Beta Ray Bill is one of my favorite Marvel characters man, I didn’t expect you to make a video about him. He’d be one of my top picks Marvel Vs. Capcom 4. Also, after watching one of your earlier videos, I really want a Beta-Ray Bill Vs. Mysterio fight. Side note, I really love how in Lego Marvel Superheros, he says “Thor is my Hammer Brother!” That’s just so wholesome
I think a lot of people my age were introduced to Beta Ray Bill thanks to the Planet Hulk movie, and those few minutes of screentime he had was enough to captivate me. Out of all the people that have wielded Thor's hanmer, Bill has to be the one character that's the most worthy in terms of story, personality, and struggles.
That's interesting considering that Beta Ray Bill wasn't even in the comic book version of Planet Hulk and was only used in the movie because they didn't have the film rights for Silver Surfer.
i don't remember the exact time but i remember seeing beta ray bills weirdly awesome name pop up whenever Thor related stuff came out and i wanted to see if the hype around him was worth it and I fell in love with his how cool he is
Everyone might be wielding the hammer these days but Bill will always be special for being the first one to do it that wasn't Thor. Back when only Thor could wield it Bill was the very first to prove his worthiness
I think it’s worth noting that the movie Bill watches is “Hook” with Robin Williams playing an older Peter Pan who gave up his infinite youth, the thing Peter desires most, to be with the woman he fell in love with and grow old with her. It’s a story about Pan accepting first the inevitable, and then later as he returns to Neverland, accepting who he really is, even if he’s older, greyer, he’s still always Peter Pan.
The only problem with this story is that it invent drama between Thor and Bill and make Thor look like an unreasonable asshole when I think he would usually have enough wisdom to understand is friends problem. Anyway Thor being blood brother with an alien horse-cyborg is the best thing in marvel.
Yeah, it’s one of those mischaracterizations done exclusively for the plot. Thor would’ve helped him, but with Thor in the fight with surtr it would’ve been too easy for tension
I agree it is a mischaracterization as to how far thor let bill fall, once it got to that point it’s clear bill doesn’t want thor’s help. He doesn’t want it to just be another victory for the god of thunder. This was a deeply personal affair.
Beta ray bill is a lot like Martian man Hunter. Solitary warriors who lost so much but who are righteous at heart. The fact they’re both heroes that fight for their new adopted home worlds and are second to only the most powerful of heroes is just awesome. I love beta ray bill.
When the beta is the alpha but the beta has the name of beta but isn't a beta because he is a sigma and alpha. Ngl this brainrot shit is hurting my brain
Just wanted to say, probably my favorite art is from Alex Ross. He gives a vibe of “how golden age heroes look like”. And since most of the comics I like are philosophical, Ross’s art tends to be used for those.
*I F*CK*NG LOVE BETA RAY BILL!!! RAGHHHHHH....* When I was a kid seeing Beta Ray Bill story makes me really make him my most favorite marvel character.
Ngl bill looks fire with that sword, but i'm curious on that ending. It feels so bittersweet, even if the message is pretty good, kinda makes me think that he didn't really learn much, at least it felt like that he was able to make everyone see him as his original self, but he is still the big horse guy in reality. Maybe i misunderstood something
i think that in completing his mission and getting closure, he learned to accept himself for who he is. Learning to love that self though, will be a longer jouney.
@Junerpher ig that could be it. I just got confused cause he didn't seem like he "accepted" himself since he still went and changed how he looks, and it even seemed like it was more of an illusion than an actual change. Pretty interesting story still tbh
I love how for 90% of the "Oh they look like a monster, nobody would ever love them" characters, everyone agrees that it's going to take WAY worse to not find them hot
That Planet Hulk movie was the reason I decided to check out Beta Ray Bill and I'm thankful for it. It introduced me to my favorite Marvel character besides Spider-Man and Nova. I LOVE Beta Ray Bill. He's the broest of bros. An absolute unit and sweet heart.
Beta Ray Bill is hands down my favorite comic book character. His physical appearance is pure comic book whackiness, but his character is so deep and noble
I came into this vid on a humble like "Who the fuck is BRB?" and left with a much deeper story than I ever anticipated. I was invested as FUCK for a character I didn't even know about until now. Subscribed
My first introduction to the character was as an alternative skin for Thor in the first Marvel: Ultimate Alliance game. Took a short dive into the wiki and found him interesting enough to keep the skin on permanently
That's why i love Bill too, i feel a connection to heroes that look like monsters but are actually compassionate people. The "I am not blind" scene is my favourite in ALL of comics
This comic made me a huge fan of Beta Ray Bill to the point I even bought a figure of him. I wish we could actually get to see him in more solo comics or if he gets his own tv show
The crazy part about the Marvel Thor mythos is that although he is now a top 5 favorite character for me to read , Thor was the last person I enjoyed reading. Wanna guess who the first was 🙃. That's right our boy BrB. Bill was an epic revenge character that I just loved. Also liked his hammer as well. He has a couple of my favorite comic book scenes one being when him & Thor held up Asgard😤
There are not enough "like" buttons for this story or this video. Excellent work. Beta Ray Bill is one of the most underrated characters in comics, all of them. Extraordinary work and channel.
Beta Ray Bill is the galaxy’s mightiest homie. When Thor becomes unworthy Bill offers up his own hammer to his friend as a replacement Truly out doing Thor in nobility in that moment Thor was so shook by his loyalty that he simply couldn’t except it Beta might be in his name but Bill is pure Chad
I recall seeing the reveal of Bill's true form in the pages of Simonson's run on Thor and feeling disappointed by how unremarkable it looked compared to his horse form. Seeing how much that appearance means to him after he lost the ability to change does at least help me appreciate the storytelling potential the twist ended up leading to in the future.
I agree, Beta Ray Bill has such a unique design for an alien that his race looking so bland and uninspired fell really flat for me, even for this storyline where he the point is that he looks ugly loses points because his humanoid form also looks ugly. My only guess is that Sif is big on kissing I guess? I much would have rather preferred if his race looked similar to his normal form but because he was around Asgardians for so long he grew self conscious about his normal looks while his hammer let him change to look more like an Asgardian mixed with his race, instead of a thin boyish voldamort.

In an exuberant sea of comics you always find the most touching ones and tell it again in such depth and melancholy it becomes a much more powerful story that puts me into tears every time. Please continue.
BRB is the best friend you don’t deserve. Dude is true blue to the core. And will fight anybody if his friends are in danger. Like, at 100% until his opponent is dead or done. Bill is the Thunderhorse for a reason.
Mullet-man, you are a real fan of all things comics . I recognize your passion. It's not just the art,, not just the story, or the medium, it's all that and more.
I love that despite the "beauty is inside not outside" lesson still being called Valid, Bill ALSO is allowed to still be legitimate in caring about having a body that conforms to how he sees himself, still has a right to try and make that outer beauty mesh with the inner beauty. I like to read that last reflect as just that the trauma remains, even though Bill did, in fact, just earn a reward of something that is His Right to have and enjoy.
Beta Ray Bill is one of the best characters in Marvel and it's a shame he's so underused. His brotherly relationship with Thor is fricking amazing. I've always dreamed of him appearing in (early) MCU projects, be the Thor films of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Watch from start to finish I have to say your right, this is straight up beautiful. 25:04 also amazing summary and this panel had such great details that goes more deeper than just the art too is smth I personally love too even tho it’s alittel corny it has great impact and alot of unique meaning within his story, I whould’ve never know about this amazing dude if it weren’t for this vid, thanks for spreaing this
THanks for sharing this!! I don't read alot of Marvel and I only keep up with several characters Man-Thing, She Hulk, and of course Beta ray Bill is definitely one of the greatest things to come from Marvel!!
I think they allude to the movie "HOOK" with Robin Williams. The movie that they watch together at the end shows a scene where a young child is saying "Oh there you are, Peter." I think this is a scene in Hook where the lost boys finally recognize Peter Pan although he is in a much older form.
I love love LOVE Dan Mora, he just feels like THE DC artist right now. And I’m SO hyped that we share a bias towards Sean Murphy :D Thank you for teaching me about the GOAT that is Beta Ray Bill
incredible video as always, this comic had a lot of cool concepts and i have a new appreciation for beta ray bill. also TIL surturs sword is named Twilight!
Thanks for this. I now know something about Beta Ray Bill. When I was a kid, I thought he was a villain of Thor and a copycat, but my cousins said he was a superhero. Growing up watching Marvel and reading comics, I never came across some background stories of Bill. I really appreciate your video.
This was hype as hell, I was glued the entire time. I'm not a big fan of him defeating Surtr, as I feel like he should be this unclimbable, opposing wall for the gods, but at least how it was done was cool. I like he how still claimed the sword, instead of denying it and turning it into a sappy life lesson, but in the end he still wasn't satisfied with getting what he wanted, which was still a life lesson. 10/10 need to be the next Marvel movie.

My favorite artists are Alex Ross or John Romita jr
I pray they don't do anything with Bill, i would not like to see another Thor Love and Thunder
@zanochureal7588 hopefully they are getting their crap together
Nah man i hope the opposite, they would destroy this character so much lmao
Mullet-man, you are a real fan of all things comics . I recognize your passion. It's not just the art,, not just the story, or the medium, it's all that and more.
I love that despite the "beauty is inside not outside" lesson still being called Valid, Bill ALSO is allowed to still be legitimate in caring about having a body that conforms to how he sees himself, still has a right to try and make that outer beauty mesh with the inner beauty.
I like to read that last reflect as just that the trauma remains, even though Bill did, in fact, just earn a reward of something that is His Right to have and enjoy.
Beta Ray Bill is one of my favorite marvel characters since the first time I learned about him.
It feels like I was waiting years for you to post another Video
Beta Ray Bill is one of the best characters in Marvel and it's a shame he's so underused. His brotherly relationship with Thor is fricking amazing.
I've always dreamed of him appearing in (early) MCU projects, be the Thor films of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
19:53 woah bro calm tf down I’m in the dark.😂
so sif wanted beta ray for his appearance
Watch from start to finish I have to say your right, this is straight up beautiful. 25:04 also amazing summary and this panel had such great details that goes more deeper than just the art too is smth I personally love too even tho it’s alittel corny it has great impact and alot of unique meaning within his story, I whould’ve never know about this amazing dude if it weren’t for this vid, thanks for spreaing this
Beta Ray Bill is AWSOME
You made that choice to use Bill in Alliance all those years ago and stand by his side worth it. Thank you for helping refuel my comic dive
THanks for sharing this!! I don't read alot of Marvel and I only keep up with several characters Man-Thing, She Hulk, and of course Beta ray Bill is definitely one of the greatest things to come from Marvel!!
Man this comics made me become such a Beta Ray Bill fan.
Mullet-Man doing a Beta Ray Bill vid!! LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
Art over story - same here, Spawn was a good example.
“Thy glaze” fucking goat😂
Thanks for sharing this. I’ve loved Beta since his inception. Would never had seen and heard this story ! Simonson ruled this one!
The moment surtur cracks his knuckles, saying to Bill "prepare thy self". That got me goosebumps.
I think they allude to the movie "HOOK" with Robin Williams. The movie that they watch together at the end shows a scene where a young child is saying "Oh there you are, Peter." I think this is a scene in Hook where the lost boys finally recognize Peter Pan although he is in a much older form.
You just gave me a new found appreciation for a character i barely knew
perfect video, auto subbed, I always felt Beta Ray was alpha but danf his backstory makes him more of a bad ass
4:17 If you know, you know
Fantastic breakdown of a fantastic story. Awesome job dude!
Beta ray bill is so awesome. He’s my favorite character thank you for this video hopefully it makes him gain some new fans.
I love love LOVE Dan Mora, he just feels like THE DC artist right now. And I’m SO hyped that we share a bias towards Sean Murphy :D
Thank you for teaching me about the GOAT that is Beta Ray Bill
Im so happy you covered this, i’m pretty new to comics and beta ray bill was the character that got me HOOKED
Great story telling recap of my all time Favorite Hero! Thank you 🙏
one of my favorite comics in recent memory. Always had a soft spot for the horse face but damn this made him top 5 for me
I’ve been a Beta Ray Bill fan since I was a kid watching Super Hero Squad. Glad to see him get the love he always deserved!!
incredible video as always, this comic had a lot of cool concepts and i have a new appreciation for beta ray bill. also TIL surturs sword is named Twilight!
I aspire to create videos like you one day. Excellent job, my comic loving brotha
The ending makes me think that the sword didn't quite do what Bill wanted...
It's insane that this guy wasn't in the Thor movies.
Thanks for this. I now know something about Beta Ray Bill. When I was a kid, I thought he was a villain of Thor and a copycat, but my cousins said he was a superhero. Growing up watching Marvel and reading comics, I never came across some background stories of Bill. I really appreciate your video.
I've always viewed Beta-Ray Bill as "The Cow of Thunder"
This was hype as hell, I was glued the entire time. I'm not a big fan of him defeating Surtr, as I feel like he should be this unclimbable, opposing wall for the gods, but at least how it was done was cool. I like he how still claimed the sword, instead of denying it and turning it into a sappy life lesson, but in the end he still wasn't satisfied with getting what he wanted, which was still a life lesson. 10/10 need to be the next Marvel movie.
Yessssss, one of my favorite characters
I deathly look forward to what they do next with Bill because I read this when it was ongoing and hot damn it's so heavy and emotional.
