I love how much rougher you made her look in comparison to Toothless. Not just from the scars but the longer more pronounced spikes. It fits with how sexual dimorphism works in snakes with the females being larger then the males but also with your headcanon about being abused by trappers and that being a part of the plot of your HTTYD 3. Plus those colors are so much more interesting then " white porcelain doll girl dragon"
I'm glad you like it, thankyou! I personally like to go by the idea that the dragons mostly lack obvious sexual dimorphism and this fury is just a little bigger than toothless, a little rougher, etc. cause that's just how she looks as an individual tho I'm in no way against the idea of female night fury's being the bigger/rougher looking ones heh
@@MyUniverseinaBox hey I loved your head canons in the video and I adore your art but wouldn’t this fury being bigger than toothless not make sense being that since this fury was abused and more Than likely wasn’t fed properly and being in cages most of its life lead it to its grow being stunted and being sum what smaller then the average night fury and with the night fury being albino wouldn’t it make sense if this particular fury would stumble around while in the day light? I just wanted to know if your head canon goes into realism (your able to do what you want with your opinions I support that in every way)
@@ravensnest8251 Fair point! Though I didn't explain in the video the details of how long she would have been trapped or in what period of her life, or in the scenario where her rider is Grimmel/some other hunter, when or how they found her etc. cause I'm just not going that in depth. I left it pretty open ended, so depends how you wanna go about it really. Someone else here suggested an idea for how Grimmel/whoever this hunter found this night fury though- and that was finding her as she hatched basically. I quite like this idea, and I imagine that they probably would have taken care of her properly in that regard if they wanted a night fury capable of doing anything. anyways, yeah I'm glad you like it, thanks!
@@MyUniverseinaBox I’m glad you got to express your opinion on the 3rd film and I’m glad we got to see your head-canon im a huge sucker for Anything httyd related and art related I hope you do more httyd related things one day and I hope to see your art again soon, I do like the idea of this new threat havin the fury since it hatching or stealing it from its mothers nest.
i like how you gave her a more creamy like colouring instead of just white as snow with some cream or grey spots or didn’t make her just completely white
As out of place as it is for hiccstrid to be confirmed in movie one, there is actually a good reason for it. They didn't think they would get any sequel, they never predicted they'd get an entire trilogy of movies and an entire trilogy of tv show to flesh out these characters and their dynamics and archs. They actually kind of rolled back and unconfirmed hiccstrid in the shows so they could work towards it more slowly, giving it the time it deserves. They don't officially get together until the latter half of race to the edge, which takes place between movies after a time jump that aged all the characters up to 18.
Oh that's nice to know! I haven't watched any the shows and I don't really plan to but that's cool to hear they did that. also I know they weren't thinking they'd make a sequel so they crammed in the romance but I don't think that's a good reason at all; Either just have the movie the same and Astrid and Hiccup just become friends by the end, or have better building up to it plus more development for Astrid - cause otherwise you end up getting this 'obtain the girl at the end' thing which is a bit of a misogynistic trope that we are I'm sure all too familiar with. It's not super bad or anything in this case but it's still present
When I was smaller I used to like speed painting videos with just music over them but nowadays I find more enjoyment where there’s commentary like in this video. Your redesign of the lightfurry to be just an albino nightfurry is much better than having another nightfurry clone, it looks really cool and I love the scars and patterns you gave it!^^
@@beef4899 what are you a grammar teacher? It doesn’t matter all the others who liked my comment understood what I said, only you have a bug up in your ass about it
Great design! I love how she looks like an actual dragon instead of a baby. The little details on her skin look great. This is way better than the actual light fury
I love this concept so much! I agree with everything you said about redoing the movie and how the franchise handled certain things. I definitely agree on the point you made about how having a subspecies of dragon really came out of left field. I have been trying to think of my own redesign/replacement for the Light Fury lately and that is something I stumbled upon as well. I'm all for having an albino Night Fury instead of a white subspecies; it gets rid of the design issue and also helps add some of that realism you mentioned, with having a dragon be affected by a real-life condition, albinism. I also LOVE changing the plot to be about teaching this albino Night Fury that not every human is out to get her. I think it plays back into the whole theme of love and trust in the series; it's almost like HTTYD 1 except now both Hiccup and Toothless can work with building trust in another hurt Night Fury. And this time all of Berk is on their side. I love the concept of her design being covered in scars because she had been abused by someone who used her as a hunting tool. I think that's a great idea for both character development and design. I'm personally not completely opposed to the idea of Grimmel's genocide, as I do think it would be interesting for Toothless to be the only Night Fury ever seen by Berk, although I wish they could've done that concept without making him the last one alive. One idea I had was that Night Furies might just be exclusive to the Hidden World, and Toothless was one of the first (or the only one) to ever decide to leave (I like to imagine he's a "different" individual for his kind, like how Hiccup was considered different among vikings). But to be honest I'm not fond of the Hidden World either, for the reasons you mentioned, so I'm kind of at a loss on what to do about that. I do wish that the series would've explored the topic of trauma more; I find that it goes really well with the theme of building trust that the series already has (or had). One of this is exploring Hiccup's thoughts about Toothless killing Stoic, as you said. We didn't really get much of his thoughts at all other than being angry at Toothless right after it happened. I would have loved to see his relationship with Toothless get a scar because of that, and have them slowly learn how to restore their friendship to how it was, kind of like a reverse HTTYD 1 where Toothless has to train Hiccup to trust him again. This series has so much potential for cool stuff like this to happen; it's so unfortunate they decided to ditch that and turn it into a romantic cash-grab to feed the shippers. You'd think a movie that was originally about strong friendship would've stuck with that instead of being like "yeah friends are great but romance is priority", but I guess not. I would've done what you said and just throw out the romance stuff in exchange for plots about wounded individuals learning to trust again. I find it's much more raw and compelling for a series like this. Anyway, great design, and well done! I love the voiceover and I would love to see more of them if you have things to say!
Ah yeah I've heard that idea thrown around a bit, having a flock of night furies hiding in the hidden world- but as a solution to that and to explain the rare appearance of night furies without playing the extinction card; For a start, it's kind of just how night fury's work: they're good at hiding! Second, I didn't explicitly explain it in the vid- but people hunting night furies for sport (not just Grimmel, many hunters not necessarily connected to eachother), you could probably play with the idea that that's the reason for their lowered numbers- so, not extinction. I mean, night furies are these elusive creatures already, their hunting style, their appearance, being viewed as some of the most dangerous types of dragons- I'm sure that would make them very prone to becoming targeted to hunting, killing one would be like a massive trophy. Plus something else you could do, is just have it where Toothless sort of travelled quite far from where night furies usually like to hang- like maybe night furies don't usually travel as far up north that toothless did. So with a mix of all those things it kind of explains why there's not many around and kind of gives toothless this unique side cause he's drifted so far from the night furies natural territories - could be some sad backstory reason like maybe he was driven out cause of trappers or he got lost.. etc. Lots you could do with that. But yeah, thanks for taking the time to write out this comment! and thankyou for the compliments! It means a lot
@@MyUniverseinaBox Great ideas! Thank you! I'm trying to construct my own headcanon/version of the series since I figured out I'm not fond of the things that happen since they aged up the characters. Your videos keep giving me ideas on how to alter stuff to my own liking, so thanks!
I actually believe there are subspecies mentioned but not in the movies. It’s in the game Dragons: Rise of Berk! For example, the game has Barklethorn nadders with a discription that implies they’re different than regular nadders, nesting in ancient tree, etc. (Note: Love the albino nightfury redesign tho - I severely disliked the lightfury instead of nightfury whether there are subspecies or not.)
I know I'm a sucker for trauma recovery arcs, but you mentioning how you thought she'd never get another rider just felt... right. And that sort of grounded emotion is what made the first movie so special for me. Life is hard and complicated, and never wraps up in a perfect bow. idk, I love your take and the redesign to much, thanks for sharing
Beautiful! I adore her improved look. Who says a badass design with markings, sharp lines and scars can't also be cute? (Fuck you Dean) An albino Night Fury would have been awesome, you could do so much with the concept! Albino animals have the survival odds stacked against them, so that's an instant great reason to have her fear other dragons and humans more than is normal. Or maybe show Grimmel killing a Night Fury defending their eggs (and actually show he is a real threat to Toothless and co.), and after they've died Grimmel goes to destroy the eggs, only to have one of the eggs hatch. And out comes our albino Fury. He decides she'll be worth keeping alive, raising her to fear and obey him much like Drago did, then later uses her to get Toothless. Instant "awww" from the audience and an explanation as to why she didn't just fly away the moment Grimmel set her free to lure out Toothless. I've yet to see a Light Fury redesign that isn't already better than canon honestly. Canon Light Fury looks like she should be a sidekick in one of those animated Barbie movies...
Hey, that's a great idea for how Grimmel could have found her! I love it also hard agree, they set such a low bar, pretty much every re-write I've seen is better LMAO. Thankyou for the compliments also!
This is very cool! I would have loved this design in the movie. I always wondered how the light fury in the movie wasn't scarred at all from the looks of it considering that it is well, a fully white dragon. I guess the invisibility helps but it didn't stop her from being captured. Keep up the good work!
I really liked how fans nicknamed the Light Fury "Nubless" when the trailer for the third movie dropped, and I think that'd work with this design, especially with the torn ear flap! This is one of my absolute favorite Light Fury redesigns and now I'm sooo sad about what we could have had...
I love your redesign for the light fury! She actually looks like she fits in with the other httyd dragons as opposed to the original which stood out like a sore thumb. I would probably consider her to be leucistic rather than albino due to her blue eyes as reptiles typically appear to have red eyes when they lack melanin, but the definitions for those terms tend to be used rather loosely anyway.
this is a awesome design it also make would made more sense with why she behaves the way that she does then the lightfury who apart from being in a cage with a muzzle in one scene doesn't show her being mistreated by trappers which ether details that she hasn't been captured for very long or was just a newly captured dragon but even that doesn't explain her behavior toward humans at all
Honestly (for headcannon part), I'd think it'd be a good idea for Hiccup ta hold a vote for who should he chief and for everyone ta choose him. Mainly ta show that, despite his faults and mistakes, that the village isn’t gonna ditch him at a moment's notice. I mean, they’re all human. Why knock someone down for making one instead of supporting and helping them? After all, that’s what the village is for. Ta support and help out its members.
I love the way you rendered the subtle patterning on the scales. The piece turned out really nice. To make myself feel better about the third film I always though of the light fury as leucistic, it’s another genetic pigment condition but it doesn’t effect eye color, and can be partial to even attempt to explain her children. If they ended the trilogy with anything close to your out line it could have done the series justice.
i really like how this came out! i like how you kept the patterns that toothless had in the first movie (and then they vanish and he becomes a sleek magic puppy), also your design has much more character i feel. While the Light Fury had her moments it was just kinda, there? i Guess? I like your design because yes it does show the abuse Grimmel would have done, its a show dont tell scenario, the scars, the defensive posture, even how their crouched lower. Also with it being an albino thats absolutely a trophy for someone like grimmel that he might very well keep alive to flaunt it off, use for traps, lure other dragon riders in because "oh what is that??" His reasons for usuing light furies was to bate the nightfuries, i think that same concept could work here.
Wow this popped up on my fyp and I’m amazed at your skills! I love the voiceover speed paint you do and I’m so intrigued by your headcannon httyd 3. I love how you made the albino nightfury stronger looking and like she’s been through a lot, which she has and you portrayed that perfectly! I don’t like how dreamworks designed the lightfury being this smooth and perfect dragon because that’s not realistic. Great job and I’ll be watching your old and new videos!
What you drew would be more considerate of a leucistic Night Fury if it was albino it would have more of a pinkish reddish eye instead of blue but it is very beautiful nonetheless it would have been a cool concept to see in the movie
It has a sand linke color, so I think a name like Armadillo or Jerboa could fit! Also, I really like your replacement. She looks more fierce than the original design.
This is an AMAZING drawing! I do wanna point out though that this is in no way albino. An albino nightfury would have white/translucent claws and red/pink eyes.
@@shadicy Albino mammal eyes are basically never fully icy blue like in this SpeedPaint. The majority have a reddish tinge due to the blood vessels being visible. And practically no albino non-mammals have blue eyes in general, most are almost solid red.
@@EarthlingCanine so???? and the russian population is only 1%, still a huge amount of people, if blue eyes still exist in alkbinism it could be tehre, also i dont think dragons are mammals and even if they are many humans (we are mammals) have purple eyes :)
Honestly, we already saw a sort of albinism with the Screaming Death (its mutated beyond simple pigment loss tho) and it would make sense to see that in other species (or even later find out that Toothless is acually an Melanistic Fury and they were suppose to be Black/White from the start, reason why he was the only one of his kind: he is an outcast of his species) HTTYD 3 could been such an amazing way to not only introduce more Night Furys (Furies?) but also be a sorta documentary! How do wild Night Fury socialize? What are the mating rituals? Unique diet? Eggs? Not only Hiccup learns, but Toothless as well and even unlock some old memories from when he was a hatchling. The movie instead went straight to "Toothless, with no idea how his species even functions, wins over a stray mate of a subspecies, which might not even have the same customs as his kind" which is completely out of place
Amazing concept and very fitting for the series. One thing, she is lusistic rather then albino. The difference isn't big, only that albino has red eyes and lusistic has blue. Overall great video and amazing design!
Would have honestly preferred this over the third movie, there had been this side plot about trying to find other night furies throughout both the movies and series, it felt really dissatisfying for all of that struggle only for the third movie to be like "whoops! they're all dead!" and make it seem as if all of that effort was for nothing. This also would fit with that one scrapped scene for HTTYD 3 of Hiccup and Toothless finding the light fury caged up on the boat.
Love the artwork! Your headcanon souns wery interesting and id be a 100% for the idea of that dumpsterfire of a movie turning into something like you proposed.
I know people have mentioned how technically this isn't albino, but you could turn it around and make her into a different morph like they do with snake and reptile breeding. There's things like albino (loss of black pigment), snow (loss of black and red pigment), wild type; things like that. This could be a snow morph Night Fury that occurred due to some old reccessive genes matching up in their parents and then they could've used that to explore the Night Fury's past or whatever. Maybe there's a small bloodline of snow morph Night Furys that are hiding out somewhere because their white coat helped their avoid poachers. Just thinking.
Amazing Designn!!! She's goregous👏👏 I agree with everyhing you said, I too had the idea that the 3rd movie would be about finding more NightFuries and rescuing them, very similar to how you described your AU!! I would have loved that and it would have been a great opposite parallel of the 1st movie while also being unique, i guess? With that said, the only thing I wanna point out is the HTTYD 1 Astrid thing.. In that movie there are a LOT of things you can only notice after watching the movie multiple times and pay attention to details, there's meaning to almost every sententence they say and every thing they do and show. I'm still learning new stuff lately even if i saw the movie a thousand times and I believe there's more to discover! That's why it's my favorite movie ever! Anyway, back to Astrid, she actually didn't hate Hiccup, I noticed many people missed some details, which is understandable, the only problem with HTTYD 1 for me is that they didn't explore the other kids and Astrid enough for you to 100% connect with them. As various people's observations made me notice, and my own of course, there's a bunch of details which are easy to miss about Astrid in the 1st half of the movie: -At the end of the war opening scene, when Stoic is scolding Hic for making a mess and making the dragons escape, you can see all the kids making fun of Hic with angry and smug faces, instead Astrid is in the far left corner with a very sad and disappointed face, she keeps her eyes on Hiccup walking away while others keep joking around. -There's a deleted scene set in the Blacksmith shop where right after Hiccup says that she: "wouldn't come near him even if she was on fire and he had the only bucket in town", Astrid appears asking him for her axe to be sharpened, they talk a bit and then he hands her the fixed axe, she notices it changed a bit and he tells her he did some changes (its actually cuz he got distracted looking at her so he broke it and replaced it quickly lol, it's kinda weird and awkward so im glad they removed that particular shot), then she moves her hair, smiles, thanks him and leaves, this happens before Hiccup goes in the forest to find shot-down Toothless. I did an edited version of the opening war scene where i managed to fit a tiny part of this deleted scene, cuz i think it would have helped showing people she actually did notice him before the romantic flight, but she didn't have any occasion to actually listen to her feelings cuz Hiccup was a living mess, danger and chaos for the tribe. -Another person noticed how Astrid never actually joins the bullying when other kids are making fun of Hic, the only sentence she actually says until he starts beating her in everything is "he's never in the right place at the right time" which actually doesn't mean anything, she could be masking the actual meaning of it, making it seem she is taking part on the mocking him but she maybe isn't really.. -Astrid gets mad at Hiccup not because she hates him, but you can notice how every time she is asking him where, how and who made him learn to be a skilled dragon hunter in so little time, she worked hard on being a warrior and out of nowhere he becomes the best of the class. She's mad cuz she thinks he's Lying, Cheating and doing things behind their back, she wants to investigate on what's going on. -Speaking of investigating, she's the only one of the group who notices how he frequently disappears and she also tries to speak to him about why is he "weird, well.. weirdER" in the scene where Hic brings Toothless in the Village at night. To know he's being weird when noting much had happened yet it probably means she knew he wasn't like that before? So she noticed him before the training started to know he changed so much and to find it stange he disappears, i think... She actually seemed to come in peace, I don't even remember if she had her axe in that scene, she looked calm until Hicup started being 'sucked by the door' and disappeared in the dark. -When Astrid shows up at Toothless' place, after following hiccup, she actually threatens him to tell her Who's training him, because she's convinced he's training with a person, and she wants to know who it is... maybe she wants to check if its someone to be trusted or dangerous? -Right after that, Toothless appears and runs towards them, Astrid doesn't escape to leave Hiccup behind as she "hates him", nope, she jumps on Hiccup to protect him from the 'attack', then she stands up in front of him and is willing to sacrifice herself to gain Hiccup some time to run away and hide, fortunately Toothy is a good boi so he isn't actually going to murder em, but she didn't know that! It's true that they're trained to defend eachother, but maybe if she actually hated him her first instinct would have been either to just grab the axe and not care about Hiccup much or just ruhning away before turning back to realize she was leaving her tribe mate behind. -Before the romantic flight she represented the Vikings traditional values passed on the newer generation, but with that beautiful eye-opening experience (not even lacking some thrill), she realized that her point of view was wrong and was open-minded enough to change her perspective on how she viewed dragons, what she had learned before and how wrong those views were, she's young so she was willing to accept this new reality based on the proof Hic showed her. Other than that, she was finally able to see Hiccup in his real self, he wasn't cheating in the arena, he just became himself, and Astrid liked that he finally found his true identiy. -Until the last moment when they landed and talked about the Nest, she was still tempted to follow her previous view, probably mostly on the idea that she would have helped her tribe to end the 300 year long war with dragons. But Hiccup firm "yes" to her question about him caring more about Toothless than anything else made her realize he was serious about it, she finally recognized this new image of Hiccup and showed her respect for him, along with finally allowijg her feelings to show. Also if we consider her way of showing affection is by punching and hitting the people she cares about,we can say she might have hit and threatened him before in a 'caring' way? Anyway another reason for it seeming rushed its because their relationship isn't the main focus of the movie and also, as someone in this comment section says, they likely didn't expect a sequel. In shows they aren't an official couple until years later and in the other movies i feel like the 'kids' team isn't still the focus so they didn't get explored much there either... (basically the only thing i liked of the hidden world was that the other membes of the team seemed to have finally some screentime -i later realized it was a very bad time, oh well-, unlike the 2nd movie where i dont think they really do anything much, or i dont remember a lot) Sorry for typos, im writing with my tablet and the keyboard ia lagging pretty badly lol
I would have been so happy with something like this for the third movie! She looks so much fiercer, and it actually makes her feel like she has a personality beyond “ooh, look, it’s a GIRL dragon”
my own head cannon with night furies and grimmel is yes, night furies are _regionally_ extinct the world is vast and furies are smart, they'd learn quick how to adapt in other regions where hunters wouldn't think to find them
My personal headcanon has the hidden world get thrown to heck. The original design base animals should have been kept for both Toothless and the light fury, I wouldn't make her a sub species I'd just make it clear that the original knowledge was wrong were wrong overall and take inspirations from cat genes night fury's are just black variants of an entire greater species like cats have different coat colours, the black variant can actually go basically extinct due to constant hunting. This way we can take inspiration from actual cats and say the light fury has what is called white spotting in cats and actually has black under the white gene as well this can be shown in the movie with maybe a few black scales on her this way their children make more sense and uh the new shows Thunder(I had to google his name) can still happen without massive inbreeding. (+slight chance of a tortoiseshell fury if you really take the cat genes route I love the tortoiseshell colouring on cats) I'd love the 3rd movie to be about the last big trappers as most places have become more tolerant of the dragons and know how to live with them not like berk most places wouldn't have them as basically pets but they wouldn't be so afraid of them and trying to kill them at first sight. At the en d of the movie I'd have Hiccup and Toothless are shown to be looking at a complete map of their world with many incomplete notes about where certain dragons live on and around it. I feel like the light fury and Toothless will still get together just with actual character development, baby dragons are marketable after all. Heck even spin of shows get a chance like this A spin off show about finishing the notes for the map this can have the baby dragons and hiccups children at the end. A time skip show about how hiccups old map is found and has clearly gone out of date with time basically a show that dives deeper into the dragons and how they are also animals that can evolve.(this might be marketed as an educational thing for kids teaching about evolution and how land masses change) I think I just made a more sustainable franchise damn do I wish reality was more like this.
YES!!! I'd have loved this design to appear in the movie instead. Not to mention, it'd allow for hope for the Night Fury species, because Night furies wouldn't all turn into... nightlights (wtf is this name LOL)
What's funny is that after I watched your HTTYD3 analysis video, I made my own light fury redesign (which I made look more like its original design + themed its colors around the peregrin falcon), alongside a night light redesign and was even thinking about making my own rewrite of the film. Some ideas I had was toothless finding a wild pack of light furies and making Grimmel more of a threat, as well as other threats, to make it more of a need to hide away the dragons. Also, I just have something to say about the second film. Although It is better than the third, I feel like its a little too different from the first film. It always seemed odd to me, I can't exactly pinpoint why though. Maybe because it makes the dragons seem more magical? Anyways, great video, and cool redesign! I like that you made her an albino.
Love the design, idk if anyone’s already made a comment like this but since she’s got blue eyes instead of red/pink like a typical albino, I reckon she’d be a blue eyed leucistic? I’ve seen it in snakes and I think that idea could also be really cool! Anyways awesome drawing and keep up the good work
I will say the only reason Hiccup and Astrid’s love plot was rushed is, they weren’t expecting to make another movie. But yeah, it didn’t really make sense to me either how quick it was and the fact she absolutely HATED him before.
See my personal headcannon (the one that fits the third movie... thing) is that the reason light furies as a subspecies exist (because we do see more lightfuries in other hidden world scenes) is because they used to be nightfuries. Basically, nightfurries used to be more of a neutral cloudy colour, with a smooth contoured exterior to blend into the clouds. They could at this point partialy camouflage to match the weather patterns and sky (but couldnt consciously change colour.) They would fly during the day using cloud cover to shoot bolts of thunder/plasma stuff to scare off intruder's and to mark their territory, but they were very weak bolts. During sunny days they would swim around in small lakes and catch fish (which would be their main food source and also the reason for their streamlined body) but when they began being hunted for their priced coats, some of them fled to the hidden world, and those ones began to change to a much brighter white to better camouflage into the bioluminecne of the hidden world (i dont think all the dragon in the hidden world got along, I think they still hunt and fight, they just seem more friendly because they arent constantly worried about trappers, so they arent on gaurd as much) and began being able to go invisible. They started a population there while the "nightwings" that remained on the surface world started to hunt more at night, when it was safer and their scales got darker and darker. They became more accustomed to thunder storms and for using thker small plasma shots to fight instead of just to scare things of. Their hide became more durable to resist arrows and they lost the ability to change colour as they spent all their time in a pitch black night sky. They got worse at swimming and fishing from the ground as the longer they spent in range of human weapons the more danger they were in, instead they would skim along the water surface to catch things. But as the trappers got worse and worse, eventually there were very few nightwings left, or atleast very few nightwings who went near humans. I believe they stayed in caves and mountains and other safe places, toothless got caught in the green death mind control while scouting out possible homes becuase the trappers had gotten closer to his families current one. Because nightwings are very mentally strong, he was able to throw off the mind control enough to not have to catch food for it, but he still felt the urge to hang around the area and to destroy the human town (why he kelt destroying buildings instead of lying low.) He stayed there for quite a while, and his brain was so thrown off by the mind control, that he didn't know where his family was, so he ended up staying where he was untill hiccup found him. This theory explains why there aren't a bunch of nightwings in the hidden realm, since Grimmel cant get there. Also, in this headcannon, lightwings can change colour to reveal certain bioluminecne pattern tgat they hatch with. Because why the hell not. Hey maybe if enough people like this I'll draw the proto nightfurries. Proto furries? Cloudfurries? I dunno.
OMG YES, an albino night fury would have been much better. They could have been greatly confused on if she really was a night fury too or something else. I like the idea of her being wild but attacked by dragon trappers before. ALSO the trappers using and abusing Night furies (instead of her) so she would be scared of them too. Trust no one type. Then Toothless's super silly nature could get through to her and trusting Hiccup. I would have liked her SOOOO much better too. Love the design and markings you gave her.
I REALLY love your ideas. Are you doing any more videos to expand on your au ideas because I would LOVE to see them! As much as I loved the LightFury, I thought an albino nightfury was a good choice along with bringing the Nightfurys back to show that they are not all extinct. I really like your videos, def underrated!
They really should've made her either an albino like here or go all in with the sub-species thing. Make a smooth nadder or something. Looking back, it felt kinda lazy. Also I believe nightfuries have 6 shots, I vaguely remember them mentioning it in the series, either riders or protectors of berk or whatever they were called Pretty sure there was also an episode were Toothless ran out of shots? Not sure though, been a good few years since I've last watched or listened to any of the episodes.
It's so funny, because they've made an actual GOOD Fury subspecies, how the hell did they miss the mark so bad with the Light Furies? The Sand Wraith is a canon Fury subspecies (well, mobile game only) and they look amazing, have unique abilities and live in a completely different environment than Night Furies. And Toothless fires way more than 6 just battling the Red Death, but I also recall 6 being stated in the tv shows...
@@viking-astronaut ohh yeah right, completely forgot about those. And just yesterday I tried to play School of Dragons for one final time after.. quite some years. I really like how spikey they are. Never counted the shots during that fight but I guess it was for.. plot reasons, idk. Or maybe they just didn't think about it and made Toothless op
Love the design! I generally agree with everything you said except that there are subspecies mentioned in the game Dragons: Rise of Berk! An example of this is the Barklethorn nadders which nest in ancient trees, etc. They’re described in a way that implies they are not the same as regular nadders! Edit: Fixing grammatical errors, also the wiki mentions them being subspecies (but it’s not always 100% accurate so-), another example is the Desert wraith - a subspecies of sand wraith
hey, something I noticed is that you gave her blue eyes. If you want to stick to the albino idea then she needs to have red eyes. Because genetically in reptiles most albinos are identifiable by their red eyes. If you didn't want to change it though you could make her a snow morph! Morphs are common within reptiles, especially captive ones through selective breeding. And seeing how dragons will often have different colors within their species it wouldn't be too far-fetched of an idea.
5:58 a night fury is supposed to have 6, they said it a few times in the race to edge series. i always have been a hardcore dragons fan so i know a lot of somewhat obscure lore
I honestly very much disliked the og light fury. it felt like thoothless just lost all of his camouflage, badass scales and spikes, got rounded up everywhere like a chibi and turned female. This one actually having a reason to be white makes it immediately much more reasonable and the scars + spikes make for a much better design imo. Feels like it'd fit in the first movie, where the dragons actually were dangerous animals you had to respect and gain trust of instead of being particularly stupid dogs. _I disapprove of dog disrespect-_ okay i need to stop ranting very cool patterns, lineart and shading btw
I’ve never seen the third movie or have watched any of the movies for a long time but I saw some clips of the Light Fury and I prefer this design way more over the other in the film.
Hiccup not learning from 2nd movie that trying to go and talk to the enemy is a bad idea after his father's death was just terrible. He literally put at risk his dragon and his girlfriend to a guy who drove Night Furies to extinction was such a bad move. His mother and Astrid weren't the badass women of the show anymore. All the dragons just got dumbed down into being mindless pets. All depth of the characters and relationships just gone. Hiccup not being properly respected as chief, being made fun of on multiple occasions. Not actually showing doing his role as a chief. And saying goodbye forever to dragons was the most stupid part of all. You want to tell me the whole idea of them not being full without the other just thrown out of the window. Separating the worlds, making dragons into legends, just so people hundreds, or thousands of years later repeat the mistakes of everybody - Stoic, vikings and villains, trying to kill them and dragons not knowing humans can be friends. Great.
the idea of a night fury subspecies would be cooler if it didn't turn out that Toothless can have the SAME abilities as the light fury. also, the light fury was supposed to be semi-aquatic in the original idea and there's like one concept art of her having blue, more fish-like scales. if they had kept it, it would've made more sense why the light fury is just so... smooth in her design. but we all know that while designing male and female animals, the female always have to be smaller, cuter, rounder and prettier. her final design is LITERALLY the embodiment of "male animals strong and rough, female animals cute and round". she even has glitter eyeliner and her tail fins are heart-shaped!! i really loved your idea for an albino light fury and the re-telling of the 3rd movie in general. i really don't like the movie at all, starting from the characters' designs, through their personalities, the plot, and then finishing at the ending. i hate the trope that you can have only 1 meaningful relationship in your life; either your beast friend or a love interest, and you have to choose between them. the idea that dragons and humans are bad for each other makes no sense, because there was literally no proof of it in the earlier movies. also how did they even get ALL dragons to go to the hidden world? there MUST have been other civilizations/islands/villages that were friendly with dragons, right? Toothless isn't an alpha of all dragons, just the Berk dragons. and why should other people lose their dragons only because one dude decided it's for the best??? also it just throws the entire 1st and 2nd movies out the window, since their message is that the bond between a human and a dragon can be very strong. so making the villain trappers as a whole would be sooo much better. and would reinforce the message from the previous movies; that while humans and dragons can hurt each other (like the dragons hurting the people of Berk, and now the trappers hurting the dragons in general), they can help each other and be stronger together.
I love the patterns for this dragon. I’m split on the sub-species decision, because I do like the idea of Toothless being the sole survivor of his species and there being a sub-species. Perhaps while the Night Furies were being hunted down, some escaped to the Hidden World and became Light Furies, which I’ve always seen as a Hidden World dragon, not the common dragon you see on the surface. I’ve never been a fan of the Light Fury’s design because she looks like a stereotypical female animal with the white base and blue eyes. I really love the light tan patterns that you gave her, and the scars and roughness to her. And she’s still a beautiful dragon! Anyways, rant over. It was interesting hearing ur opinions!!
looks great Just wish it had a more pinkish eye instead of blue ik some albino animals have blue eyes but thesee red eyes would contrast with toothless' green more
Omg! This is soooo much better than the light furry! I was not happy with that movie at all. I don't like how they made toothless look cutsiefied and they took all of his patterns away that he had in the first movie. And the way you described how the movies should have gone is perfect. I am so glad another artist feels the same way I do!
This looks more leucistic than albino btw, BUT. What if: the nightfuries *were* hunted 'to extinction', or rather, similar to other media (undertale, tmnt, mass effect, transformers), the hunted species actually went 'underground', and similar to toothless finding the nest in the first movie, toothless follows this skittish albino (or another nightfury, or lightfury, or as we've done so with our parnter, a vitiligo nightfury female) to the hidden world, losing them along the way and letting instinct guide him *home*. To what we find out, because of coloration and behavior, is the last few families of night furies in the hidden world, including Toothless's family (siblings and/or parents). These dragons are hostile at first, but similar to 'luna', once they see hiccup trying to protect them (they went after toothless and grimmel's bs still happened, catching one of them for 'bait', they protect the berkians in favor of helping toothless, and rather than leaving. they migrate back and forth and some people actively move closer to the hidden entrance to see their clingy dragons more often.
Thank you. I despise her overly round and cute cannon design; if she was a semi-aquatic dragon then sure it makes sense but she's not, plus she's the only overly femminine female dragon in the whole series.
What really bothered me about grimmel is that he’s literally just a Drago re-skin. Honestly since the first movie’s villain was a dragon, and the second movies villain was a human, I would make the third movies villain a dragon/rider duo. Then you could do the whole “hiccup has to deal with the fact that he’s a lot like the villain” plot line without it coming out forced and cheesy. Edit: actually, MOST of the third movie was straight up copied from the 2nd movie, right down to the whole “hidden world” thing. Like they already did that with Valka’s sanctuary.
I don’t think I completely agree with all your opinions, but thank you for sharing them and I REALLY like your art, which I think is super accurate. I would like Toothless and the light fury (witch I named something else in my head but I can’t remember what) to be mates but I really like the idea of them being siblings, too. I also agree with you on Hiccup and Astrid being in love to fast- it could of happened eventually, but not that quickly. I also think the light fury and Astrid’s dragon would be friends, eventually, somehow, idk why. Maybe u should make a picture of them. So, yeah! (Sorry for the long comment 😅)
on the pacing of hiccup and astrids romantic pacing- teens are weird like that sometimes, im still one myself and O.M.G. i could see that really happen.
I thought ghost-fire or ghost-pyre. I also thought that mabe if they where a dragon hunter's dragon maybe Vallhala-bane? just my thoughts but I love the headconnon of this rather than the 3rd movie (side note) I founf the lightfurry annoying as a whole fo r a few diffrent reasons including the same issues you had with them :1 "every main character needs a love interest and blah blah blah" I hate that. 2: she was basicly usless in defending herself making damsel in distress trope. :3 the design felt lazy, there was nothing interesting about it and it felt like a blank slate like "baby's first drawing of night furry" stuff. 4: subspecies and not another night furry. So THIS is nice
I watched this video when it first came out but I only found out this fact a little bit ago The reason why there were no nightfuries is because universal disapproved the original script with them, so it was either subspecies or come up with a whole new script (I know they were already having to write a new script but I mean like genre-wise and they'd have to add a whole new reason for the hidden worlds existence) I still don't like the route they went with the subspecies I've been wanting to make my own designs for nightfury subspecies for a while but I want to have a voiceover like in this video but I'm nervous about having my voice out there so I'm waiting to get my hands on a better voice changer I love your design and ideas in this video I would've loved to see a movie like this instead And I love the way you draw nightfuries
Love;y you probably won’t see my comment but what amazing art I totally agree with your idea! I loved the third film when I was younger but now it’s kind of… meh. Just a small thing I want to point out is albinism causes red/pink eyes, however luisticism (sorry about spelling) causes blue eyes so maybe you could make her lueistic!!!! Really great art as always looking forward to your next video!
Correction: Albinism is the congenital absence of melanin in an animal or plant resulting in white hair, feathers, scales and skin and reddish pink or BLUE eyes. It is a common misconception that all albino animals have characteristic pink or red eyes (resulting from the lack of pigment in the iris allowing the blood vessels of the retina to be visible), however this is not the case for some forms of albinism. Due to the lack of melanin production in both the retinal pigmented epithelium (RPE) and iris, those affected by albinism sometimes have pink pupil due to the underlying blood vessels showing through. However, this is not always the case and many albino animals do not have pink pupils.[9] The common belief that all albinos have pink pupils results in many albinos being incorrectly labeled as 'leucistic'. -thanks wikipedia While red/pink eyes are common, blue is definitely possible!
And also, leucism does not CAUSE blue colored eyes either. The neural crest disorders that cause leucism do not result in pink pupils and therefore most leucistic animals have normally colored eyes. This is because the melanocytes of the RPE do not derive from the neural crest. Instead, an out-pouching of the neural tube generates the optic cup that, in turn, forms the retina. As these cells are from an independent developmental origin, they are typically unaffected by the genetic cause of leucism. -again, wikipedia
Did anyone else see that one fan video before httyd 3 came out where they made an albino night fury? I can't find the video anymore, but this video reminds me of it.
I’ve always wondered why all of the Night Furies and Light Furies weren’t all the mix like Toothless and the Light Fury’s dragonets, because it seemed to me like all the females were Light Furies, but I guess they are different species, but that still doen’t make sence, considering that they can interbreed, and I’m still wondering that to this day.
I just LOVE your replacement of the Light Fury and your ideas too! The replacement just looks awesome! It did bother me that one of the producers/directors (idk which roles do which lmao) commented that “The Light Fury doesn’t look feminine enough”, like why would you want to place beauty standards on a literal dragon? So this just eased my anger. I do like the fact that you were trying to go for a “Albino Night Fury” instead of the idea of a sub species which is the Light Fury. But sadly, your replacement of the Light Fury wouldn’t be considered “Albino”, because for an organism to be albino, the eyes also have to be affected by the pigmentation, which will make the eyes of the organism a bright red or pink. However, your “Light Fury” would be considered leucistic, which is similar to Albinism but the pupils and/or eyes aren’t affected. Animals with leucism tend to have beautiful blue eyes. So technically, this replacement would be considered a “Leucistic version of the Night Fury” instead of a “Albino version of the Night Fury”. This still looks awesome regardless! I freaking love your ideas too! And sorry for acting like a “Know it all”.
About 1:30. What about nightmares, boneknappers and amorwings looking very similar. Or Timberjacks and Typhomerangs. But don’t get me wrong. I don’t like httyd 3, or the lightfurys design. But I just don’t think, that’s that’s a very good point.
Honestly kinda sad they went the genocide route with nightfuries, because there was a much easier and less tragic option narratively for why Toothless was the only one they’d seen around Berk: just say that/discover that nightfuries aren’t a native species. Dragons can fly, but so can birds, so it wouldn’t be that odd if there are species local to other parts of the world. Especially considering the existence of ocean dragons/etc. and how far north Berk supposedly is. It would have been easy to establish Toothless as either an escaped smuggled egg/baby, OR as the orphan of a breeding pair that Grimmel killed. Possibly, it could even be something like Toothless and the Albino are actually long lost siblings, since dragon broods seem to be a 2-6 eggs situation, and Grimmel killed their parents while they were extremely young. Then, he took the albino because it wasn’t able to hide in the darkness as well as Toothless could and because it was unique. Maybe could have been a fur trade situation where he wanted to raise it until it was bigger so he could get a larger hide from it afterwards, since it’s albino and all. Then establish young Toothless as searching for this lost sibling when he encounters the “queen” from the first movie, and subsequently “forgets” he has a brood-mate. Then do a flash-forward where Toothless wakes up after appearing to have a stressful dream, which we can guess is a faint memory of this lost sibling. Now the story can focus on Toothless’s side of things, which was never really developed in the movies, and can stick to the reconciliation/family/power of friendship themes established in 1&2, but still have a villain the audience will hate (for hurting Toothless’s family) and hope for the furies as a species. We could also see more Valka skills, since she should have decent experience rehabilitating injured and distrustful dragons from all her time at the sanctuary. (Insert epic final battle and long term abuser confrontation by tag team Toothless and Sibling) Then maybe an epilogue scene where the siblings travel further south/wherever, and meet a thriving colony of furies. (Along with Hiccup furiously scribbling more of his world map into existence and being happy for them. Possibly taking a step back, as if offering again to let Toothless “go”, only for both dragons to push/drag him along, subtly reaffirming their bond. The end.) (Then maybe Toothless getting a mate can be a short special like the egg/reproduction plot point was to begin with. It could be in documentary form, where we get to see Toothless struggle with performing the correct mating behaviors/using human practices, or behaviors from other dragon species since that’s what he would have had to learn from. And also rejection from his injury/general oddness; then pull a Pixar where on of the female furies likes him because he’s so different, yada yada, the end.)
I personally didn't like Astrid just getting with hiccup after a flight with Toothless though I get that her beliefs about dragons was changed due to how hiccup talks to and treated Toothless in front of her/ while riding on him for the flight. Hiccup explains what is happening with the dragons and why they do what they do so she either stays hating him, or understands his reasoning. Hence why she decided to help him instead of fight against him. Although her kissing him after the flight felt forced. It was a movie for it's time.
I love your redesign. I've yet to see the movie (for whatever reason i did not get to see it when it was in theathers), so i don't have any opinions on it, but i can see the light fury design being uncanny and a bit too "girly" for someone's taste. Also her being larger than Toothless makes sense from a biological standpoint, and also fits my head canon of Toothless having short king energy
I really like the concept of Albino Night Fury. Come on, the figure you drew is only partially albino full albino would have no pigment in the eyes which would cause the irises to be characteristically bright red + claws would be white not black due to lack of pigment so it's not exactly albino but partially albion. But I love the concepts of these scars Night furies are not strong dragons they are quite small compared to other dragons + their scales are quite weak their strongest side is their speed and dark color and the fact that they hunt at night so they are not noticeable, albion night fury is no longer what gave a way to survive + in nature albion's usually die quite quickly because of how easy they are to be seen + parents often reject young with albinism so the fact that albino night fury has a lot of scarring is a great detail
I personally like to go by the idea that the dragons mostly lack obvious sexual dimorphism and this fury is just a little bigger than toothless, a little rougher, etc. cause that's just how she looks as an individual
tho I'm in no way against the idea of female night fury's being the bigger/rougher looking ones heh
Heck that’s so smart. I love the series more than the movie tbh-
Recommendation for a name “Daydream” as a nod to the books, since in the books Toothless’ species is called the Toothless Daydream
Woah! That’s a cool idea! I would’ve never thought of that.
Wasn't he a Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus?
@@thegreivousone2444yeah I don’t remember any species called the toothless daydream
I think it was a made up species so that toothless wouldn't be a common Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus?
@@thegreivousone2444 That was the big reveal at the end but before that everyone thought he was a Toothless Daydream, if I remember correctly
i like how you gave her a more creamy like colouring instead of just white as snow with some cream or grey spots or didn’t make her just completely white
I'm glad, thankyou!
I modelled her after the design of httyd1 toothless/how night furies looked in that 😌
@@MyUniverseinaBox also if you haven’t already then camp you maybe redesign Thunder (from the nine realms) please?
@@notnamelesschannel6367 PLEASE do so, he looks so UGLY.
Your redesign of the lightfurry to be just an albino nightfurry is much better than having another nightfurry clone, it looks really cool and I love the scars and patterns you gave it!^^
AA I'm glad, thankyou!!
bruh it’s not night furry it’s night fury man
@@beef4899 what are you a grammar teacher? It doesn’t matter all the others who liked my comment understood what I said, only you have a bug up in your ass about it
I love your redesign and concept of the albino night fury
I'm so glad :']
Ah yeah I've heard that idea thrown around a bit, having a flock of night furies hiding in the hidden world- but as a solution to that and to explain the rare appearance of night furies without playing the extinction card;
For a start, it's kind of just how night fury's work: they're good at hiding!
@@doctordestructo3360 Ayo, I'm glad to hear that!!
The albino thing is so simple but so genius. I personally just wanted a female nightfury, but this would have been great too. Awesome redesign!
Awesome work! Definetly what I would've loved to see in the movie instead.
Thankyou!! :]
I still liked the original light fury better-

@@MyUniverseinaBox fun fact ur night fury isn't albino but leucistic albino animals have red eyes while leucistic animals have blue/dark eyes
This is very intresting! I would probably have preffered this over what we got in the movie.
I'm glad you think so, thanks!
Beautiful! I adore her improved look. Who says a badass design with markings, sharp lines and scars can't also be cute? (Fuck you Dean)
An albino Night Fury would have been awesome, you could do so much with the concept!
I love it
also hard agree, they set such a low bar, pretty much every re-write I've seen is better LMAO.
Thankyou!!
I would probably consider her to be leucistic rather than albino due to her blue eyes as reptiles typically appear to have red eyes when they lack melanin, but the definitions for those terms tend to be used rather loosely anyway.
you should definitely do more speedpaints like this, i loved hearing you explain your thought process and design choices!
this is a awesome design it also make would made more sense with why she behaves the way that she does then the lightfury who apart from being in a cage with a muzzle in one scene doesn't show her being mistreated by trappers which ether details that she hasn't been captured for very long or was just a newly captured dragon but even that doesn't explain her behavior toward humans at all
Honestly (for headcannon part), I'd think it'd be a good idea for Hiccup ta hold a vote for who should he chief and for everyone ta choose him.
Also with it being an albino thats absolutely a trophy for someone like grimmel that he might very well keep alive to flaunt it off, use for traps, lure other dragon riders in because "oh what is that??"
His reasons for usuing light furies was to bate the nightfuries, i think that same concept could work here.
Ayo, thankyou sm!!
Name her Ruthless! She definitely fits the description
This is an AMAZING drawing!
I do wanna point out though that this is in no way albino. An albino nightfury would have white/translucent claws and red/pink eyes.
Blue eyes do exist in albinism, though. But I can see your point!
@@shadicy
Albino mammal eyes are basically never fully icy blue like in this SpeedPaint. The majority have a reddish tinge due to the blood vessels being visible. And practically no albino non-mammals have blue eyes in general, most are almost solid red.
@@EarthlingCanine oh? that’s a lovely fact! i’ll keep that in mind when making albino characters, thank you for letting me know ^^
OML HOW, NOT ALL ALBINOS HAVE RED EYES
@@EarthlingCanine so???? and the russian population is only 1%, still a huge amount of people, if blue eyes still exist in alkbinism it could be tehre, also i dont think dragons are mammals and even if they are many humans (we are mammals) have purple eyes :)
Honestly, we already saw a sort of albinism with the Screaming Death (its mutated beyond simple pigment loss tho) and it would make sense to see that in other species (or even later find out that Toothless is acually an Melanistic Fury and they were suppose to be Black/White from the start, reason why he was the only one of his kind: he is an outcast of his species)
HTTYD 3 could been such an amazing way to not only introduce more Night Furys (Furies?) but also be a sorta documentary!
Love the video style with the talking! Was nice to listen to!! And the design omg its beautiful
AA I'm glad!! Thankyou! :']
She's goregous👏👏
I agree with everyhing you said, I too had the idea that the 3rd movie would be about finding more NightFuries and rescuing them, very similar to how you described your AU!!
As various people's observations made me notice, and my own of course, there's a bunch of details which are easy to miss about Astrid in the 1st half of the movie:
-At the end of the war opening scene, when Stoic is scolding Hic for making a mess and making the dragons escape, you can see all the kids making fun of Hic with angry and smug faces, instead Astrid is in the far left corner with a very sad and disappointed face, she keeps her eyes on Hiccup walking away while others keep joking around.
(basically the only thing i liked of the hidden world was that the other membes of the team seemed to have finally some screentime -i later realized it was a very bad time, oh well-, unlike the 2nd movie where i dont think they really do anything much, or i dont remember a lot)
Sorry for typos, im writing with my tablet and the keyboard ia lagging pretty badly lol
I would have been so happy with something like this for the third movie! She looks so much fiercer, and it actually makes her feel like she has a personality beyond “ooh, look, it’s a GIRL dragon”
I love herrr!! Beautiful design and awesome concept work as well!
Much cooler design and very pretty artwork!
my own head cannon with night furies and grimmel is yes, night furies are _regionally_ extinct
the world is vast and furies are smart, they'd learn quick how to adapt in other regions where hunters wouldn't think to find them
My personal headcanon has the hidden world get thrown to heck.
(+slight chance of a tortoiseshell fury if you really take the cat genes route I love the tortoiseshell colouring on cats)
I'd love the 3rd movie to be about the last big trappers as most places have become more tolerant of the dragons and know how to live with them not like berk most places wouldn't have them as basically pets but they wouldn't be so afraid of them and trying to kill them at first sight.
At the en
d of the movie I'd have Hiccup and Toothless are shown to be looking at a complete map of their world with many incomplete notes about where certain dragons live on and around it.
I feel like the light fury and Toothless will still get together just with actual character development, baby dragons are marketable after all.
Heck even spin of shows get a chance like this
A spin off show about finishing the notes for the map this can have the baby dragons and hiccups children at the end.
A time skip show about how hiccups old map is found and has clearly gone out of date with time basically a show that dives deeper into the dragons and how they are also animals that can evolve.(this might be marketed as an educational thing for kids teaching about evolution and how land masses change)
I think I just made a more sustainable franchise damn do I wish reality was more like this.
Anyways awesome drawing and keep up the good work
Very beautiful dragon design, also based opinions on how the movies could have been improved 👌
People make you make me want to become an artist.. BUT i'll save that for people who have the motivation and drive to do so.
THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL WHOOOOA I love how you draw the anatomy!
Thankyou!!
Uhhhh underrated much?!!!!! Where'd all the likes views and subs go? ☹️
I will say the only reason Hiccup and Astrid’s love plot was rushed is, they weren’t expecting to make another movie.
But yeah, it didn’t really make sense to me either how quick it was and the fact she absolutely HATED him before.
I’ve always loved this style of speedpaint with commentary over top of the video! Great drawing also, made me want to draw dragons again!
I dunno.
y e s, yes to everything you just said in the video.
6:36 THANK YOU. Although I personally just don't like them together due to my own biases (never liked the bullied/bully trope)
I love the idea of an albino nightfury.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS !!! its SOO much better than the movie one, less soft looking and cooler 😎😎😎 awsome :)
Hehehe, thankyou!!
They really should've made her either an albino like here or go all in with the sub-species thing. Make a smooth nadder or something. Looking back, it felt kinda lazy.
Also I believe nightfuries have 6 shots, I vaguely remember them mentioning it in the series, either riders or protectors of berk or whatever they were called
Pretty sure there was also an episode were Toothless ran out of shots?
Honestly someone needs to remake this movie and I feel like they should definitely lean more towards your ideas
OOoO Luecistic Night fury :0
it looks rly nice :D
Thanks!!
Dreamworks made the Light Fury look cute and nice, Universe made the Light Fury REAL
This is so much better then the original, and please do the voice over again
I think blue eyes make her leucistic, but I'm just a nerd. This is cool!
you are a nerd who acnt even biology correctly, not all albinos have red eyes
And seeing how dragons will often have different colors within their species it wouldn't be too far-fetched of an idea.
not every albino animal ahs red yes, you all cant even do biology corrctly
5:58 a night fury is supposed to have 6, they said it a few times in the race to edge series. i always have been a hardcore dragons fan so i know a lot of somewhat obscure lore
Lovely! The romance bit always felt weird to me anyway
A night fury has only six shots but he really shot more often than six and they never seem to care about that fact that he’s got limited ones.
DAY PHANTOM
It was interesting hearing ur opinions!!
looks great
Just wish it had a more pinkish eye instead of blue
ik some albino animals have blue eyes but thesee red eyes would contrast with toothless' green more
Omg! This is soooo much better than the light furry! I was not happy with that movie at all. I don't like how they made toothless look cutsiefied and they took all of his patterns away that he had in the first movie. And the way you described how the movies should have gone is perfect. I am so glad another artist feels the same way I do!
Not bad, maybe a bit to crazy on the scars. Also SoD Light Fury is basically this (recolored Night Light).
hell yeah for commentary
Name recommendation, banshee. It’s a ghost from Irish folklore that wails when someone is about to die
This looks more leucistic than albino btw,
BUT.
So true! I also feel that way, they really did her a disservice
I watched this video when it first came out but I only found out this fact a little bit ago
The reason why there were no nightfuries is because universal disapproved the original script with them, so it was either subspecies or come up with a whole new script
(I know they were already having to write a new script but I mean like genre-wise and they'd have to add a whole new reason for the hidden worlds existence)
I still don't like the route they went with the subspecies
I've been wanting to make my own designs for nightfury subspecies for a while but I want to have a voiceover like in this video but I'm nervous about having my voice out there so I'm waiting to get my hands on a better voice changer
I love your design and ideas in this video
I would've loved to see a movie like this instead
And I love the way you draw nightfuries
This is canon now ❤
Love;y you probably won’t see my comment but what amazing art I totally agree with your idea!
Correction:
Albinism is the congenital absence of melanin in an animal or plant resulting in white hair, feathers, scales and skin and reddish pink or BLUE eyes.

While red/pink eyes are common, blue is definitely possible!

Is beatiful 😊❤
Did anyone else see that one fan video before httyd 3 came out where they made an albino night fury? I can't find the video anymore, but this video reminds me of it.

I’ve always wondered why all of the Night Furies and Light Furies weren’t all the mix like Toothless and the Light Fury’s dragonets, because it seemed to me like all the females were Light Furies, but I guess they are different species, but that still doen’t make sence, considering that they can interbreed, and I’m still wondering that to this day.
I vote on the name "Ghostwind"
Yeah, I don't consider the tv shows canon or relevant
hence I said, first, second, and third movie; I didn't mention the spin off shows
Honestly kinda sad they went the genocide route with nightfuries, because there was a much easier and less tragic option narratively for why Toothless was the only one they’d seen around Berk: just say that/discover that nightfuries aren’t a native species.
(Insert epic final battle and long term abuser confrontation by tag team Toothless and Sibling)
Then maybe an epilogue scene where the siblings travel further south/wherever, and meet a thriving colony of furies. (Along with Hiccup furiously scribbling more of his world map into existence and being happy for them. Possibly taking a step back, as if offering again to let Toothless “go”, only for both dragons to push/drag him along, subtly reaffirming their bond. The end.)
(Then maybe Toothless getting a mate can be a short special like the egg/reproduction plot point was to begin with.

I honestly would have preferred more sub species for other dragons, kinda adds more realism imo ^^
That turned out GREAT! What app do you use to draw?
Thankyou! I use Clip Studio Paint EX
it's listed in the desc :]
