Regarding when in production Brandon Lee was killed... It was pretty late into production. John was completely right about the body doubles for a few shots, and a handful of hard cuts. There's one scene where they took unused footage from another portion of the movie, rotoscoped Lee out of it, and put him into another scene entirely. There's also the shot where you see him through a window looking out over the city, and in that case it's actually his stunt double and they added Lee's face during post. His stunt double was Chad Stahelski, who later went on to direct the John Wick movies.
to add onto the last line there, that's also why the John Wick sets are so meticulous about gun safety. none of the gun props in the John Wick movies fire at all, not blanks, nothing. every single gunshot is added in post, and it's really incredible from an acting and directing standpoint how natural they make it all seem.

My personal top 10 new experiences of 2024: 10: Being summoned for jury duty, but not serving 9: Hitting my first hiking trail 8: Learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (thanks John and Woolie) 7: Dracula Flow 5 6: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree 5: X-Men '97 4: The island of Puerto Rico 3: Board Game Paradise (local board game store) 2: Combat Archery 1: Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania
I unfortunately started my year on an all-time high, and am ending it worse than I've been in a long fucking time, so looking at how far I've come is a bit of an unpleasant thing. But, I'm somehow still here, and *that* is very much worth appreciating.
Maybe only just a slight return to normalcy, though every setback still feels very disheartening and like I'm not going anywhere. I developed severe anxiety, social anxiety, chronic pain, and my depression and negative mental health symptoms worsened over the course of the last 6-7 years, and I'm mostly just getting a little wiser about my body and what it needs to alleviate those issues. It's demotivating to say the least not only to watch all your friends get to where they want in life while you're stuck dealing with health problems because they just take up that much of your time, but then to also lose contact with them because you're not interesting to be around when nothing in your life is interesting, and your energy is too low to fight for those connections with your own power. I'm slowly trying to reconnect to making music in a healthier way than as the placeholder for my identity it used to be, and I've got a new apartment I'm moving into soon which I think will be good for my mental health. I'm also learning blender animation and sculpting which is something I've always wanted to learn and it's as fun as I was expecting. The loneliness still sucks but that can't be helped, but at least I have an idea of everyday living I want to fight to get to and 1 year ago I didn't have that so at least that's something.
10. Gospel Music and Kanyes choir from TH-cam. 9. Jacob Collier Live for the 2nd time 8. Loopers 7. Synthesizers 6. Started rowing Kayak. 5. Joining a yoga club 4. The Power of Now by Eckart Tolle 3. Started singing education 2. Linkin Park reunion 1. My new roommate that i randomly moved in with becoming my best friend, having the same interesest and just making my year goated.
The end of the ad read when Woolie is being serious, and Jon is breathing real hard because he ran to get the cat apron is absolutely the "there are two wolves inside you" vibe i need going into 2025
I am beyond delighted to see Buc-ee's here. In my tabletop involving a hyper reinterpreted version of 2012, I was looking for a location that's both common enough to secretly serve as a hub of teleporters so the party could get around America, and wacky enough to fit the more comedic setting. As I was explaining the concept of buc-ee's, everyone else did not know what I was talking about and I got to inform everyone while emphasizing this ISN'T A JOKE, just what Buc-ee's offers. I work hard so one day, we can play a session within Buc-ee's itself.
Woolie threatening to inflict reccomendation-based pain on his own wife, ans then blaming it on John is the most "Versus Wolves" coded thing in this episode
I am enjoying Daima way more because i actually have no idea what will happen next, while Dandadan, as awesome as it is, i already read the manga, so it is just a second serving to me
Something I've noticed about Dandadan's fights that I didn't notice in the manga is how they function sorta like JoJo Stand battles where they're more puzzle boxes than contests of strength. For example, the Nessie fight in the most recent episode is wrapped up by Momo, Aira, and Okarun synergizing their abilities in unique ways that allow them to overcome the disadvantages of fighting underwater, sorta like Dark Blue Moon in Part 3 (sans Star Finger).

I love Not Like Us but The Beef as a whole is my top experience of this year. I happened to be online right as Meet the Grahams dropped and saw the internet melt down over that. It took me down the rabbit hole of Kendrick's catalogue, the history behind the beef, and introduced me to several content creators and media that I otherwise might've overlooked. There's a level of cinema to the emotional arc all of Kendrick's responses took the audience through and I'm glad I was around to experience that in real time. Super excited for the next episode!
Ward is awesome! I think the "From Within" arc is my personal favorite. Spoilers below: The way that arc communicates the idea of literally hacking into the "Software" behind how everyone's superpowers work and how it escalates into Victoria and the Fragile One working together is so fucking good. Breakthrough as a team is one of my favorite superhero teams ever. That conversation Vicky has with Ashley early on where she's like "You think I'm fucked up because i'm an ex-supervillain? I'm not even in the top 3 of individuals here you should be worried about" and you don't know it at the time but she was fucking RIGHT.

It's official, this podcast has got me into martial arts! Been mildly interested for awhile, and there's a local gym not too far from my house. Hearing John and Woolie talk about their experiences- just they way they described the feelings it brings- pushed me over the edge to go and try it (the first class was free)! And man... I'm hooked, I'm doing MMA which includes some of the grappling and boxing that John and Woolie talked about. 3 classes in and after each one I'm left completely exhausted and sore for days (if I were doing a cough to 5k, I'd be at the couch level lol), but it feels really good. Very exciting! Sometimes have to stop myself from smiling during sparring (they send you right into the deep end at this place and I did sparring on day one - although my opponents are also the lest experienced ones other than me). And everyone's super nice and encouraging! Would recommend to others.

3:55:35 I'm assuming they recorded this a while ago but Woolie perfectly predicting Kendrick reclaiming heart pt. 6 on his next album is top notch
Okay so can we talk about how Woolie has an in with Kendrick and knew he was going to drop a new record?
The Absurdity of Kendrick dropping an album before this even came out is insane tho

Sadly John is underselling how good the Crow is. I hope he goes into the backstory of how the comic was made, it's genuinely beyond heartbreaking
The channel “Matttt comic and manga history” made a great video covering the author and how the crow was created.
m.th-cam.com/video/x0P08GVreIc/w-d-xo.html&pp=2AEGkAIBygUGbWF0dHR0
To give him credit he JUST saw it and he said it’s his FAVORITE movie of all time

I have a feeling he will go on a full rant when he sees the 'remake' (demake) and understands just how wrong a story it could have been if the OG's creators did not believe in the material.
As dope as that is, it may be an example of why John said he's glad he wasnt 14 when he saw it.
The Crow is one of those stories like Gantz where it was clearly the author way of coping with real life tragedy, and I can't in good faith criticize it
I think a pain scale I saw online is the most useful one, that being "How much does it take up your mind/attention?"
Can you elaborate a bit more?
@PainCausingSamurai 10/10 "I literally cannot think of anything else but the pain. I am blacking out from it."
1/10 "I can ignore it easily for a whole day." Something like a splinter.
3/10 is a papercut in a really bad place on the hand.
That's a pretty good way of going about it. When I was getting first responder certified, I was taught to ask patients "What's the worst pain you've ever felt?" And then have them compare it to that, so whatever was the worst pain is their 10/10. But we then use that metric for how distracting the pain is, so for instance- to do a focused spine assessment, we need the patient to be able to communicate clearly and properly, and if they're experiencing a 7/10 pain rating on THEIR scale, we deem the injury too distracting to be able to do the FSA.

redlands, california?
What a year. Try and take a moment to appreciate yourself everyone. Look at how far you have come!
At the start of the year I was a lowly silver modern Cammy player. Now I'm a noble gold classic Akuma.
I unfortunately started my year on an all-time high, and am ending it worse than I've been in a long fucking time, so looking at how far I've come is a bit of an unpleasant thing. But, I'm somehow still here, and *that* is very much worth appreciating.
@@johnthomason9980 I'm praying for you brother
Thanks M Bison
Hey I work at Amazon and it's Black Friday so just know y'all made the second half of my shift a lot easier to deal with
I served thanksgiving, we did 700 covers. 13.5 hour shift. Stay strong brother💜
I wish they treated yall better. 😮💨
So nice of John to give smaller creators like Woolie a chance to shine.
Kendrick has made One Piece edits absolutely pop off this year and it's been probably my favorite thing xD
Shockingly I haven't seen any edits of the "Chopper doing circles, it's a bird" line from Family Ties
As a Texas native seeing bucces on this made me feel good. That place is home.

@@line4169 It is such a fortune. I love this comment section, its so wholesome. :)
20:22 oh Snake-kun, you always say the silliest things!
Now John needs to watch Dark City. Different kind of movie, but it looks cool as hell. Oh, and same director.
OP aside, DanDaDan is a must-watch of the season, it should rank up there in top 5 anime released this year
I am enjoying Daima way more because i actually have no idea what will happen next, while Dandadan, as awesome as it is, i already read the manga, so it is just a second serving to me
@@Doomroar There are some anime I feel elevate the source material, but I do gotta give Daima a real shot, only watched the first ep so far.

I hope John reads the Crow comic. It's so heartbreaking and good
Finally I can have an opinion
1. Ward by Wildbow
2. Scavenger's Reign
3. The Menu (2022)
4. Dead Dead Demon's DeDeDeDe Destruction
5. Arcane S2
Ward holds an incredibly special place in my heart.
Ward is awesome! I think the "From Within" arc is my personal favorite. Spoilers below:
The way that arc communicates the idea of literally hacking into the "Software" behind how everyone's superpowers work and how it escalates into Victoria and the Fragile One working together is so fucking good.
Ward legitimately made me a better person. I think the culmination was the Apple interlude.
Easy 10/10, one of my favorite things ever
John “kaiji vs Kendrick Lamar feels like the most absurd thing we’ve done”
This is such a funny sentence when literally last week being twin peaks vs. The shibuya incident vs. Caribbean food

1.MUSTARRRRRDDD!!!!
Me playing Balatro while Woolie picks Balatro as #1.
Balatro is amazing, I still gotta catch back UFO 50 games, Animal Well is amazing.
And I am saying this while I usually loathe indie games.

Joker Sting was awesome! It started out as a kind of lame Heath Ledger impersonation, but then he got way wackier and it became a blend between that Joker and Cesar Romero's Joker from the 60s Batman show. I just embraced how silly he got and went along for the ride. Like he seemed to have a ball with it.
