Steve fights admirably, but he fights hardest for the lost causes. Tekken 5 over Tekken 3? In what world does that fly? The same world where pigs also fly.
Soul calibur 1 isn’t even the best game in the franchise and probably not even the second best (most people will argue 6 is better and some will say 3) so how in the world is it the best fighting game of all time?
Yeah uhhh...this drama was forseeable to say the least... Just a hindsight thing, but surprised Steeb didn't mention the large roster for Strive if he loves it. It's a big thumbs up.
It's like trying to defend the first Street Fighter. It set the series in motion, but the refined sequel cemented it in the pantheon of greats! (But VF1 is infinitely better than SF1 😅)
Never heard of Kai, but seeing the reaction live and these three basically flipping out over him, made me check out his stream at the time. "He's a chill cool guy," I thought.
@@bulb9970 Newsflash: That's 90% of fighting game glaze discourse. "fr bro, the old game was way better than today's entry". I like Xrd a lot, it might be my favorite Guilty Gear, but that game has PROBLEMS. I'm talking poorly executed mechanics and wacky balance. But people seem to forget them when they talk about how perfect that game was when they try to dismiss Strive. I can make this argument for MK fandom discourse or Tekken discourse. It's everywhere. Sure, you can try to make a genuine argument in good faith, but try not to act like you've played the game you're talking about. I see people honeymoon titles they've never touched all the time.
@ That’s not what I mean at all. Maybe you just wanted an opportunity to vent about a moot point from FGC twitter, but this has absolutely nothing to do with what I’m trying to say here. To be more clear, I mean that even though Steve is kind of the meme guy in this circle, he does have a real point when saying that “SF3 is fun to watch but not to play”. Every time that SF3 is brought up in this conversation, they have to point out the competitive scene, EVO moment 37 and whatever. It even happened in this exact situation. But people don’t talk as much about how fun it actually is or how memorable the characters are. A lot of people, not saying all or even most of them, but a lot of them only say that SF3 is the greatest fighting game ever because of status. Because that makes you look like you’re in the know. And then turns out these same people can’t even pull off a parry. SF3 is the game of moments, but a lot of the “fans” don’t actually play it.
@@bulb9970 I disagree its pretty active on fightcade and has a lot of tournaments still going on to this day. 3s is just more niche than modern fighting games because the genre has blown up a lot of the past few years.
@@leithaziz2716 Xrd is for the people who played XXAC+R and wanted the evolution of it. Strive is for the people who played Xrd and wanted the evolution of that. Both are phenomenal games.
I would really love to see a "Top 10 Fighting Games based on Impact" and a "Top 10 Fighting Games based on Gameplay and Mechanics" there was too much discussion of the Impact VS. Gameplay and Mechanics, Also maybe a "Top 10 Fighting Games that are not Capcom's"
100% agree same with the other lists they need to pick a lane and stay with it. Also be cool for each of them to talk about (not a contest) of their favorite art style in video games.
@@Jose-se9puhow? It’s the second worst selling game in the franchise, and is stuck on a console that failed less than 2 years on the market? It’s influential because it was popular for like a month, got high scores from like the 6 people who actually reviewed it and then the game was all but forgotten until the second game came out and blew it out the water
That's why he's right about some of his opinions that seem crazy at first. Like MvCi over DBFZ and Tekken 5 over Tekken 3. He's just not good at picking his battles. lol
i would've *NEVER* let SF2 anywhere near this list in that vain (I grew up with SF2 so don't come at me with hate) but goddam it's ass in every way esp nowadays
So many of the shots of the dudes arguing had the same framing as renaissance paintings, it was such an experience watching them narrow down the list game by game
Look, no matter who the winner was gonna be at the end, there's one thing we all can agree on. Two Strawberries?!? That pack of Starburst was goated!!!
I hate the argument of Impact being used. With that argument, nothing new can ever be considered great. No matter how good a game is or how hard it was worked on, it cant be considered one of the greatest of all time because it was influenced by something before it.
It's a tricky one to navigate. Impact isn't the best word. There's credit in revolutionizing and thinking outside the box relative to the times they were made. There's also credit in refining and polishing what's good. There's merit to both
I think that's fair that nothing new could ever be considered the greatest of all time. so many games have shot themselves in the foot gameplay wise over the years through various updates and patches and the potential for that to happen always exists with new games. A truly greatest game of all time should be able to stand the test of time so the new games will have to wait
I think many people here need to realize that this list shouldn't be taken as the end all be all, these are three friends with completely separate biases and preference arguing to a standstill. My top ten would look completely different to this
There's a good argument here on how much you want to give to the influence and impact of a game as opposed to whether or not the overall quality is still great to this day. Depending on where you lean on either side would heavily affect your list.
i think I'm with Steve, get them old ahh games outa there, the were improved upon later. just because something started somethin doesn't mean it's better lol
@@wynnjones2435 I agree to some extent, but there are franchises, genres, and technologies that wouldn't exist without some of the oldies! You have to give them their flowers, even if games from 20 years later improved on the formula. We have to look at overall impact and foundation for the time they released - otherwise every best game would just be what's most recent. Games we would call GOATs now we would throw away in a couple years by that logic. I think the best middle ground are classics that have still held up well. If you can fire it up today and enjoy yourself with no nostalgia attached, then you know it's Goated
I would agree if the modern games actually were better. Street Fighter 6 for instance? Worse than Third Strike for sure. Marvel 2 and 3 are both better than Infinite. The big one for me personally is Xrd Rev2 vs Strive, and Xrd Rev2 is my number 1 of all time while Strive is one of my least favorites. I would agree with Steve on Tekken 5 over 3 though because Tekken 5 is potentially the best Tekken game, full stop. For me it feels like a lot of these series peaked somewhere in the middle, not the beginning or end.
@@mallow2902 i feel you but I like sf6 more than 3S, strive is by far my favorite GG (still waitin on Jam tho) infinite... well i just really like Gamora so fair. tho i do enjoy smash4 more than ult
One game sold 10 million copies, as one of the most sold games of all time. One game had the most EVO entries, and peaked at 40k players and was the biggest comp fighting game on Earth before strive. MvCi is a dog water roster, music, levels, and even the gameplay right now is not as good as DBFZ. One game is IGN's top 5 fighting games of all time, on multiple lists of top 10. DBFZ is stunning. Arguably the best graphics of all time, and arguably the best competitive scene of all time. And its still kicking at EVO even as a 7 year old game.
I think this is one of the scenarios where I can't let "it plays better" justify all the issues MVCI has over DBFZ. And to be fair, Max brought it up, cause it's hard to ignore them. The botched music, low-budget presentation, lacking roster and the story mode really begs the question of "is gameplay all that matters to like a game and play it?". The inner art-appreciator in me says no, especially when everyone likes to talk about "Soul".
yea see that's the problem is Steve is the *MOST BIASED* out of all of them and just says it plays better so it beats it when dbz plays more like MvC3 but also had what MvCi is lacking but Steeb just hard focuses on what he likes cuz he's gonna ignore everything else as shown here
I cannot express enough how much I fucking love these videos. Just pure creative, thoughtful, and hilarious editing combined with the doods' knack for humour + their vast experience, love and memories for these games. Holy shit more of these please I beg lmao
KOF 13 is there, tho. Hurts my soul not seeing any other SNK games there. No love for Real Bout? No love for Samurai Shodown? No Love for World Heroes Perfect?

Watching these top 10 lists is like playing all of Yakuza. It has over the top fights, it has immeasurable drama, it has twists but in the end it was a journey full of heart and honor. IT brings me life.
Extremely biased observation, but I personally love the fact that, unless I missed it, Killer Instinct was barely even mentioned from the gang unless to say "No KI is staying in top 10, period." Love to see it
To be fair, Max brought it up when KoF13 was being shot down. He said 98 and 2002 were both better games. I'm disappointed they didn't show up on the list at all as well though. Also no Last Blade hurt.
Yeah, you can see that they're not KOF enjoyers, putting KOF13 above 98 and not making it into the top10 is like... WTF?! SNK was demolishing Capcom before SF3S came out! Like even stuff like KOF94~95 was waaaaay ahead of its time and i'm saying this as a SFa2 enjoyer!
Tbh, the omission of Simmons for this particular list is apparent simply because he is, technically speaking, the quality control of the group. He’s abrasive, which doesn’t always translate, but I think he is needed here. A real pro move would’ve been to bring in Wazzler or Matty in his place. Less argument and more technicality.
Simmon's also isn't really a fighting game person aswell so it makes sense they do this one without him also, but guests would make these so much better in every way *XD*
@@Jose-se9pu You’re describing Steve. Simmons is easily the best debater out of the four there. He knows when to compromise and only stands by something when it truly deserves it.
I Justin was here you'd see Marvel 3 get bumped up a bit because it's his personal favorite MvC game, and Third Strike probably would have taken number 1.
Without commenting on the list itself, I'm just gonna mention that Ultra Street Fighter 4 is about $4 on Steam right now (Autumn Sale). You'll definitely be getting your money's worth playing that game.
It's crazy to me how they easily delete SF4 and i am not a SF guy, but this game literally return fighting game genre comeback on modern generation (and they talk about impact all of time), what people choose now - play sf2 or sf4 ? It's more than important because it was so hard to comeback like this, just saying.
@@ron8162 I mean, when I say “anime” I’m specifically referring to “anime fighters” as like a fighting game genre. That being said, it is what it is. It’s a shame this group doesn’t seem to value anime fighters as much as other fighters, but it’s honestly fine. You can only play so many games, and people are bound to have varying tastes.
It was quickly eclipsed since Sega was first to leave the gate, but the leap from PS1/Saturn/64 to the Dreamcast was HUGE! Arcade hardware was still more powerful, but it was definitely an eye-opening experience since it'd never come so close for the price. Soul Calibur was a next generation remake without saying so, and that really caught us off guard in the best way possible.
The cool thing about Dreamcast is that it didn't feel like it was competing with the other consoles, like it was sort of its own thing. It came out at a weird time between the N64 gen and the PS2 gen so it got ports from both eras and had it's own unique arcade style stuff.
Nah MK2 really deserves way more praise, the characters, the stages, the influence, the gameplay IMO is fun especially when you’re playing against someone, the secrets, the boss battles, the little bios and endings, the music etc. Man it felt like you jumped into a whole universe of awesomeness
It's crazy to me that Soul Calibur (as excellent as it was) beat it's sequel to the top spot. I feel like SC2 was one of the highest points 3D fighting has ever been at. It was on three consoles, it had exceptional graphics and some of the smoothest gameplay in a fighter you could find at the time.
@Jose-se9pu 1 was only in arcades and a dead home console no one owned. 2 was on every console at the time with different guest characters depending on the system. It was winning best game of the year/decade as a Fighting game in many magazines and was getting 9-10 scores back when being a game journalist was respectful. Soul Calibur 2 clears number 1 by a mile.
your whole modern ecosystem exists in its current form because of Street Fighter 4. Without that, tournaments would still be played in shady auditoriums and only a few 3rd strike clips here and there getting onto youtube
Yyeah this whole list is Max bias. Third strike along with smash and killer instinct should not be top 10. But then Again this is their list so it's nothing official. I was acting like Steve the whole time while watching this. I was mad that SF4 was the last game to be put on the list when it should be in top 10 easy
If these 3 can barely agree on the fighting game of all time, there should be no more wars in the world for the rest of humanity’s history. Politicians take clues from this.
@@idiom2805 internal split between the team and MikeZ. They took advantage of his autism and blew out of proportion drama to force him into giving them the IP and they just moved to another company with the rights of the game.
53:30 I remember that day so well! It was a dark day that pushed Max to Frieza levels of angry at that Namekian and Saiyan back there. It was also nice because Max doesn't generally get explosive when he's really choked, he just gets zapped of his positive energy; but Steve and Kenny just had this moment of "That was a little too much" and just brought the room energy down to calm(without getting counter-grumpy or something like that), to let Max cool off and recover. Pretty much how guys say "Hey, we're sorry man, but we can't bring ourselves to actually say sorry right now.". It really was a beautiful friendship moment.
that is a weird note from the editor cuz we knew right, none were even mentioned... not that they would cuz they don't play 3d arena fighting games or even like them for that matter
Coincidence: Soul Calibur on Dreamcast is 25 years old this year We hosted a small tourney for it last week and next weekend wea re going for another, people loved it. Mostly begginners tho and new gen players tho!
It would great opportunity for Bamco to announce something. I know some Soulcalibur statues are planned by Prime 1 Studios, and the last time high profile studio made game's statues it was when SCVI is announced.
I gotta be honest I want to see a top fighting game list between them where impact is not a actor. A pure gameplay, music, etc. List. No smash, no Sf2, just pure favorite games they want to play.
@@MrBoxreviews Smash Ult isn't even the best Smash or plat fighter. Single player offering is weak, the input buffering system is ass, and comp play is overly defensive and campy. People just like Ult because it's filled to the brim with characters, stages, and music, but quantity does not equal quality.
@ that’s your personal opinion. There is a reason it is the highest selling fighting game of all time. To leave it out of the top 10 is silly. Casuals love it
I felt like most of the list is all Max Bias and the excuses of "Impact" for a lot of these games should be voided. The fact that Max vetoed like 4 games to be eliminated instead of his favorites meanwhile Steve had to fight for his games confirms it. I love Soul Caliber 1 but it definitely should not be #1 on the list
I had a blast watching this live but the underrepresentation of KOF and SNK as a whole is wild, '98 and 2002 UM deserved to be there but I get the Doods lean more on the Capcom side.
they have admitted multiple times they have tried snk but your right in that ur lucky CvS2 is even as high as it is (even if Max hasn't thought highly of it they last two times) and Max did mention 2002 UM atleast which i dono how ppl missed
@HolyShadows777 I feel like Max did not add them to the list even if he mentioned them cuz he didn't played them as much as the same level like 3rd Strike, Alpha 2 or any of the others games so he wouldn't be able to argue, but then again they always brought the level of "impact" each game had which always made my head scratch a bit cuz their list is not "top 10 most IMPACTFUL fighting games", but again is their list so whatever, it's fun seeing their takes
I love how they were ready to cut UMVC 3 at #11. It was down to it vs. MKX, then as soon as they start ranking they completely forget that and bump it all the way up to #6.
I don't know how they got there because I jumped to the end. But Soul Calbur 2 is better in every way, and it also did a lot for the community. It was like the beginning of sharing clips of tournaments with friends, we passed around clips of Aris with wacky pre-discord voldo tech and 12 year old Kayane crushing everyone in Europe. It captured more then any 3D fighter did.
@Jose-se9pu 1 was only in arcades and a dead home console no one owned. 2 was on every console at the time with different guest characters depending on the system. With impact>everything. Doesn't that just mean newer games will never be considered better than older fgs. Mk2, Sf2, T3 can't just automatically be considered "better" than most newer games coz of impact. Fighting games were much bigger in the gaming industry back then so no newer fg is gonna reach that level of impact with how the gaming industry has developed. It was also much easier to innovate back then coz these games had very few installations. Maybe there should just be top 10 older fgs and top 10 modern fgs.
yea the impact arguement is silly because if that was the case it would just be SF2 and VF1 and nothing else comes close..... but who the fuck is grinding VF1 or SF2:WW lol
@@Shodan130 Well that's just it, newer games DO have strong impact. Is why they put games like MKX and such in consideration. The problem with putting games like SF6 and Tekken 8 is because the support isn't done yet. In a year from now, those games could become GOATS. Or some additions could sour the game and make it as bad as some of the ones we grew up with. Look at FighterZ. That game was ASS at launch. Loved by many, but ass in so many areas. But time has been a benefit to the game, to the point I can completely see someone saying it's a Top 10 of all time. I get why they are arguing impact so much, cause to many. GOAT is a game that really either was a trailblazer of it's industry or is becoming a pioneer of the industry. SF6 feels this way and in time, could very well make it the best of all time. But there's no denying impact for games like say 3rd Strike. We just had one of the most memorable moments in EVO history come from that game. And it came from someone playing Hugo. The ACTUAL WORST character in the game. We had the MVC2 movement to bring the game to modern platforms and now we have it and people are experiencing MVC2 in all it's (busted) glory. And there's no denying that SoulCalibur, while the other games offer more. They haven't been able to really replicate the success and impact of the first game. (And we had Star Wars guest characters in SC4) It's not that modern games can't become GOATS. It's just not many modern fighting games in the last few years have done much to push things forward. I mean SF5 launch was horrible, MK11 despite being the best selling game in the series, is rather polarizing. And Tekken 7 while being a great return to form, it's online was ABYSMAL. (Same thing happened to Soulcalibur 6) FighterZ took time to get good, Strive is getting better, SF6 is only improving, Tekken 8 is getting better. Fighting games are in a better place right now so who knows. This list could easily change in a year or two.
@@Keeneye47_Wolfkeen yea but if you are to discuss what games are the most impactful, vf1 and world warrior are literally the only correct answer. That’s why the impact arguement is dumb because no other game comes nearly close.. So it should honestly just be about the games quality.. in saying that 3s and sf6 would be so far away from my top 10 it’s not even funny
@Shodan130 maybe so, but the reason why impact is brought up so much is because without said impact, we wouldn't have the games we do now. Look at MK9, if it failed. MKX would never exist. (mk9 was their final chance)
@Keeneye47_Wolfkeen My problem with impact is that it varies way too much to favor whatever game argument someone likes. It seemed to be the only argument for T3 beating T5. It then wasn't enough for sf2 to get top 3. How the hell did Max decide impact is enough for top 5 but not for GOAT. His own words were, "The only reason sf2 made it this far is because of impact," and "impact only takes you so far." Why not 1 rank higher or lower. It's just a really bad metric imo.
Street fighter 2 single handedly created the fighting game genre. Evo, tournaments, steaming, online games, owe recognition to the creation of a online sport. Street fighter 2 changed everything.
I never played SF2 until lockdown. Never really liked Street Fighter growing up was more into Tekken but got an SF2 arcade machine dirt cheap in 2020 and it's so good. I'd still put Tekken 3 over SF2 personally but objectively SF2 has to be number 1 at least if "impact" is a factor. It's a safe and boring choice but as someone with zero nostalgic ties to it it's simple, fun, revolutionary. I do suck at fighting games so I'm probably dismissing a lot of what makes MVC2 and SF3 fun, they're fun games but way too crazy especially MVC2. I've sunk maybe 12 hours into SF3 and MVC2, fun but I still have no idea what I'm doing in them. SF2 is more approachable. Soul Calibur is great, I can't really think of any negatives but I found the combat kinda boring, at least compared to everything else in the top 5. Sticking with everything in their top 5 I'd go: 1. Tekken 3 2. SF2 3. Soul Calibur 4. MVC2 5. SF3 But I think objectively I'd move SF2 over Tekken 3.. objectively SF2 deserves no. 1 but personally Tekken 3 is my goat.
I watched the Def Jam/Urban Reign bit and I have to chime in lol To those that do not know me, I am 1 of the best def jam players in the world, main people behind the current meta and the scene, and the guy that was helping Max during the stream and so on. I did want to note, I did not have much time to work with to teach you the ins and outs so I just taught you what you needed to have a decent fundamental understanding of what to do with Def Jam for while you are playing but there is a lot of depth in the game that I can teach you if you want to learn the games depth. I also happen to be the person behind meta for Def Jam Vendetta, Urban Reign, and other games like Beat Down Fists of Vengeance, Tenchu Return from Darkness, etc. I love all of these games, they are all super fun I will sit here and say Def Jam Fight for NY is definitely better than Vendetta and Urban Reign WWF NO Mercy is my favorite Wrestling of all time, Def Jam Vendetta does definitely follow that game through and through where as FFNY was more developed and a street brawler by comparison. Vendetta's reversal system is super inconsistent and the game has a super momentum based system. Don't even get me started on the busted tech like the DMX infinite lock or the JP exclusive Dabo God Kick. The game is hella busted in a dumb way. I love it, but the game's community is smaller than FFNY (DMX honestly carries Vendetta a lot on popularity I have seen) FFNY does have banned characters (which we let rock for 2024 at community request and will revert back to Standard next year) and people saw busted nonsense on high delay monitors xD The game is great and has a ton of depth, and is consistent on its mechanics (for the most part minus things like wall RNG) But all the characters get their time to shine, but am happy to teach you the meta for all these games that I have solved if you ever want to learn the depths. As for Urban Reign, I love that game, but the grab reversals can be weird, and with the better characters, and some meter, the game has nonsense like FFNY. The game is cool and I love it, but there is way too much you can just mash out of or is not true, just simply because its the game and how it is. FFNY has its issues, but it truly is the best game of them all functionally. I think yall were too harsh on FFNY and I am happy to teach yall the depths of No Mercy, FFNY, Vendetta, Urban Reign, etc. if ya want :) Anyways, I loved the video and appreciated the shoutout, but I had to type this cuz I was screamin watchin lmao xD
So WatchMojo just put up a video of the top 20 fighting game characters of all time and I find some of their choices quite questionable. Would love to hear your thoughts on the matter.
My personal opinion: the best fighting game is the one that means the most to you. I don't really feel the need to create an elimination process. If there's one more argument I can give in MK9's favour compared to MKX (and I like X a lot) is that beyond the Story Mode, there's just a lot more content. You had Test Your Might, Test Your Sight, a fully functional Tag Team mode and a 300 mission tower where all of them are unique. In my opinion, that's the best that MK got to selling an audience on mere content since Deception's Konquest mode.
Yep that's why even though I know they are objectively trash, Bloody Roar Extreme, Rival Schools, Melee, Psychic Force 2012, Battle Arena Toshinden on GameBoy, are somewhere on my list. probably not all top 10 but certainly top 20.
Fun Fact: My dad left Toys R Us shortly after I was born, and with him he took all of their old display consoles... including the official display copy of Soul Caliber II for GameCube. So that's neat.
While I have no bones to pick about this list, I don't play fighting games a lot I am ass at them, it did feel at times that Steve had to defend his games with his life and Max could just go "other games deserve to be taken off the list before my game" and that was it and they moved on to take off another game. Maybe it was edited out, but I would like to have seen some actual arguments in that regard. It felt like a veto and he nearly got 4 games in the top 10 because of it, until they took out SC2 at the end. It's great fun to see the arguments and see a list taking form, especially if you got no feelings about the games either way. And the arguments are the best part of it, having someone explain what makes them love the game, Steve and Kenny talking about MK and why they love it was the best part of the video I felt. Because you get to the real nitty gritty of why.
Had a ton of fun with the video. The editor deserves a raise too. Having said that, it's gotta be the first time in all these years of watching Max that I agree with Steve on something: the list lowkey sucks lol. At least I'm glad 3rd Strike didn't get the number one spot. Soul Calibur is also a 10/10 and I do hope it makes a comeback. I dunno about number 1 but it's top 5 at least. I think Tekken should've been a bit higher and the lack of KOF 2002 or 98 is disturbing. I have my personal picks as well (SamSho, Blazblue, Unist, GG Accent Core) but I knew those games were NEVER gonna make the cut.
Should really just rename this video Top Capcom Fighting Games of All Time because that's all this is, lol. There definitely should have been at least one SNK rep, you could even make it the bottom 10 but it should at least get a spot period.

Soul calibur 1 isn’t even the best game in the franchise and probably not even the second best (most people will argue 6 is better and some will say 3) so how in the world is it the best fighting game of all time?

I hate the argument of Impact being used. With that argument, nothing new can ever be considered great. No matter how good a game is or how hard it was worked on, it cant be considered one of the greatest of all time because it was influenced by something before it.
That's a good point
It's a tricky one to navigate. Impact isn't the best word. There's credit in revolutionizing and thinking outside the box relative to the times they were made. There's also credit in refining and polishing what's good. There's merit to both
I think that's fair that nothing new could ever be considered the greatest of all time. so many games have shot themselves in the foot gameplay wise over the years through various updates and patches and the potential for that to happen always exists with new games. A truly greatest game of all time should be able to stand the test of time so the new games will have to wait

Steve is going on his villain arc.
He began his heel turn AWHILE ago.
Steve saying that MvCi is better than DBFZ is the most ridiculous statement ever
DBFZ is one of the MAIN REASONS MVCI died! Everyone was hyped about Mahvel being back until Cell's intro shut it down!
It's more fun, IMO. Although, it is ugly as sin.

Proof positive that the Dreamcast was one of the greatest videogame consoles of all time!

Man, I'm mad about no guilty gear XX!
GGXR2 is a better game than SF2, T3, UMvC3, MK9 and every SC game.
no
@@Kingepticonyou know, that's a real thinker, but I see this vision. There's a real argument there
@@teebeemajestee More of an opinion statement than an argument. Hence the brevity. Sometimes you have to state the obvious to internet rubes.
Simmons is watching this at home right now with popcorn in his hands watching the chaos unfold
1 did it first
@Jose-se9pu 1 was only in arcades and a dead home console no one owned. 2 was on every console at the time with different guest characters depending on the system. It was winning best game of the year/decade as a Fighting game in many magazines and was getting 9-10 scores back when being a game journalist was respectful. Soul Calibur 2 clears number 1 by a mile.
2:07:40 I got two strawberries 😂 the edit killed me!
(And we had Star Wars guest characters in SC4)
It's not that modern games can't become GOATS.
Man, that battle for the list was crazy, but the editing for the whole 2+ hours keep me locked in! Shoutouts to the editor(s) for real
You miss some SNK,like KOF 97 and 2002 and samsho4
Sticking with everything in their top 5 I'd go:
1. Tekken 3
2. SF2
3. Soul Calibur
4. MVC2
5. SF3
But I think objectively I'd move SF2 over Tekken 3.. objectively SF2 deserves no. 1 but personally Tekken 3 is my goat.
Props to you, editor. Over 2 hours of chaos
Sonic Rush music goes so hard
omg this editor is cooking hold on
I watched the Def Jam/Urban Reign bit and I have to chime in lol
To those that do not know me, I am 1 of the best def jam players in the world, main people behind the current meta and the scene, and the guy that was helping Max during the stream and so on.
I love all of these games, they are all super fun
I will sit here and say Def Jam Fight for NY is definitely better than Vendetta and Urban Reign
WWF NO Mercy is my favorite Wrestling of all time, Def Jam Vendetta does definitely follow that game through and through where as FFNY was more developed and a street brawler by comparison.
Vendetta's reversal system is super inconsistent and the game has a super momentum based system. Don't even get me started on the busted tech like the DMX infinite lock or the JP exclusive Dabo God Kick. The game is hella busted in a dumb way. I love it, but the game's community is smaller than FFNY (DMX honestly carries Vendetta a lot on popularity I have seen)
FFNY does have banned characters (which we let rock for 2024 at community request and will revert back to Standard next year) and people saw busted nonsense on high delay monitors xD
The game is great and has a ton of depth, and is consistent on its mechanics (for the most part minus things like wall RNG)
But all the characters get their time to shine, but am happy to teach you the meta for all these games that I have solved if you ever want to learn the depths.
I think yall were too harsh on FFNY and I am happy to teach yall the depths of No Mercy, FFNY, Vendetta, Urban Reign, etc. if ya want :)
Anyways, I loved the video and appreciated the shoutout, but I had to type this cuz I was screamin watchin lmao xD
This vid was mad entertaining xD
I agree. Def Jam Fight for New York has a deep meta I didn't know about until I went and talked to the FFNY players at CEO2024 and it blow my mind.
Injustice over KOFs 98, 2002, and samsho is INSANE. THATS INSANE
The DOA and Def Jam slander will not be tolerated.
There should be two separate lists: one for the most influential fighting games and one for current best playing fighting games.
How the hell are rbs or rb2, samshoVsp, and kof 98, not on this list?
I love all those games but did you really expect Capcom fan boys to put an snk game in the top ten?
Fun Fact: My dad left Toys R Us shortly after I was born, and with him he took all of their old display consoles... including the official display copy of Soul Caliber II for GameCube. So that's neat.
Even when Simmons isn't here he wins wtf
*Simmons's Palpatine laugh*
Diabolical work
I just love watching Kenny in these kinds of videos! Drops one liners, let’s everyone talk their talk, and he knows his shit! 😤😤
not putting VF5 on the list is just fighting game blasphemy
pffff
VF 4 > 5
i doubt i'd fair any better tbf, BOTH VFs up there got axed and I was already hard pressed on what theyd have in top 10
@@HolyShadows777 yeah but not even CONSIDERING it is blasphemy.
Unfortunately none of them really played VF.
That is exactly how I felt. I feel like this list is all Max Bias and the excuses of "Impact" for a lot of these games should be voided.
Seeing them cross out Darkstalkers hurt....
Darkstalkers will never die. They will always resurrect as true immortals.
we all knew it was happening but we are glad it showed up for the party nonetheless
Before Injustice too...
Every time I play UMVC3 I always say, “The combo’s still going?!?” It’s just so free flow of a game. I love it.
seeing steeb go thru it is my sadistic pleasure
1000% deserves it too... like goddam man, will agree on him with gameplay (i dono how SF2 even made the list much less TOP FOUR?)
Steve is the funniest person to listen to in these lists...but also the *SOLE* reason these take HOURS to discuss XD
34:54 i can't get over Max being Wilson from Home Improvement sitting behind that chair like that
Should really just rename this video Top Capcom Fighting Games of All Time because that's all this is, lol.
There definitely should have been at least one SNK rep, you could even make it the bottom 10 but it should at least get a spot period.
My thoughts exactly
