Family Mart Egg Sandwich is by far the best one
Konbini egg sandwiches are my go to breakfast when I am in Japan. I usually pair it with a tuna mayo onigiri.
Would love to see a comparison now between The Family Mart winner and the egg salad sandwiches offered at Tokyo Station that compete with the Eki Bentos. We usually get the triple pack that includes an egg salad sandwich, a cucumber sandwich and a thinly sliced ham sandwich. Those are delicious. By the way seeing Skytree so clear was a treat and reminded that friends just sent us photos taken yesterday of Mount Fuji surrounded by a blue sky that showed Fuji just as clear as it can be seen in the winter. You must be enjoying a nice stretch of perfect weather despite it being mid May.
Definitely family mart. We left tokyo 2 weeks ago and I literally ate egg sandwiches ever night as a late night snack when we stayed in tokyo from family mart they were so good😂😂 getting a little jealous watching you eat that sandwich 😂
Hi John. Still can't believe Family Mart over 7-11 on tamago sando. I wonder if buying it at a different 7-11 & Family Mart would make a difference? That would be the ultimate test to see if it's consistent across the chain. Nonetheless this was super fun! Mahalo for always entertaining us with great livestream content!

Yup, I definitely went for these egg sandwiches during my trip this March.
They really are good! I even tried some sandwiches that had whipped cream in them too.
They were also really good.

I prefer the Family Mart Egg Sandwich, also the Tuna Mayonnaise Onigiri 😊

I liked the ones I got on the bullet trains. One was an egg, the other was pork, and one was like fruit.

Hmmm I never liked the 7-11 one. Felt more dense. I always found the Lawson one to be fluffier/better egg even tho it brought less. Family mart I was rarely ever to buy so I don’t remember how that one tasted but maybe there was never any because everyone would buy them 😂
Right before I fly home to the US I always eat the family mart egg sandwich before I board the plane. I love it sooo much!

Aside from Family Mart being the surprise winner in this contest I was actually more surprised (and impressed) that all the sandwiches were nearly filled to the edge! I recall past sandwiches skimping on the filling. I guess the conbini chains are learning!

Man, I'm really sorry I missed the stream, but really enjoying the replay. I used to also think 7-Eleven had the best tamago sando, but during our Japan trip in March, I also ended up thinking Family Mart was better. In fact, we stayed at a condo by Nippori station a few blocks from a Family Mart and we ended really enjoying a bunch of the food from there, not just the sandwiches but the onigiri and bentos too. They've really got their kitchen sourcing down pat. Fun episode, John!

We did this comparison when we were there and my wife and I were spilt. She liked 7/11 and I liked Family Mart. We both ranked Lawsons third.
Packaged foods in the US always have the weight printed on the package. Japan doesn't do that?

My tip: Buy extra egg salad bags and make SUPER egg sandwiches (or just skip the sandwich and eat the egg straight from the bag like an animal! 😂)

During the livestream I commented that it was curious to see the color of the egg in the egg salad sandwiches was yellow and not orange since the yolk of eggs in Japan are orange, not yellow. Then later you showed that partially boiled egg and just like I remembered the yolk was in fact orange. It must be that when fully boiled the yolk yellows?
The orange yolks are due to what the. Chickens are fed with.

Only at the booze store. Everywhere else you have to add on the tax because it is not included in the price.
