Same. So glad I found your channel! Heading out on my first solo car camping trip in about a month. I never felt great about any of the other builds. Love your setup!
Hi! Great ideas! Really practical set up. Perhaps one day I will also be able to travel like that. A good idea for ventilating the mattress is to cut some holes all over the wood. It helps reducing the weight load too. A bit here and there and you save some money on fuel. I apologize for my English. It is not my first language. Looking forward for more videos!

THIS has been so valuable. The way you put that shelf has given me the perfect solution to the water storage problem. I am also going to do my condiments like yours. I bought the two containers and the storage containers as well. My SUV is set up with less space, I swear! It is a 2002 GMC Envoy SLE. You would think it would be bigger, but no, it's smaller. I will take before and after photos and show you. It only has a 2nd row of seats and I'm going to remove them as they are cumbersome and not good to keep in the vehicle. Space hogs. Thanks for your videos.

I REALLY appreciate all those close-in, destructed-for-our-benefit shots! Wow. Thank you so much. The actual building of shelving is not so easy as it looks. Not. at. all. I have not seen such good detail in any other video. Very generous of you, esp when it's evident the extra lot of work that was done to make the video so we can so clearly see. Thank you again, and may I say you deserve the mountain sheep bonus. :-) Clever use of bolts for the water station-I've got to look at that again-oh yeah!! :-)

Are you not doing videos now? I just found your channel and I love it. I have not seen anything recent. Would love to see more. Thinking about getting a CRV to do this.
Great ideas, thorough explanation...an awesome video. I already have those same Rubbermaid bins - love that you use them to support your bed platform - doesn't take too much cutting and building. I'm all for the simple methods! I'm saving this to a playlist to refer back to later, as well as your other stealth camping videos. Thank you for making these videos!
Don't have a CRV now (did at one time) but have a RAV now and enjoyed your built since I have a side-open door rather than a top-open back door like your CRV. Many useful ideas. Thanks much!

I have a Chevy Equinox and looks about the same size. I have no build at all. My mattress sits on what ever soft stuff I have and a storage box behind the front seat that the head of the bed sits. It's worked well but I want a build now and yours looks like a great one. Thank you for posting. Now to find someone who can do something like this.

I have a Honda CR-V and I want to do a similar build. I want to make my plywood so it can fold when not in use. Also I don't want a shelf at the end where my feet will be. I want to have a cargo bin for the top of the vehicle.
Hey Man, love the build! I just got an 05 gen 2 with only 65k miles and have been dreaming up something similar then found your video and it all is really starting to come together. Quick question - wondering if you remember the size of those Rubbermaid bins. The link brings me to a generic page with multiple offerings and my guess is that you're using the 14 gallon bins but hoping you can confirm. Thanks for the video and all the content!
Hi nice and informativ video. Cut my mattress with a non electric sharp bred knife and worked great. But i became a hard surface floor sleeper no back pain any more since;-). Now I use only a yoga mat with a thick cotton blanket even when it comes to car travel. Both roll up small and is easy stored away. Do also yoga on the mat so this item is double used ;-). Left a like, subscribed and hit the little bell. Stay safe and blessings from Germany
Great video bro absolutely love your channel I’ve just bought a 2005 Hyundai Tucson I’m gonna build out which is very similar to your Honda there, thanks for some awesome ideas take care till the next video 🙌🛻🙌😎👊
Your channel is a gift mate :) I planning to buy a gen2 CRV and made similar conversion for summer trips. But I'm almost 6 feet (195cm) so have some doubt how can I fit lol. I guess I need to lie in to the CRV to check , I'm about to check out this weekend.
Great mini SUV video! I have an 07 Xterra and this gave me many great ideas. I have heard that you ought to drill some holes in the bed platform so that it doesn't get moldy and the foam can breathe. Happy camping:)
The two little plastic drawers in the footwells... are these really sturdy enough to support the Rubbermaid tote, wood, mattress, your head? I feel like I'd be afraid they would break.
Hey, that was a nice video and overview. I have a Honda CRV 2003 and I built a while ago a temporary double bed in it (while I was already on a road trip), just for that and future trips, not to live on it. I bought some plywood and searched for some abandoned pallets on the way and ended up finding and building my bed just folding the seats and covering them with plywood nailed with some improvised bed legs. It worked very well for the road trip time. After the trip. I decided to make it modular - two parts, so I could remove it and put it back by myself, whenever doing a road trip or going out during a long weekend. There was a point where I planned to split the modules in two again so I could do the single bed setup that you did, your project is very simple, cheap and fast to build, I would kind of copy the whole idea, but now I just got another car so I'm just collecting some ideas for it. But will definitely show your videos to the person who will buy my Honda CRV in the case is an adventurer like us. Thanks for sharing it and God bless you wherever you go. Take care mate. Greetings from New Zealand💚
@@intheopenair3725 thanks, it has been an excellent vehicle so far. I currently have 299,500 miles on the original engine and transmission. And continues to run strong.

I love your CRV build. I have a CRV also and plan to build something very similar to yours! My question is..can you access the built-in CRV table from the back? Looks like it would be pretty difficult. I bet that's why you bought that sweet aluminum table.
Hi Julie, good question! At first I thought I would want the table but as I’ve traveled and lived in it, I’ve realized I don’t need it. The small table does everything I need and it’s so much easier to pull out and setup. But I do like knowing I have the big table because I can still get at it if I absolutely need it. Best of luck with your build! Let me know if you have any other questions :))
@@intheopenair3725 Dude! I just used the coolest trick to darken the bumpers and trim on my '04 CRV....I used a heat gun! That's right! This is a really great video! I’ve seen many and this tour is so good. Your set up is very much like mine. Your bed set up is very similar to mine, only I used a bottom part of a futon bed. My Brother is a welder and he welded it to size. He put 2x4s across the top with hinges that allow me to lift up and get to things stored underneath bed. II also use a storage organizer for behind the passenger seat, that I use for easy to get to storage. I also like you made 2 different surface shelf/table to use along with the back of the passenger seat. I love it! Sometimes I only need a small shelf and other times I need something like a table. Table I use for eating, working on computer or Bible studying. Table even has a easy to remove and store leg for solid support. I like you use those plastic drawer system. Mine where 3 drawers. I use 2 for clothes and 1 for a compact kitchen with a cutting board on the top. So surprised how much will fit in it. Easy to carry and use for cooking at any park. I do have a question?.... I am always looking for good hook ideas for inside of my SUV. I see you had soon hook system through out your SUV, you even had jackets hanging in the back. Please share how and what you used to do that. Thank You. Bless you. Jesus is King. 🙏🏽

I have watched this a few times. How do manage opening the bottom drawer in the back. I don't have much upper arm strength. 😕 With your experience, would small stacked tubs work? Just trying g to trouble shoot.
This was the BEST barely build use of space I have seen on YT. I have an 07 crv I am working on for weekend camping. My rear liftgate swings up rather than to the side and I also lose some basement space bc of the spare tire. You did a masterful job of using simplicity, lightweight plastic, and space optimization. I see under the shelf on drivers side I see angle steel brackets, is that for a portable sliding shelf? How do you keep condensation build up to a minimum while cold weather sleeping (that may be a future vid idea) ? Thanks
Thanks Robert!! I really appreciate it. Yes!! I considered putting a small slide out shelf there but then abandoned the idea because it was too high up... As far as condensation is concerned, I usually leave a window or my sunroof cracked open to allow for fresh air and ventilation. I’ll also run my small fan on the low setting all night long. These two measures work well to keep condensation low. Great questions!! More vids coming soon....
What stuff would you keep in the bed bins??? They hold a lot of stuff but getting to it would be a huge pain in the butt, especially the middle ones. The shaved one at the end might not be to bad but?? With the shelf on top it limits the clearance. Love the build... great job. 👍
You probably already know this but these crvs are designed that if you slide the front seats all the way fwd , remove the headrests, slide the rear seats and fold the front seats back down, they will nearly lay flat. This could eliminate the need for foam and other things. A tweak of some kind could be done to really get it perfectly flat. In theory 2 ppl could sleep side by side in the front. or you could add a guest.
Hi Robert! Yes, I’ve used the this trick in the past (pre-build) but nowadays I prefer this more function, comfortable, and more livable design. Have fun out there!! Thanks for the input
Very nice...I love it! Can you show your home at night the next time you do an interior tour? I have the same Luci string lights and I would love to see them in your rig at night. Thanks for sharing your home.
Hi! Thanks for this. Question, Do you crack the windows at night for more ventilation , and if so , how do you stop bugs? I love car camping and want to convert my crv but I live in the south and there's mosquitoes that immediately fly in if I crack any windows, but it's too hot in there to not crack windows, even at night
Hi James! Yes, that’s a great idea. I’ll work one out and post it soon. I’m currently up north helping my family with some rural construction, but I’ll get to it soon! Thanks for following along!
Hi. Storing your table top along side the front seat is good. But if your CRV is the same as mine there is a side impact airbag right their. Get too close with the plywood and it will splinter the timber if it deploys. Be careful!
So thankful for your videos. I’ve spent hours upon hours watching others & haven’t gotten near the info as from you. Appreciate it sooo much.

More vids coming soon....
good job

Thank you!!!
What stuff would you keep in the bed bins??? They hold a lot of stuff but getting to it would be a huge pain in the butt, especially the middle ones. The shaved one at the end might not be to bad but?? With the shelf on top it limits the clearance. Love the build... great job. 👍
what advantage do you find with having the tarp extending from the driver's side as opposed to the passenger side?
Hi Shoshy, I find it works for me because I enter the vehicle from the drivers side in the back when in camper mode (my bed is in the passenger side).
Do you think they want to get a ride?beautiful,!.
Great ideas!!!
Did you take the seat out for the bed?
You probably already know this but these crvs are designed that if you slide the front seats all the way fwd , remove the headrests, slide the rear seats and fold the front seats back down, they will nearly lay flat. This could eliminate the need for foam and other things. A tweak of some kind could be done to really get it perfectly flat. In theory 2 ppl could sleep side by side in the front. or you could add a guest.
Hi Robert! Yes, I’ve used the this trick in the past (pre-build) but nowadays I prefer this more function, comfortable, and more livable design. Have fun out there!! Thanks for the input
How do you get the back storage under the bed? Do you have to pull the back one out of the hatch door?
Very nice...I love it! Can you show your home at night the next time you do an interior tour? I have the same Luci string lights and I would love to see them in your rig at night. Thanks for sharing your home.
Enjoyed your video. What year crv is yours that your rear door opens sideways and do you know what year they offered suicide door
I just have the same car, thanks 4 ur sharing bro
Hi! Thanks for this. Question, Do you crack the windows at night for more ventilation , and if so , how do you stop bugs? I love car camping and want to convert my crv but I live in the south and there's mosquitoes that immediately fly in if I crack any windows, but it's too hot in there to not crack windows, even at night
nice bro ihave idea for my jeep.thankyou for sharing.see you raound
Really good! Thank you!
Super job, thanks for sharing.
Hey i was wondering what you do when its hot , outside
Plug in my USB fan and open all the windows :))
@@intheopenair3725 yeah that's good but not stealthy 😅
True. When stealth + hot weather intersect, I tend to fully open my sunroof only and turn the fan on high. Cheers!
Love the video!
Hey!! Thanks again! Much appreciated, my friend
Im planning on doing the same thing with the same car! Can you do a video on how to travel safe solo?
Be careful!
Good tip
how are you in Banff Alberta during a pandemic?
Oh wow!!! Goats. So cool.
Dude..I just found your channel. Are you still traveling?
Enjoy tour ur suv and very creative
Where's your spare tire? Is it a hassle to get at it with your setup?
