    I have owned one of these for a year. It is an absolutely great car. Drawbacks. The wiper set-up is not made for winter conditions. Very very hard to get them up and the ice off them. In winter the battery range is very low. In the summer in Canada it is great. Charging at 110V is 11.5 hours, charging with a level 2 (220 V) it takes 2.5 hours. It drives wonderful. The other drawback is that the charging port should have a light to make it easier to plug in. The wireless charger overheats the phone my guess is that this will be recalled. the pros outway the cons. Our friends have the Mitsubishi PHEV and they are all jealous. I love the center consol. Very easy to get used to.

      Is it true that the gas engine will come on and use gas while battery still has a charge ? I have seen other videos on this PHEV that have said that happens if u push the accelerator enough while in EV mode . Plus I have heard that you can't run the heat while in EV mode ?

      I have tried every level 2 charger for this, and it takes 4 hours and 15 mins from 15% to 100%.

    • @liamkiley6118
      @liamkiley6118 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoniAbando Don't waste any more money on chargers. The level 2 charger is not the problem. You can send a tsunami worth of electricity to your car but the charging system on the Santa Fe only lets in a small wave worth of electricity. I just plugged mine in and it took just under 3 hours. How many amps are you sending to the charger? If you are sending more than 30 amps and it still takes more than 4 hours I would talk to your dealer. It is too bad that it does not have the same charging system as the Tuscon which is much faster.

      @liamkiley6118 indeed! I always go to the free level 2 chargers and a couple times I went to paid ones, all of them was 4 hours. And it's 3.3 kwh every time. I don't get it why some reviews saying "2 hours" on level 2 charges... this Chanel is the only honest one that said 4 hours. I wonder now how long will it take for the level 1 charging?!?

    Love the comprehensive, concise review. Other channels' reviews are too long and get into some weeds that are not important when trying to decide which vehicle is the best for me.
    Suggestion: more detaiks on exact front seat controls & comfort. This may save my marriage if includes passenger controls. Thanks

    Good video. Only thing that was wrong is that this model does not have wireless APPLE Carplay and Android Auto. This has built in navigation, so you have to plug in your phone in order to use the carplay and android auto. Vehicle is also available in PA

      I have this car in the limited version and it has wireless apple carplay. You can even connect one phone to the apple wireless and a second one to the bluetooth for playing music. the apple car play is not perfect but I run Waze off my phone while my daughters play their music

    How is it in the same class as rav4 and CRV? Those are compact suvs. This has much more room legroom.

    • @darrensmith8673
      @darrensmith8673 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, this is closer to a mid size SUV, maybe not as big as a Highlander but bigger than a Rav 4 and CRV for sure.

    • @insooleedat1asiandude
      @insooleedat1asiandude ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a 2 row midsize but more similar to the sportage than telluride (a 3 row midsize)

      Yes agreed. These are not in the same class. The Tucson is in the same class as the rav4 and crv.

    Not available in Michigan, going with the regular hybrid instead. One thing with the PHEV is no battery save button like the Prime which is odd.

    I know the hybrid and the PHEV models don't come with temporary spare tire, but can I have an after-market temporary spare tire installed? Is there enough room to install one?

    • @natemccord1860
      @natemccord1860 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the PHEV does have a spare. It's under the vehicle, not inside the trunk storage space

    i have the Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid and i love my car. but right now charging an ev is more expensive then buying gas?
    i live in nyc, i charge at home and it cost 33c per kilowatt hour. so.33 x 13.3 = $425 to fully charge the battery and i can only go 30 miles on pure ev. gas is $3.65. per gallon

    • @zekew7546
      @zekew7546 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm confused...
      33 cents times 13.3 does not equal $438. Help, what am I missing?
      PS. Also Pacific NW has $5/gallon due to gas taxes. And hydroelectric is probably cheaper here.

    • @hargert
      @hargert ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zekew7546 Correct that is $4.13 to charge and gets you about 30 miles of range. So at about 35c per kilowatt it may be equal to gas. Unless you have time of use or solar. Gas was not 3.65 in NYC when the post came out and if so that is way under market. In his case it would make sense to save money and get a standard model or just hybrid.

    one thing to keep in mind for Hyundai/Kia PHEV's is that if you live in a cold environment, there is no electric heat pump so you'll be using gas to hear the cabin and defrost the car. Not sure the fuel impact in reality but maybe someone here knows more!

    • @marylouisecooper5706
      @marylouisecooper5706 ปีที่แล้ว

      I try to use just the heated seats when I normally would run heater. I park in a garage so the car is a little warmer. Or I run the heat and turn it off when I’m comfortable.

      Lost 6-10mpg in the Tuscon hybrid when we hit freezing temps. These random warm weeks it goes back up…

    • @liamkiley6118
      @liamkiley6118 ปีที่แล้ว

      the engine comes on to heat the cabin and the battery has much less range. Not ideal and takes away from the efficiency of the mobile

    I live in North Carolina, which is not one of the 11 states in which this care is available.
    I own a 2016 Sonata Hybrid, a 2017 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Ultimate and a 2018 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T, so you could say I am a fan of Hyundai.
    As my daughter is going to be getting her license, I want to giver her use of the 2017 Santa Fe and buy myself a new car. This one. I want a new Santa Fe PHEV. That Hyundai USA won't let a customer like me order one directly or through my dealer is ridiculous!
    My typical trips are about 24 miles round trip. I could run my errands, come home, plug into my home outlet and charge up for the next day...this car would be perfect for me....but NOOOOOOOOOOO! Hyundai won't let me get one. In 2017, when I bought my Sonata and 2018 Santa Fe, I left Toyota behind because they had made some similar stupid decision.
    I don't NEED to get a new car for about 4 or 5 months...maybe Hyundai will wake up between now and then and realize it is good to keep your good customers happy.

    • @zekew7546
      @zekew7546 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "Hyundai won't let you", -- but does that include traveling to nearest eligible state, buy it or order it, and then drive new SF back home to register it in ineligible state? Thanks

      it has a standard car charger on the rear passenger side of the car. From the outside it looks like a gas cover. You can plug in a level one or level two charger into it

    Very comprehensive need to know details about this vehicle. It seems as though the entire auto industry is just price gouging customers, just because they can! It's hard for me to believe the so-called chip shortage scenario...🤔
