given their audience and how they had absolutely nailed the first appearance, I have no doubt they would have taken the series to even higher heights in 2. Maybe working on 2 Dirt titles in a row let them forget.
Imagine, if you will, all of the features of Grid 1, but with more tracks, dynamic weather, pit stops, team mate commands, yellow flags/safety cars/marshalls removing crashed cars, qualifying and split screen co-op championships. I'd practically be obligated to hand them the keys to my worthless life. But here we are - I only got Grid 2 because it was free, and I'm not even going to give them 7 quid for Grid 2019. (Also, 2d xbox home screen style menus instead of the 3d immersive art they made before? Why.)

I wholeheartedly agree. (sorry for the necro) I bought both, noting a lack of quality in the current-gen simcade or even full arcade racers out there (2022). The 2019 feels sterile to me. Like someone touting that 4K graphics are just superior because of the higher fidelity - and me asking why it's so important that I can count a character's nose hairs? I'm into a game like this to leave reality for a while. I want to feel speed. And GRID 2019 just doesn't get the job done.

This is my first GRID, I actually enjoy it but I can agree that more should be added. From what I hear they’re gonna add some free DLC.
I spent hundreds of hours playing the original Grid (2008) but in this one the handling feels off. The car wont´t turn it kind of just moves from side to side. (PC version)

Why can't they remaster the original for the new console. I'd buy it. Codemasters lost the plot with the Dirt franchise too, as now the very old Dirt Rally is still better than the newer versions.

Like when you start a hot lap qualifying....or when cars are loading in the' pick a car' screen, and u move to another one the car still loads, eventhough the name's changed. Or how damage costs don't make sense....
Nah, that mustang clip in the beginning of the previous Grid says it all. Those races were fights.

this video pretty much summarize what i been saying for years since they switched from dirt 3 to dirt rally...the games are became extremely shallow and dumbed down on pretty much all departments except graphics and physics

Another complaint for me in the new GRID is the audio mixing. Especially when in the cockpit cam, a tunnel or nearby other drivers the cars never sound loud enough. I'm having fun as you were saying but overall a disappointment.

I keep coming back to Grid 2019 reviews. I hold the original Grid in high regard and want to find a reason the buy Grid 2019. Sadly it’s difficult to find one. Codemasters have failed miserably and need to go back to the drawing board.
Yeah, you're not alone - this review's had a lot of unexpected traffic post-release. I don't understand how the team could say they're going back to what made GRID so great in the first place, and yet completely miss the point of it. I would add that Race Driver GRID was only an 8/10 racer on its release, it's just that racing games have got gradually worse over the subsequent decade so now it seems like Race Driver GRID was a masterpiece. If it was released today with modern visuals, it would easily be a 9/10. Honestly, a remaster would have been better! Cheers :)

The first 2 Grid games were way better than this.
In some way the disappointment with this reboot version of GRID isn't surprising. CodeMasters seem to be starving for trends because ONRUSH tried to get in on the Fortnite craze with the eye-popping menus, characters and dance moves tied to a racing game that is team and competition based. Now with GRID it's taking all that made the original so exciting and vibrant, tossing it in the trash and replacing it with a cold, unexciting husk that's visually appealing and caters to a wider audience but doesn't have the grittiness or edginess the 2008 game did (this is a presumptuous opinion). Putting Fernando Alonso's name into the game reeks of desperation because no other GRID game needed to a famous name to represent it-GRID isn't Gran Turismo. Uttering GRID in the same sentence with Anthem and Ghost Recon: Breakpoint feels dirty and inaccurate, but I get the sense GRID is going to be indicative of further triple A grab-happiness in the future, and I'm not talking about loot boxes, I'm talking about appealing to a wider audience.
The dev still has a launch version Xbox One...yeah well many of us don't and no 4k enchantment was disappointing.
I'll stick to Grid autosport and the Witcher 3 on my switch, never thought I'd end up playing a Nintendo console more than xbox and PC.

I kinda like this game, I bought it and I'm quite satysfied, but I admin it has some lacks, like drifting, demolition derby, and the career needs to be fixed, when I play this kind of career without a character and without a story mode it just feels empty, like I have no reason to progress in it

Totally agree the ps3 grid and grid 2 even the grid autosport which i still have all of them and still play indeed have much greater damage and aggressive racing than the inferior grid of today such a shame
For raw fun and enjoyment, nothing has beaten the original GRID for me - and each subsequent iteration of the series has been its own disappointment. What happened to Codemasters?! They were absolutely on fire with most of their titles between RD: GRID and DIRT 3 - but they've totally lost their way at this point.
I've most of the original talent, left and went to work at Playground games. You know...Forza Horizon.
Cars need to rip around the corners if not drift it would make the game more competitive
I tried this game and holy crap it sucks.
Very limited track selection, I’m pretty sure you can’t even change your car’s color or livery, everything is about crashing in the intro. I don’t want to play a game that thinks crashing is racing. Drifting gives you speed boosts for some reason. The menu is so empty. Bootleg NASCAR sucks,
And the car handles TERRIBLE, it’s like there is 0 traction and I’m driving on 15 layers of ice

The game simply isn’t finished. Feels like I’m playing Need For Speed 2015. None of the cars have any character or feel. Just like why should have delayed it more then they did.

If they ever make a patch for ps4 to run the game at 60 fps i will buy it but so dissapointed, i"ll be buying COD MW or anything else and wait for this to get a discount.

After seeing this review and only having a standard ps4, I'm gutted to hear how bad this game runs. 30 fps isn't great, especially with constant frame drops. I was so hyped and now I'm not going to buy this game. Grid on ps3 is prob the most fun I've had in a racing game and it only costed £4 and free delivery. Why do these devs keep taking 1 foot forward and 2 back. I swear I will lose my mind if ps5 isn't minimum of 60fps and native 4k. Otherwise I will not be wasting my money. Saying that, gaming as a whole is still kinda shit with crappy ai and it will prob be te same with ps5. Better graphics and framerate and we'll still get shitty experience.

I have always say it,Codemaster.suffer from finding the center pivot point of turning right and left in a 3d object,their diffl rotation is set to the middle of the vehicle not the rear.thats why car handles unrealistic,and suck.
Unfair to compare it with Forza 7, even horizon games have better physics and damage model.
I wish I would have watched this video before I bought Grid for ps4...they should have just remastered Grid for ps3. I can't even return it due to the digital purchase. Heavily Disappointed!

Леонид Крючков No, and no demolition derby either, unless you count the pre-race lobby in multiplayer (which... I don’t). There’s very little variety and you do end up doing the same things over and over.
Thank you for the answer, and the developers said that this is a restart of the game of 2008, and after all there the drift took a worthy place among other disciplines !!
