Great ideas. How do they get conveyed, for consideration, to those who would be able to implement them? Or are the concepts you discussed possibly already on the table during the actual negotiations?
Let's see what the PGAT players REALLY want. Remember they're looking over the fence at what LIV players HAVE. LIV players are getting: 5 yr contracts for substantial $$$ payments, equity shares in TEAM profits, very high purses and better payments from top to bottom, no-cut events, shotgun starts (course condition equity), and 14 events a year. Then think about the LIV caddies who have such a better life than on the PGAT. Can the PGAT offer these same things under their present makeup and number of tour members AND make a profit? Doesn't seem possible to me. The PIF can do this because they came up with a new model for their product AND an inexhaustible pot of money that gets them something OTHER than a profit.
I've always been a big fan of the idea of having a World Championship of Golf, kind of like the FIFA World Cup but with golf teams. LIV already has its teams and the PGAT and DPWT would select or hold qualifiers to create teams to enter the World Championship. It would be a totally independent series that ranks players in a similar way to the FedEx Cup, but would have more playable events throughout the year. I'd think that maybe 4 events a year would be good, 3 quarterly team events held in a different country each time and then the final event would be held in a tropical climate around the end of the year. The big twist to it though, is that the World Championship would be open for entry by any team whose players can meet some qualifying standards so any country or municipality in the world could field a team in the World Championships. Imagine how wide-reaching and popular something like that would be, it would create a lot of enthusiasm for golf in places where it's currently just seen as an odd hobby.
Thinking out loud here. How about a Crossover 5? At each LIV event 5 PGA Tour Members can compete as wild cards, using FedEx Cup Standings as guide to who gets an invite. Just go down the list til 5 say yes. At each PGA Tour Signature Event 5 LIV players get auto entry based on individual standings. Variation: 4 entries based on standings and 1 wild card. Or 3 auto and 2 wc invites (would come in handy early in season).
Love idea about 3 man teams with a forth guy sitting out. Love the idea of “mini majors”, honoring Jack and Arnie, then add a Gary Player tournament. Three “minis” in between the four majors. What to do about the OWGR, boys?
Absolute PERFECT timing for malnati to win..............my lord if u didnt think sports were rigged before........fuxk even TH-cam deleted a comment i had a few days ago asking who malnati even was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let alone my comment about the PGA losing viewers over the past couple years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes all pro sport is rigged , golf is no exception, Magnetic balls that can be be directed into the hole , hot drivers , payoffs to eliminate players making the cut etc etc , this years masters field is being deliberately weakened so Rory can finally win his grand slam , but the LIV guys will spoil his parade , this will cause more panic for those who want LIV to fail , I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds
Looking from the outside (Australia) it seems that there is now so much in common in the PGA elite and LIV other than the team component. PGA - 70 players , no cut and high prize money, invitation only. LIV - 54 player, no cut and high prize money, invitation (contracted) players. 4 rounds vs 3 rounds. Give LIV 75% of points that PGA signature events. It s not all about USA Golf - get 2 more joint events other than majors - one in States (Players) and new event that moves between countries each year - World Cup of Golf - Europe, Asia, Australia, South America and Africa.
Anytime $ are discussed to solve the LIV/PGA problem its never going to get solved. Player revenue sharing is as good as a $3 bill. Top players get paid north of $100m and Rahm got $600-800M just to join, no need to wait for revenue sharing. Top PGA players offered those numbers will just jump and forget about revenue sharing or equity sharing. Its a dead end for the PGA is PIF doesn’t fork out the $ to save their tour. As simple as that.
Im sticking with what I said from the beginning: 10-10-4-and change. There will be a lot of give and take (let’s just say Yassir will have to spend some more money to make a lot of leeches happy) but in the end there will be: 1. 10 LIv world tour events for about the top 5o …and stars like Tiger who sign contracts because it’s good for business to have them long term regardless how good they are playing. The LIv teams already have their owners for the most part but could expand teams for the likes of Tiger and Rory and spieth and Sheffler. Some teams might get bought out. But we have to remember they can’t and don’t want the LIv tour to get too big. They -guys like phil and Shark and the investors- always wanted about 5o guys for a world tour. There’s been various groups who all wanted this same thing to happen. This elite world tour concept is what the establishment has to accept: there going to be a special world tour moving forward. Annually many guys will fall out of LIv to make room for the next crop of top players who qualify. Many guys won’t own anything. They will be lucky to qualify for LIv and will gladly play all the events. Same with the pga tour. Maybe some guys like Tiger will still be incentivized to play more but for most tour pros are lucky to get into these events. 2. 1o signature pga tour events that are full field and include most of If not all of the LIv tour guys whom have status on the pga tour. The Tour finally gets real playoffs. The pga tour regular season and playoffs is where most guys qualify for LIv world league for the next season ….and where LIv guys falling off still have a chance to requalify for LIv through the pga tour and its playoffs. I will add some of the top euro tour events will be part of the pga tour signature events. (wentworth) 3. 4 majors of course. And only 4….4….e….ver! Of course all the top players are back at the majors including the unique qualifiers for each major (teaching pros for PGA, qualifiers for the Opens, special invites and amateurs for the Masters). The majors do what they do. And winning one of course gets one into LIv for a while 4. And change: This is the rest of the pga tour events (and other tours Like DP) who will be important for many reasons: mainly they act as qualifiers into the top pga tour/euro tour events (signature series). And eventually LIv. These ‘smaller’ events are also places guys can qualify for majors. These smaller tournaments on the pga tour -through now having a for profit entity - will incentivize the top players to work a little extra with money and perks to join their events. Some smaller events will merely benefit because top players want to play their hometown event or their favorite events, or simply where they can have some easy success in case they need it as a requalify tactic. That puts the top top players at about 24-30 events depending how many smaller events they play. nOTES: How each tour operates the extra stuff doesn’t really matter. Maybe the pga tour also adds teams but imo has nothing to do with LIv. Now of course if the pga tour continues competing with LIv, LIv will simply continue expanding to 100 top players. So I would not let that happen Hopefully they can all work together -thanks to Yassir spending money- to rectify the ranking situation and qualifying for majors soon because that’s the only real problem I see right now. Personally I want to see everyone work together and for LIv to become a true elite world tour-I feel it’s about half way there -with or without the establishment. But I also don’t mind the competition because as we see it’s bringing lot more money, leverage, and opportunity to the peasants/players. Because if this competition Phil will get the media rights he wanted all along; which will create more entertainment for fans outside of tournaments. The competition has led to more guaranteed money each season, chances to own stakes or teams, better treatment for everyone including caddies and fans, casual or die hard, improving television coverage, and so much more which was neglected sans competition. Theres still a lot of world to be done. The tricky part is for some things to be done they have to come together, but for others, being separated is what is still needed. All I know is it’s all good. And if the pga tour wants to remain the elite 4 round, full field tour that it is; it NEEdS practically all the LIv players to return.
Masters winner is diluted and irrelevant. I’ll watch the Masters sure but the PGA made a huge mess with the OWGR. All Majors ruling body separate from the PGA should ask PGA and LIV to send its best x# of players based on their own rankings and leave 10 wildcards.
As I said replying to a comment, PIF acquires European Tout, renames it Aramco Tour, Rory moves back there and LIV becomes a 10 times a year world team series within that. I suspect that the Fenway boys are going to start cutting the fat soon as they want profits thus I could see DP "agreement" dropped. PIF steps in, then they change Ryder Cup (which they'd own part of now) becomes LIV vs PGA.
Agree 100%....save the Euro tour and sign up Rory....Make some new big events in Europe that LIV players can play in....will need 3 LIV events in Europe...drop the President's Cup and replace it with LIV v PGAT
@@Macattack11639Tiger's not God and has been very well compensated for his success over the years. No one player is bigger than the game, including Tiger who rode on the back of the GOAT, Jack Nicklaus!
LIV wants access to the Majors, they don’t need the pga tour. PGA tour needs viewership. The PGA needs to work with the Majors, since the Majors have the highest hand.
Yes two separate tours, no merger. Liv needs to buy the DP tour and make it their World tour. Then the Euros on Liv can get back on the Ryder cup team, Liv players can accrue points but would have to tweak their format. This will give OWGR a chance to change their format to create fair rating system. They would control their own relevance or existence. This would also force PGA to follow suit and include LIV players to earn their way on or earn consideration for being on the team. And yes dump non elevated event that lose money, interest and viewers and replace with mini majors. PIF(money) not merging with PGA will force SSG to ensure ROI and dump PGA money bleeders like non elevated events and make other major changes like maybe the golf channel.
How ya fix it? Its not broken. I don't get why anyone thinks this is broken. The pga is dead and on life support. Any good players have already gotten out. Not too hard to see that.
Take your LIV Sunglasses off for a minute. Comparably, LIV has no history, legacy, revenue, overall interest, familiar courses, familiar tournaments. All they have is money. All the name greedy players have left. No one else is leaving. If Rory wins the Masters, he’ll go live on a farm in Ireland, hang out with his buddies. LIV is DOA. In order to have a successful product, you have to have interest. Nobody cares. Golf is about legacy not money. For LIV to think money can erase 100 years of history is arrogant and stupid. Rahm already having FOMO. It’s March.
I think you are very mistaken if you think that the PGA Tour is going to give up11 weeks of their schedule to make this work ( 4 Majors + 6 mini- majors and a ' professional.") Every stop on the " Tour " means mega-bucks for that community.
Could certainly have the individual Professional Champ tournament first and then a separate Professional Champ team with a Ryder format but more teams - not just two. A LIV v PGAT team grudge match could be yet another event that revenue shares. Every 2 years? What do you think RH?
Eventually merger will occur. Think NL-AL (baseball), NFL-AFL (football), NBA-ABA (basketball), NHL-WHA (hockey). If those sports couldn't handle the separation, there's no way golf can.
I'm thinking 10 events where both tours come together along with majors. Then the PGA needs to franchise out their events. Let the host sponsor buy that franchise and PGA will have to have contracts with top 30 to make sure they show up for the franchise sponsor.
Yall have the money fixed but hear me out. The goal is to get the best to play together more often. LIV has the team format, the PGAT already has some tentative teams for the TGL and they have enough stars of their own to have their own team league which would also bring some more notoriety to their lesser known players. So Pgat team league, LIV team league each with their own champion and MVP (instead of individual winner). Then the top 6 teams from each league compete in the team worlds for the title of team world champs. heres is the catch: no owgr for any team events. you want owgr, major qualification, and team qualification you play individual events hosted by the pgat, dp tour, int series. with the new pgat team schedule they should pick their top 12 performing events. Then the less prestigious events will be those traditional 72 hole events but with robust fields vying for precious owgr. i mean right now you have Liv players playing wherever they can to try to qualify for majors
So many delusional people. No one gives a shit about the OWGR anymore, it's irrelevant. The only thing anyone cares about now is making sure there is a way for the world's best players to get included in the four majors on an annual basis, and for the world's best players to compete against one another on a more regular basis. No one cares about the PGA Tour anymore. It's already in steep decline, as they have already lost most of the key players to LIV Golf who seriously help put eyeballs on the sport. Tiger's done, and can only play golf a couple of times per year now, he's mostly a brand name now rather than a golfer. LIV Golf is the new major league of professional golf, and the top 54 players in the world should be playing LIV Golf, while the PGA, DP World Euro, Asian Tour, Korn Ferry, and everything else should just become regional feeder and qualification tours for entry into LIV Golf. The fans want to see the world's very best, and they also want to see golf played more quickly, so shotgun starts and team scores are concepts that are here to stay.
Consult with the LPGA, they've managed to work with the PIF just fine in the Aramco Team Series!! They get Solheim Cup points and world ranking points plus they don't make their players choose which league to play!! Get it together boys, end the pissing contest!!
You guys have good suggestions; however the PGA Tour and the establishment want nothing less than the elimination of LIV and punishment for LIV Players. LIV needs to snag 5 more top 10 players to force the PGA Tour to even negotiate. LIV should also fund PGA of America, DP World Tour and R&A European golf - $100 million each. The top 20 players should get together and hammer out a coexistence agreement. They are the only players that matter.
If theybsnag even 3 or 4 top.10 players and its over for the Tour. It's clear LIV doesn't want to go that way. Can't figure out why, but there no more deals coming, except one. That deal happens after the Masters.
Get rid of the PGAT players board and offer a fantastic package to Jay including making him an executive joint Deputy Chairman to make this JV happen. Then sit back and watch. #imho
It is very sad that many of what is left of the top PGA golfers on the tour have to go. So sad. But there are plenty of young up and coming players to take their place. In fairness, there were no pro golf tours forever and the amateur game was the only game. That didn’t change until the 1920s. Even then, only a handful of players made a living as a touring pro. Is (professional) golf for the fans, the players, the organizations or the owners? (Or some combination...) Generally, pro sports are owner "toys" that they love and that provide substantial profits. The fans generate the profits because the players perform and the organizations present a palatable product. Fan interest comes from loyalty to "their" team (player(s)), self-identification with the product and interest in the performance. Kids wanting to be in the final and score the winner for the accolades, benefits and adulation. Golf, as an elitist activity, has difficulty with this relationship (the rich kid syndrome) so it is the performance aspect through high quality and tough competition that appeals to the audience. Everyone knows and remembers Hogan, Palmer, Nicklaus, Trevino, Watson but only the afficianados remember Gay Brewer, Miller Barber etc.

12 events, at least this year. And 54 hole events over 3 days, so comp per day is way higher. Point taken though, much better model for the talent.
I’ve been waiting for your take 👍
Love idea about 3 man teams with a forth guy sitting out.
The only thing I would add is a DP Tour team & Asian Tour team so you truly bring in the world.
A top level Premier Tour is the only way to fix this. The idea of mix play one like PGA and the next like LIV. I would pay per view for that.
As simple as that.
good point- it’s about the fans hello. merge the two and give us an awesome field 🎉
Thx Mrd. Mini-majors and revenue sharing!
When you say Zip, do you mean shares of Zippo Lighter?
Im sticking with what I said from the beginning: 10-10-4-and change.
There will be a lot of give and take (let’s just say Yassir will have to spend some more money to make a lot of leeches happy) but in the end there will be:
1. 10 LIv world tour events for about the top 5o …and stars like Tiger who sign contracts because it’s good for business to have them long term regardless how good they are playing.
(wentworth)
3. 4 majors of course.
And only 4….4….e….ver!
Of course all the top players are back at the majors including the unique qualifiers for each major (teaching pros for PGA, qualifiers for the Opens, special invites and amateurs for the Masters).
The majors do what they do. And winning one of course gets one into LIv for a while
4. And change:
This is the rest of the pga tour events (and other tours
Like DP) who will be important for many reasons: mainly they act as qualifiers into the top pga tour/euro tour events (signature series).
That puts the top top players at about 24-30 events depending how many smaller events they play.
nOTES:
How each tour operates the extra stuff doesn’t really matter. Maybe the pga tour also adds teams but imo has nothing to do with LIv.
Now of course if the pga tour continues competing with LIv, LIv will simply continue expanding to 100 top players. So I would not let that happen
Hopefully they can all work together -thanks to Yassir spending money- to rectify the ranking situation and qualifying for majors soon because that’s the only real problem I see right now.
It's not a mess liv is winning it's all about the money.
Masters winner is diluted and irrelevant. I’ll watch the Masters sure but the PGA made a huge mess with the OWGR. All Majors ruling body separate from the PGA should ask PGA and LIV to send its best x# of players based on their own rankings and leave 10 wildcards.
Can you guys list 25 of the top PGA players left?
Tiger is the mess
Tiger's ego is the problem..he clearly wants to take over the PGAT
@@1362pcwell since he built the current game from 1996-2008 to its current purses state I’d say he deserves it.
Then nick off and start your own tour Tiger. Nah, just inherit what you think is rightfully yours. P'off narcissist.@@Macattack11639
@@Macattack11639Tiger's not God and has been very well compensated for his success over the years. No one player is bigger than the game, including Tiger who rode on the back of the GOAT, Jack Nicklaus!
With Tiger and Rory involved. They will destroy the tour before they give into Norman.
If there are 2 leagues does this mean LIV will still be able to poach players? How is this win/win?
It's not poaching. The PGA does not and cannot offer contracts. They won't give up their charity "scam" status.
You guys have some great ideas. I vote you to replace Jay and get this done.
And the DP World Tour just disappears??? Don’t think so
Jay Monahan bought the DP World Tour when they agreed to send the top 10 to the PGA Tour every year.
Love to see a Ryder Cup style format
Could certainly have the individual Professional Champ tournament first and then a separate Professional Champ team with a Ryder format but more teams - not just two.
A LIV v PGAT team grudge match could be yet another event that revenue shares. Every 2 years? What do you think RH?
I like the Galaxy Quest Super Championship, like the Super Bowl, kind of.
How many companies are waving their hands saying “I want to sportswash”. What a great business model to lose your customers.
Mini Majors is a great idea..basically the world tour
Eventually merger will occur. Think NL-AL (baseball), NFL-AFL (football), NBA-ABA (basketball), NHL-WHA (hockey). If those sports couldn't handle the separation, there's no way golf can.
sounds like a plan
Well said Tony.
Got this sad feeling pgate won't give revenue to their members..
Consult with the LPGA, they've managed to work with the PIF just fine in the Aramco Team Series!! They get Solheim Cup points and world ranking points plus they don't make their players choose which league to play!! Get it together boys, end the pissing contest!!
Nobody watched lpga thats why noone cares
SSG will make sure they get paid before the players
Pimp money! Love it!
Stop following Tiger - he's done as far as playing golf is done. Think of the future of golf and where you fit in you remaining top players and stop stabbing yourselves in the back. The hand writing has been on the wall for some time. If you want to fall on your sword, or your one iron after you cut the club face off of it, we applaud you and will build a memorial for you. Good luck with that!
Do you think the people at the very top of professional golf give two cents about you people? Huh.....
Anyone notice the number of empty seats on the 18 yesterday when Malnati was playing the hole? I think the PGA dies on the vine and without a major TV deal, so does LIV. Golf is dead.
Golf is only dead if the common man stops playing......if pga tour or liv or dp or any tour doesnt exist DOES NOT MEAN THE GAME IS DEAD
@@thisizcle140 Lets say the NBA or the NFL go away. No more TV. No more Superbowls. No more game 7s. Do kids still play? What do they dream about? You clearly have not thought this through.
In fairness, there were no pro golf tours forever and the amateur game was the only game. That didn’t change until the 1920s. Even then, only a handful of players made a living as a touring pro. And even then, it wasn’t until after Palmer and into the late 1970s that the top 50 made good money.
Roger Maltbie won 5 times on the PGAT and would tell you he made far more money in his prime (1975-1985) doing corporate outings.
For the men’s game, dads and granddads are the most important group if the sport of golf is to continue as top tier. Young boys need to start playing in elementary school.
TMS ur also welcome for the idea that alllllll golf before pro is TEAM GOLF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said that on ur last video
The split isn't doing anyone any good.
rubbish, the rest of the world loves it, now we get to see the best players again
Monahan is the get nothing done guy....or is Tiger the boss now?
The PGA trophy is the Wanamaker.
Yes true.
PGATE makes profit but PGAT owns it . PGAT is a not for profit so PGATE shares out the profit so mothership PGAT doesn't make profit . All seems a bit dodgy but they not addressing elephant in room PGAT is going to loose its not for profit status potential/probably. This model isn't the plan so what is ? It ain't what they saying it is .
combining the LIV and PGA on certain events and doing some of those events in LIV format? No interest in that. If I want to watch LIV format, I'll watch LIV. If I want PGA format I'll watch PGA. Just combining the two does not make it ok.
Rivals Spindles. Bragging rights for your tour. Grudge match. Home field advantage, controversy, turn up the heat. Golf needs more something if it is to win over people under 50.
Talking out of your arses as usual.
Funny Vegas.
But you’re right, all good ideas come from a forest gnome or London based marketing consultancy.
How do you fix it? Meet global competitive golf regulations and go 72 holes. That way the stats can line up and the OWGR can see a path forward. 72 is the pro golf gold standard. Anything less is exhibition, vacation golf.
Need to expand the market Jimmer. Like 5x.
The old way ain’t working with people under 50. No more Tiger effect. Natural decline of baby boom generation numbers.
PIF is gonna buy the European Tour when the PGA drops it. Then we'll see things get interesting
Lol. Please stop
@macheesmo3 that's what I hope happens. I want the PGA Tour basically on an island. PIF has LIV, Europe, Asia etc
Golf is what it always has been. Today's Valspar gave the viewer what LIV will never offer. LOVE❤. Malnati & family, on the green, tears & emotion. That doesn't exist on the LIV tour. There is no love in LIV. If it's too slow for Gamers, gamers can change the channel. Goodbye. @@ThinkingManShow
You have not addressed the elephant in the room. OWGR. Liv players still want to compete in the record books so no matter how you set up these super events, they must inc points. Right now they are the only thing that liv wants.
They'll get them via the new European Tour
@@macheesmo3 thats the optimistic theory, nothing said yet however.
