The Majors should get together and have their own World Golf Ranking for the LIV, PGA and Asian tours . It would be the best thing for golf .

Its the sole purpose and World Golf Ranking responsibility to remain neutral so the best players are competing in the majors. This organization is only hurting and dividing the majors product.

If the Masters creates their own ranking, the USGA and R&A will adopt it within a year, then the PGA shortly thereafter. The board at Augusta National will become the most powerful golf organization on earth if they aren't already

Just look at today's Leaderboard , Scheffler got beaten by who, then who are the others in the top ten, seriously I do not watch the Pga Tour anymore,The PGa tour boys like it that way so they have more chance of winning a major, you just have to look at the last 8 winners on the tour. Liv has a better field week in week out, 30 of the top 50 in the world playing against each other every tournament they play. OWGR is totally irrelevant now.

Talor Gooch should be there. He was screwed by the USGA last year who took away his earned exemption. Glad that the Masters invited Niemann under their "international" category, along with 2 others. But if the majors wait much longer to use a different ranking system, a World Tour will emerge and there will be discussions about where the majors fit if they don't have fields that are comparable to the World Tour. They have power now, but it will diminish if they don't pay attention. The Masters often leads the way and they have opened the door a little this year. I expect that they will throw the door open for 2025, which will force the other majors to step up.

The LIV tour is very top heavy, with maybe 10 players that could hang on the real tours. 54 holes? How does that help? And how does a golf fan trust that they’re even trying, since they get Saudi bingo money for everything they do, including that silly team aspect.

My guy, right now Scotty Scheffler is as good as Tiger ever was with his irons. Better at certain things and worse at others but overall his play is that good from 220 yards in. If he could putt like Tiger did he’d have a real shot at a consecutive grand slam rn.

The masters for the most part has everyone there but Gooch and Oostheisen and Ancer whom coming off a LIv win will also be notable missing as a guy got to number 11 in the owgr and is arguably Mexico’s best.
Oostheisen arguably still South Africa’s best I especially feel bad for him and for us. His swing and Augusta are a truly beautiful combination. That albatross he made on 2 imo is the best golf shot I’ve ever seen..and that’s saying lot.
Paul Casey also is gonna be missed. But it’s harder to make a case for him at the minute.

I said 2 years ago that the Majors could capitalise on the break up of the tours , but in saying that I don’t agree they have the best field , they need to come up with a better system than OWGR as it’s becoming irrelevant and why would any Major want to be associated with something that cheapens your product

The Masters is not beholden to any of the tours or world ranking numbers. They will invite who ever they want even if they just want to show those who are forcing their hand that they can't be controlled. If you are an elite golfer, and they believe you have what it takes to compete with the best, then no one can prevent them from inviting you. All the other reasons are politics not Golf. Even the OWGR is fast becoming irrelevant because there are players that they have ranked in the top 5, no longer being rank and is still an elite golfer. Had Rharm still been on the PGA, the ranking of everyone else below him moves down one spot and so on.

Pro golf is a spectator sport right? We watch these guys do things we are in awe of that can rarely do ourselves. I don't care how much they are paid. They should be paid well considering the juice they have. Idea.. have tour pros worldwide rank themselves weekly on a secure server with a weighted adjustment in collaboration with the heads of owgr. Have rankings transparent. To keep them from voting themselves higher.. ie Fowler should not be ranking himself higher than say Garcia. If the heads don't cede to pros ranking themselves then they can choose not to play. Naturally tiger would always rank high, but the pros would police themselves with the transparent nature. Thoughts.. just spit balling

54 holes is the future of golf and capturing golf audience young, and old. Day one is a waste. No one watches, ratings are poor. New golf fans will not indulge in 72 holes. Too many modern distractions. Again, this is not 1998, 1986. Major sponsors of the PGA know this and have fled. More to follow. Adapt or be left behind.

Anyone of a handicap relative to trying to play one of the two opens can go do it.
The LIV dudes should have had their lawyers read the OWGR guidebook for them to let them know that in fact they weren't ever going to get world ranking points because LIV was never trying to conform. It sucks, but it's a moot point. They didn't do their due diligence. It's on them that they're whining. They could keep competing for majors or take a bag of cash. They got what they wanted and what they deserved.
There's no market for team golf in the states. There never will be. Those are just facts. No one watches the Zurich.
Real low effort stuff from you two.

There's no market for singles golf in the US. It's dead. And to the point they have to kiss up to the Saudis for money. The LIV is the only entity that is going to keep it afloat in the near future. PGA keeps trying to repeat 1998 and 1968, 1998,1986. PGA just needs to get out of the way. It is what is hindering golf's progress.
