The badness of the sequels is the main reason I still kinda believe that the Wachowskis didn't write the original movie. They didn't create that universe so they didn't know what to do with it, all they could do was to dial it up to 11 and hope that more explosions would trick people. The Wachowskis doesn't have a good track record in Hollywood, only V for Vendetta is any good the rest is mediocre. Although everything they make gets compared to the Matrix so the scale is probably wack. The main thing I remember from the sequels is that mass rave-group-sex scene. That was cringe. I was also completely stoic when all the minor characters died when the machines attacked Zion - Good riddance! I haven't seen Resurrection, I pretend that the sequels doesn't exist.

Well done review. Reloaded and Revolutions were most enjoyable for me in the not-in-matrix scenes, like the battle in the dock. Not the foam cave rave. That was horrific to behold. The chemistry between neo and trinity was nonexistent in the last two as well.
Only the first movie was great, but that’s because it was stolen… You can tell the directors had no idea what the hell they was doing in the sequels. Just faking it till they make it. This is no different than the industry giving Ridley Scott full credit for Alien forgetting that Dan O’Bannon is the true genius behind the story.
I mean Dan obannon wrote the script yeah but it takes a completely different set of skills to direct a full length big budget studio backed motion picture …… I would credit Ridley Scott with making the movie come alive a lot more than someone who put just the words on paper
@@julianmitchell5776 You are correct. It took an entire team of talented people to transform Alien from the initial B-movie it was meant to be to the classic it became. The problem is none of those great individuals are mentioned, only Ridley taking all the credit as if he was the sole creator, writer, director, and visionary of the Alien story. That’s like saying the 1996’ Bulls was only great solely because of Michael Jordan, but it required the greatest of Toni Kukoc, Luc Longley, Dennis Rodman, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Ron Harper, and Steve Kerr. That’s why none of the Alien prequels met or exceeded Alien. Ridley didn’t have the talent to act as filters to develop a coherent and compelling story.
@@pvt.reefer6163 Not what, but from whom… The brothers/sisters/whatever the hell they are stole the Matrix story from their counterpart. No different than good ole Zuck stealing the concept of Facebook…
I enjoyed all 3 movies, I never understood why they got so much hate. Nothing is ever going to be like the first of a trilogy, and people need to accept that.
Meh, I think the whole trilogy is great, it explores some of the ideas introduced in the first one, giving us more of characters like Oracle, which is probably the most interesting character in the whole series. I think it's a little overused, saying that first movie was just oh so much better. It's a bandwagon people like to jump on for some reason.
Well done. I didn’t realize the ironic connection to Simulcra and Simulation. Baudrillard’s book had 3 stages with the 3rd paying homage to Werner Sombart’s failed theory of Late Capitalism. The 3 stages feature a collapsing sense of reality. The Matrix had 3 movies that feature a collapsing sense of quality. So they kind of got it right as a metaphor for how poorly planned things end badly.
Vehemently disagree with the Architect scene being bad. It’s one of my favorite scenes of ALL movies. A lot of the stuff in the 2nd movie was bs, but not that part.
The Wachowskis shot their creative wad in the first "Matrix" film. Nothing they've done since has been anywhere near as cohesive, sharp, subversive or well-executed.
The first film was great and didn’t need a sequel. The 2nd film was mostly bad and the 3rd was utter garbage. I’ve watched The Matrix a few times as a stand alone film but never the sequels.
I think the last matrix movie was the modern gremlins 2. The first half of the movie is about being part of some soul sucking corporation that is destroying the art it's built on. It's literally a movie about how dumb these reboots are. The directors they where told either you'll direct it or you won't but we will make a movie.
Very well well made video. I think it might be hard for people to believe how much those first three movies influenced "cool culture" at the time. It's all very cringe to look at now, but it's still very nostalgic :) Also it is a little weird how there are so many negative comments on your video complaining about how you supposedly didn't see the deeper meaning. But like Laurence Fishburn said, it's not that complicated lol
You really did have to be there to understand how pervasive it was. Unfortunately that clearly led a lot of people to form their entire personalities around it and convince themselves that it actually was super duper deep and complex, rather than just an smarter-than-average action movie.
The crazy insane fights take place within a computer system … it makes perfect sense that they look a little wonky in some aspects and the cgi comes to light in some scenes . It literally makes perfect sense and looks cool givin the scenario they take place in
I like your videos, but I really don't understand what are you talking about. Of course first movie is the best, but I really like second and the third. Actually watching them for second and third time made them better. You are watching them from the wrong perspective. I mean sure, they are movies, you can watch them as any other movie. But for example, third movie, scenes with Zion. Try not to watch them as a blockbuster or action film, try not to watch them as a movie, but try to put yourself there. Like first movie, you are either cool revolutionary redpill, or calm bluepill that doesn't care about reality. There are no more roles for you really. You can't be an agent, they are programs, not humans. In the third movie you can put yourself into the place of zionist who is most certainly would die. And not just killed, but massacred. Put yourself into the shoes of those soldiers in exoskeletons. Minutes before robots will break walls. You know you can't stand them, tones of people will die. Imagine seeing that wall cracking. Imagine swarms of machines getting into your base. Endless swarms. It is a hell. Soldiers dying one by one. You know what made me appreciate it even more? Animatrix, Second Renaissance. That freaking scary. Imagine yourself on those battlefields. Or second movie. Why would you be afraid of agent Smith? Why would you be afraid of him in the first movie? Neo is the main protagonist. He kinda should survive, right? In the second movie Smith can't defeat Neo, right, that's okay, Neo is growing stronger. But what Smith can do now is erasing Matrix people identity. And in the third movie we see he erased everyone. Like that's it, if Cypher would survive in the end of first movie and came back to program somehow, he would be dead, no more delicious food or movie roles. He is dead. Oracle orphans? Dead. Everyone are dead. That's the horror.
Ok, ok, ok....bringing up Steven Segal in a discussion about movies is like bringing up the Nazis in all other contexts. Segal is a 1 of 1. He's informative or analogous of NOTHING else.
@@outsideintel Great TH-cam video, but I found the background music was way too loud and distracting. I would strongly suggest you get rid of it altogether. I firmly believe that background music is distracting, annoying, and unnecessary (especially for educational or opinionated videos with lots of talking). I also believe that people want to hear you speak/get information/hear your opinions and not hear generic background music that doesn't really add anything useful and that people have to mentally filter out. Plus it will be one less thing you will have to do when making videos. Thank you.
I think the first half of Reloaded is far better than any movie I can remember seeing in the last five years. It had the potential to be better than the first Matrix movie in my humble opinion.
But Neo suddenly being able to use his powers in the 'real world' is an indication that it isn't real, as reality there doesn't work like that. So they all know they are in a simulation. The fact that you missed that scene out completely shows bias.
Two cross dressers produced a cash grab within a cash grab. The only reason the Matrix movie was well-financed and well circulated is because this acted as a stepping stone to promote simulation THEORY. There's a reason why things like the Mandela effect, the theoretical Multiverse, and all things pseudo intellectual related to the quote unquote camp of quantum mechanics is shopped around in the public sphere. But most people aren't terribly bright so they wouldn't recognize an agenda if it was in the programming. This is a great time to think about how many people didn't understand the dialogue presented by the personification of the demiurge otherwise known as father's sky or Jupiter...
I failed to understand the goal here, everyone on heart knows that please everybody about something specific its impossible. when I was about to reach 10 min here, I just got myself losing time you see? Its like watching hamsters running on a weel.
Ouch someone feels hurt by this analysis that in the end, summarizes the movies as fun “candy”. Like most critiques or think pieces people tune out or just stop watching when something is said that is critical of something they love but they miss the full picture. 😮💨
I'm sorry you couldn't comprehend the story line and adult themes addressed in the sequels... Stick to "The Expendables" or the Fast and The Furious movies next time.
@@kennywilkinson913 It was fresh, a masterpiece, but the sequels explored the themes further and were also masterpieces on their own, imo. That newness of matrix 1 has a pull of its own, there is more mystery, the progression is so smooth. The sequels were meant to explore the world further, and yeah pacing could probably be better, and a lot of people just didn't like what that lead to. I think they do it very well in the sequels, imo, especially showing us more of the Oracle. In the end, it's all opinion, and all three movies have their place in me heart. I think too many people rag on the sequels though, to the point it feels like not genuine opinions to me, instead people just default to what they hear everyone else say. I think they were all amazing movies, and I'm off to watch that chase sequence again lmao
@@monkeeseemonkeedoo3745 I do believe they had no idea what they had with the 1st one and hit lighting in a bottle, it genuinely made you question things. The film holds up under scrutiny, it sticks to its own rules and every action has a suitable reaction based upon each characters Identity The sequels were a disjointed mess that made you question if they knew what they was doing, now I'm older I realise they took the best ideas from other sources and made a cohesive story that was a masterpiece, but they had no real ideas of their own and hence the story kind of fell apart imo. Everything was made meaningless by the end of the 3rd movie, the matrix is a standalone movie and one of tge best films of all time.
@@kennywilkinson913 I disagree, what was disjointed about the sequels? Do you refer to the fact that Neo's powers apply in the 'real world', as it happens in the third movie? Because that, while not explained, is not necessarily disjointed. I take it as a part of the mystery, that Neo DOES have a mystical, even spiritual power to him, in the same way Jesus performed miracles. Neo is meant to be a representation of Jesus, and this is clear and progressed in every movie, culminating with his literal sacrifice. To me, that is not disjointed, it is simply another part of the movie to interpret and think on. Also, the main idea around the entire series is determinism, they explore this in all three movies, many major characters have something to add to it and think on. There is no disjointedness there. You are entitled to your opinion, not everyone will like the movies. But to me, their emphasis on determinism, the explorations with characters like Sati and her parents, a program's conception of 'love', it's so well done. The Oracle is one of my favorite characters to think about, and all three movies add to this and her character.
This is all pointless opinion by people who don’t understand the premise of the story. I don’t LOVE the sequels, they weren’t masterpieces, but I understood them. Everything wrong with them is the comical fighting and long drawn out scenes. But the to say things like they should have flushed out the real world more or they should have real world collide with matrix is laughable.
The Matrix was/is an angsty teenagers mock theology paper written at the last minute in a panic that was then used as a film script. It's not as clever as it wants to be and is little more than superficial window dressing 😶🌫😶
Not the deepest thinking in that vein, however, the original film is a very entertaining engaging romp. The sum of it's parts: acting, cinematography, sound all add up to unique; for a Hollywood blockbuster experience.
Wow, if you're not impressed with these movies, I wonder what you have to say about the absolute trash of modern Star Wars and all the other crap of the last 15 years? I'm thankful for these movies of the past and will look past small problems like the fight with 500 Smiths.

What was it stolen from?
@@pvt.reefer6163 Not what, but from whom… The brothers/sisters/whatever the hell they are stole the Matrix story from their counterpart. No different than good ole Zuck stealing the concept of Facebook…
Was it the matrix that made the bowling ball sound
Reloaded, when he throws the one Smith into the group of others during the burly brawl.
I was a teenager when this movie came out. I swear I had to watch it like 4 times before I actually started to understand the story. LOL.
I've always head-canoned Fight Club being an earlier "One" of The Matrix
I remember going to get RELOADED & they sold me the 3rd movie. Reloaded was corrupted & I never saw it
I enjoyed all 3 movies, I never understood why they got so much hate. Nothing is ever going to be like the first of a trilogy, and people need to accept that.
The first two were good. And saying the effects were bad is insane. The freeway chase scene in the second movie still hasn’t been beat
I personally don't think the first film has aged all that well, so the sequels don't seem all that much different in quality.
Keloland shoutout in intro?!?!?!
Remove the Kung Fu and then a damn good movie remains.
Vehemently disagree with the Architect scene being bad. It’s one of my favorite scenes of ALL movies. A lot of the stuff in the 2nd movie was bs, but not that part.
I llove candy.
And thats ok.
Wow, what a finish 🎉
The Wachowskis shot their creative wad in the first "Matrix" film. Nothing they've done since has been anywhere near as cohesive, sharp, subversive or well-executed.
The first film was great and didn’t need a sequel. The 2nd film was mostly bad and the 3rd was utter garbage. I’ve watched The Matrix a few times as a stand alone film but never the sequels.
8:38 not sure if Trinity or Synthia Rothrock
I think the last matrix movie was the modern gremlins 2. The first half of the movie is about being part of some soul sucking corporation that is destroying the art it's built on. It's literally a movie about how dumb these reboots are. The directors they where told either you'll direct it or you won't but we will make a movie.
CCK philosophy's video on the subject is great though.
What I don’t get about people thinking?? Where these writers getting the idea from 🙏🏾
Great channel. Please do Friday the 13th
Very well well made video. I think it might be hard for people to believe how much those first three movies influenced "cool culture" at the time. It's all very cringe to look at now, but it's still very nostalgic :)
Also it is a little weird how there are so many negative comments on your video complaining about how you supposedly didn't see the deeper meaning.
@@outsideintel to be fair, it requires a high IQ to be critical of movies and how other people have fun with them 🧐
I'm glad you didn't include the 4th one ahah
Cool video
The crazy insane fights take place within a computer system … it makes perfect sense that they look a little wonky in some aspects and the cgi comes to light in some scenes . It literally makes perfect sense and looks cool givin the scenario they take place in
It was the matrix that made the bowling ball sound effect
😂@@deathfab
A scenario that attempts total realism to keep its inhabitants accepting and asleep though?
Nah, it didn't look cool.

He's informative or analogous of NOTHING else.
what
These are very good videos.
The Matrix movies were better when the Wachowski brothers did them vs the sisters.
You guys are fucking funny as hell
Honestly the 3rd part is amazing! I dont even care. sure its no MATRIX but it sure as hell isnt as fucking hellish bad as the 2nd part.
I really want a wachowski werewolf movie.
We're hoping that MCU (Matrix Cinematic Universe) starts so we can finally get Muck Men: Reloaded
Thank you.
Isn't that just Jupiter Ascending?
Reloaded wasn't great.. but pretty decent. The third one was a disaster.
I think the first half of Reloaded is far better than any movie I can remember seeing in the last five years. It had the potential to be better than the first Matrix movie in my humble opinion.
The 4th one, despite definitely lacking in action, was also pretty decent as well
Good thing they nailed it with the matrix 4
yeah, honestly Matrix 4 is overhated
I'd rank it right below Reloaded but above Revolutions in my ranking, putting it at #3
Great job guys. Perfect.
But Neo suddenly being able to use his powers in the 'real world' is an indication that it isn't real, as reality there doesn't work like that. So they all know they are in a simulation. The fact that you missed that scene out completely shows bias.
17:05 ....You're welcome
The fact it's never mentioned again despite the fact it's a world changing event shows the sequels are shit. You're welcome.
@@juicewilliss Pity that the video was so long and boring that I completely missed it.

Wow, this analysis ia very poor. The sequels are bad but this video is worse 😅
Different doesn't mean decline. Unless you have a mind of metal.

Armchair critics that can't do better.
Ouch someone feels hurt by this analysis that in the end, summarizes the movies as fun “candy”. Like most critiques or think pieces people tune out or just stop watching when something is said that is critical of something they love but they miss the full picture. 😮💨
@@Mick_Chicken Loving it by definition means you think it's great as it is. Anything and everything can be done better in hindsight.
I'm sorry you couldn't comprehend the story line and adult themes addressed in the sequels... Stick to "The Expendables" or the Fast and The Furious movies next time.
That's what I feel when I hear most people regurgitate that same old opinion, about the first one being leagues beyond the sequels.
The 1st one was absolutely far and away miles above anything that followed, trying to make yourself sound clever thinking otherwise is fruitless
The film holds up under scrutiny, it sticks to its own rules and every action has a suitable reaction based upon each characters Identity
The sequels were a disjointed mess that made you question if they knew what they was doing, now I'm older I realise they took the best ideas from other sources and made a cohesive story that was a masterpiece, but they had no real ideas of their own and hence the story kind of fell apart imo.
And people are still overhyping it's shallow philosophy to this day. Laurence Fishburne said it best: "I DON'T GET THAT AT ALL."
Not the deepest thinking in that vein, however, the original film is a very entertaining engaging romp. The sum of it's parts: acting, cinematography, sound all add up to unique; for a Hollywood blockbuster
experience.
Ooo look at mr Intellect over here
Wow, if you're not impressed with these movies, I wonder what you have to say about the absolute trash of modern Star Wars and all the other crap of the last 15 years? I'm thankful for these movies of the past and will look past small problems like the fight with 500 Smiths.
The Wachowsky BROTHERS outdid themselves in the first one. They made an absolute classic. Sequels are all trash.
They were then, are now, and will forever remain the Wachowski brothers.
The internet is waking up to the fact that Keanu is a terrible actor 😂👌
They're called Wachowski brothers, Larry and Andy.
