We brought home an AWD Hybrid Santa Fe Calligraphy 5 days ago and are in love. It might take us 3 years to figure out all the features, but we're quite happy.
I’m in love with my 2025 Santa Fe hybrid limited. Only had it 2 weeks but it’s the best vehicle I’ve owned. Can’t wait to figure out all the bells and whistles!
Love my 38mpg, 47mpg in town, dual oane glass, tons of storage, smooth and fact that there are not many there. $10k cheaper than highlander for same options. Also, cruising in Hybrid at 74mph.
Thanks Alex! This is the review I have been waiting for. Had a rental Hybrid AWD Tucson with 33k miles on the clock a couple of months back. I was blown away with how smooth, efficient and quiet it was for such a reasonable price. Now that the Santa Fe has the same drivetrain... I'm sold before even testing it. Love the design (tucked wiper), cargo a/c for the pups, perfect size and great efficiency. For those who say it is a copy of Land Rover products... As the british courts have decided (JLR vs. Ineos), you can't really hold a box a kid would draw as proprietary design. There is plenty that sets this apart from JLR products, namely reliability 😂. Kudos to Hyundai for making something attractive and practical!
All these comments are saying they don’t like the design but these are selling as fast as they can be delivered. I’m actually a fan of the design personally and the hybrid mileage for the size is impressive.
The Santa Fe is in a different class of competition than the Rav 4. The powertrains of the Santa Fe are excellent with the exception of the 8 speed auto DCT on the 2.5t engine. If Hyundai was smart, they would give the that transmission a physical first gear otherwise the only recommendation I can give to anyone is the hybrid.
Living here in LA where we see about every new car known to man kind I’ve seen a bunch of cyber trucks so far and maybe 3 of these so idk if they’re selling as much as you think but also ! They look good just those taillights they literally ruin the car for me the refresh should definitely help this car out !
The design of the outside is good, but the inside is even better!! Also better than 80% of the cars in its price range! The 24” infotainment/ dash screen says “ the future is now”. Yes, you all heard me say this first😆 please send me all of the residual checks for this phrase 😆😆
This new Santa Fe is awesome! Some people will hate on it, but who cares? It reminds me of the Land Rover Defender with a bit of the G-Wagon mixed in. Everyone's complaining about the tailgate, but it opens wider than any other SUV in its class. So, it does what it's supposed to do. I just realized how critical the American market is. This car is a hit overseas.
Wife got one few weeks ago. White Calligraphy FWD. Alot of tech for under 50k. Took on trip up HWY-1, 38.2 mpg! Glad we waited for the redesign, knew it was coming, just had to wait a bit. Just a tick over 1000 miles on the ODO.
I am in the market for such a hybrid crossover and my choice is the Santa Fe Hybrid Limited Reasons why include I owned a Tucson Hybrid Limited last year and was very impressed. Smooth, quite efficient power. Almost EV level smoothness. I love the exterior's Land Rover-style over the conservative Highlander, and you can get a very well-equipped Limited for under $45k
I hated the look for the hyundai staria when it first released, ended up liking it. I hated the look of the ioniq 6 when it first released, ended up liking it. I now hate the rear end of this car, I'd be a fool to think this won't also grow on me with time. One thing I like where the Koreans are going lately is that they are bold with their designs. I can accept that it's ugly, because It's a breath of fresh air. They are trying to push the boundaries and on that note, I'm all for it. Certainly not boring which is more that can be said for almost all non Chinese manufacturers right now.
Seen only one so far out here in AZ where Grand Highlanders are everywhere now and think I've seen half a dozen of the new LC + GX...will be interesting to see how year end sales play out.
I recently bought a 24 Santa fe and although I wanted the hybrid, they had steep discounts on the 2.5 turbo and next to nothing on the hybrids. The money I saved made the non hybrid a no brainer. I love it, but I do want different wheels, the calligraphy wheels are a bit excessive and I'd prefer 18 or 19's.
My dealer didnt have the calligraphy hybrid 2025 in the color trim I wanted, so I drove a 2024 2.5. Nice, but the dct issues bother me. Offered a good price, but I'm trying to get them to trade with an out of state dealer for one.
@ the ones I’ve been seeing are from around $49500 to $51400, depending on how many added accessories they have. The 24’s are lower, and will continue to fall in price as they age, the 25’s will depend on demand, supply, and how badly a given dealer is needing to move them.
Hyundai and Kia have done an amazing job in recruitment, brand expansion, clear brand separation and market strategy. And the cars they make now are fantastic. And they are dipping their toes in EV with EV6 and EV9. Stelantis could learn a lot from Koreans
I drove both santa fe is better for smooth driving I tried a lot of different bumps it was impressed. Space wise Also bigger. Only think I don't like exterior design specially rear lamp....
Seeing how many people in the comments HATE the design means Hyundai did it right. They made it for ppl less likely to watch a car review, but curiously will wander to a dealership from advertising.
They’re probably just old people which isn’t surprising since they grew up with different kind of cars where even the “uglier” ones were beautiful. Most believe that only expensive cars are supposed to look good and cars like these go against it. Good thing Hyundai actually leans towards designs for younger people and millennials.
Mechanically. they are about the same. Styling on the Sorento is more traditional for an SUV, maybe even a bit dated. Boxy shape of the SF means noticeably more headroom and space in 2nd and 3rd rows. Driver’s area is more open in SF and less of a cockpit feel.
Hyundai's informational materials say that the curb weight of this bad boy, with all wheel drive, is over 4,500 lbs. I wonder how the turbocharged 1.6 liter engine would handle all that weight going uphill in the Colorado Rockies once the traction battery is depleted. That is my one concern with this vehicle: too heavy. Everything else, I like.
I have the 2024 and it’s not slow as people said. I didn’t try the 0-60 time but taking off from a stop feels normal even with 5 adults onboard. I think the battery helps with the torque.
Just don't buy the DCT non hybrid version .. suddenly pre owned market is filled with 3 months old 2k miles 2024 santa fe as dealers were unable to complete the repair in a decent time due to unavailability of parts for the new car .. the buyers got a brand new santa fe to go through the same problems again while unrepaired cars have been put on auction for next owner to bear the pain .. 3 months and already there are 3 open major recalls on the DCT version.. Nice cars coming out from Hyundai and Kia these days. This looks like the old Ford flex Kia makes one that looks like that too. Only so many different ways you can style a box. This is what people want, SUVs no more sedans.
That has been resolved. It was a software issue. The unfortunate folks whose transmission got damaged are waiting on replacement ones. Mine has been solid since the update.
I like the boxy design and some of the style elements, but am very conflicted on the dog-bone shaped lights. They just aren’t growing on me yet. I suspect the next iteration will be some sort of spider eye, with half on for DRL and all on for actual lights.
Former art student here. Main reason it gives such vibes is because Hyundai designed the increase how tall the lower black sill part is. For someone reason they thought it would look better if some of the door portion is all painted black or is black plastic. This makes the side profile look lower and more pinched. Thus the wagon like design comes out. Personally they shouldnt have done it and left it more body colored. Then it would look more like an explorer
For the USA, they say it's not planned. Apparently they think the S. Korean PHEV isn't quite right for us, so I think they may be working on a more powerful system.
You can't compare the Santa Fe to a huge Nissan Armada and so on. Because it is a fantastic middle of the road SUV. It can't compete with a 3 row LINCOLN for example and to do so is unfair to the brand. What it is, is a great middle of the road SUV with three rows IF NEEDED, for small kids in the back. Yet if you want a competent SUV with extraordinaly fit and finish, no cheap plastics, great comfort, superior drive and quiet, then buy the Santa Fe.
The hybrid system concerns me. Using a small electric motor connected by belt (with a tensioner) to start the motor is a maintenance concern and not as strong a design as Toyota’s system.
My father owned a previous-generation Santa Fe hybrid with the same powertrain. The torque from the electric motors is pretty significant. I would ignore the horsepower numbers and actually test-drive it.
@BTC909 yeah but this redesign adds weight and bulk that takes a second and a half more than the 23 0-60 time. Hyundai knows they have to add more power. They don't even have a plug in this year, when more and more people are buying them, which I can only think is because they know that simply slapping the 22-23 phev setup isn't going to cut it with the extra bulk they added.
@@MaGiKRat420 +350 lbs. over a '23. A boxier shape yet more MPG? Best i've seen on a 23 AWD is 32 MPG. If it's hot outside, 28. The PHEV's didn't sell so i'm not surprised it's gone for '24. 6K more wasn't worth the extra cost.

Guys this is a turbo charged engine that's 1.6 liters. Way too small. Turbos consume oil, eat air filters, are very temperamental about recommended gas and turbos fail. Not to mention the hybrid architecture still uses a traditional belt-driven starter, alternator and AC compressor. All failure points. Toyota standard hybrids are a larger naturally aspirated engine and replace the starter and alternator with lifetime electric motors. Honda does all of the above and goes further with the AC compressor being a lifetime electric motor. Toyota is the bench mark with its e-CVT which is bulletproof. Honda is best-in-class with a larger naturally aspirated engine and direct drive transmission. Also bulletproof and tricked some reviewers into thinking it was a traditional stepped automatic. Kia/Hyundai hybrid architecture is a generation behind. This is a lease only vehicle. Do not own it without extended warranty.
Nope, he came up on an intersection where the Kona was waiting to turn left. He probably thought the guy was moving forward slowly and he was leaving enough space until he realize the Kona wasn't moving. Anyway with so many idiots driving too close why make a car with had to see tail lights?
What the Chrysler 300c is to a Rolls Royce is like what the Santa Fe is to the Range Rover. Even the steering wheel is straight out of a Range Rover. Best form of flattery is imitation I guess? Ill pass on the discount Range Rover especially with that rear end
@@hjc2150 Not a fan of Ford, Chevy, Some subarus and GM either. Unfortunetely, Hyundai/Kia's ongoing oil consumption and engine failure issues has turned me right off the brand. Hopefully they've figured their $**t out. Many Hyundai/Kia owners have been stuck with expens8ve paper weights...

So you mean rx500h hybrid set up is not reliable since it is essentially the same as santa fe (2.4t with 6speed auto) ?
AC Compessor is electric motor driven and this has a lower compession engine that is rated to use regular fuel.
I just saw a Hyundai Kona almost get rear- ended because of the low taillights.
That means that driver was too close.
that was the aggressive driver
Nope, he came up on an intersection where the Kona was waiting to turn left. He probably thought the guy was moving forward slowly and he was leaving enough space until he realize the Kona wasn't moving. Anyway with so many idiots driving too close why make a car with had to see tail lights?
@@manthony225 again that was an aggressive driver.
Love it
Great except for the rear end
Back looks like a Geo Metro hatch. 😂
It's a little big for my liking but I'm sure I can get used to it...the $700 a month lease is what's unforgivable
Curious how the real world fuel economy will turn out. That motor's spinning about 2200 rpm at 70mph.
3:44 you made this incredibly confusing.
Put this drivetrain in the Santa Cruz!
Hyundai went 3 steps back with this Santa Fe redesign
It looks good.
Love the new look!
What the Chrysler 300c is to a Rolls Royce is like what the Santa Fe is to the Range Rover. Even the steering wheel is straight out of a Range Rover. Best form of flattery is imitation I guess? Ill pass on the discount Range Rover especially with that rear end
For years the Cherokee was ridiculed and look at the market today 🙄
And for 2026 they will move the rear taillights up
why? it looks good. No need to change it till 2027
@@darkivaz-aaa1145 it’s hideous
@@magnoliap5824 deal with it.
Awesome
Should've parked the other way so the sun didn't shine in
I'm okay with the looks, but the wave of Hyundai recalls, QA, and reliability issues is a hard pass for me.
Not that many. How about Ford,Chevy, Subaru, and a lot of GM stuff
Oh i forgot Hyundai has a 10year 100K warranty, not the others
@@hjc2150 Not a fan of Ford, Chevy, Some subarus and GM either. Personally, Id rather own a vehicle that has no need for a 10 year, 100k warranty outside of typical maintenance rather than having to use the warranty frequently for things that should not fail or possible kill you in the first couple of years of ownership.
@@HLsteppa Ford recalled 3.7 million cars in 2024 Honda 2.5 million cars and they only have a 3 year warranty. GM line had many problems too
when the paint comes off you get a H PATTERN, when the motor breaks you get an H PATTERN on the repair bill
What is going through the minds of these companies, why are they pushing these ridiculous low-profile tires on “off road” vehicles?
Santa Fe, Santa Cruz, Santa Claus
Regular gas or premium gas? If latter, then no thank you
Regular gas
Looks like they put the primer and forgot to put the gloss
FORD FLEX !!!
That rear 🤢🤮
Theft deterrent.
Unfortunetely, Hyundai/Kia's ongoing oil consumption and engine failure issues has turned me right off the brand. Hopefully they've figured their $**t out. Many Hyundai/Kia owners have been stuck with expens8ve paper weights...
I've heard this but not understanding. I have a 5 yr old Palisade. 54k mileage. Changed brake pads and all 4 tires. Stretching d oil change to 7500 mi. No issue.
I have only owned Hyundai products since 2004 (11) never burned oil and NO warranty problems
The front looks alright but the rear looks horrible. This is a design that’s definitely not going to age well.
Skip the first year of this. They have already recalled the regular gas version.
I hate the santa fe logo. Love the vehicle overall though.
This vs sienna
it's Hybrid a car maker the Cop out on making EV I can't ever be happy any car maker going backwards
That makes zero sense
Oh man, the back end of this new body design is terrible - it's like they were coming to the design deadline and rushed it. It looks ESPECIALLY worse in the copper color.
Reminds me of the back of a Geo Metro.
Transmission will break down within 1200 miles
This is the only Santa Fe you should buy.
The transmission in this hybrid version is a traditional 6 speed automatic with a torque converter and has proven to be pretty reliable unlike the DCT transmission used in the non hybrid models
Sound like v6 Toyota to me.
Stay far away
19,000 miles and it shifts beautifully ----NO PROBLEMS
Why would anyone want a white interior? Have fun cleaning
Styling is subjective since it does a lot of things very well
This is the best hybrid suv in the market
Styling is subjective full stop. I personally think it looks pretty decent.
I do too. I love the way it looks. And if the calligraphy hybrid came in fwd that would be the perfect version to get
@naveenthemachine wouldn't FWD make it worse, tho, since u like to bash certain automakers for being FWD
@@normanli7085 this isn’t a luxury car. It doesn’t cost 70-100K
It’s fine if it’s fwd. luxury car makers being fwd and sharing everything from the architecture to powertrains is not okay the more expensive a car gets
@@normanli7085 yeah I agree, especially if we’re talking about the mentioned top Calligraphy model which is like $50k+ and I feel would be let down to just be paired with FWD.
I know it's supposed to be the same size as a highlander, but my eyes tell me different. I just can't comprehend the actual length that I see on paper
Highlander is several inches longer and 1” wider.
Why did the designer give-up? It’s a horrendous design, especially the rear!
So what’s diffferent… this review is the same as everyone else’s 24 review
Hyundai didn't have the hybrid model to test when we last drove it. Only a few folks that drove the new Santa Fe were able to sample the hybrid later in the month of the first launch.
Ah gotcha. I take it back. Was just hoping to see if anything changed but it doesn’t look like it did. You did a great job.
Think the front and sides look nice and different but the back is just plain ugly in my opinion
This isn't 2025
