  • The weather is clear and we are leaving Cape Town. It was an amazing visit, but we are going back to were we feel most at home, back to the mountains! We are heading towards Ceres and Werner had a nice route planned with some gravel roads, but one after the other seem to have issues... With a changed plan, we are heading towards Bain's Kloof Pass and how lucky are we that our plans changed! Stunning scenery, amazing roads and the best way to continue with our Journey.

Arguably the best scenic ride I’ve ever seen on TH-cam.

Good choice going through Bainskloof, it's definitely one of the best drives here in the Cape.

Must agree with you! When we talk about tar roads this is very high on one of our top 10! Thank you for watching along!

Stunning ride. You are for sure not that afraid of heights to ride Bainskloof. I can't even ride the R44 from Pringle Bay to Gordon's Bay. Like your new haircut Werner. Safe travels and looking forward to the next episode.

We both sometimes get a little “whooo” moment now and then! But the beauty of these places are just to good not to do them! 😁 haha! Thank you! Cissy has become pretty good in cutting my hair on the road! 🤣 life as a full time traveler! 🤣

For camping try Matroosberg reserve, they have lovely camping on the farm. If you cant get hold of them, just ride upto the gate and reception. They generally should have place. They are just outside town.

We did phone them but they where fully booked, for some reason we can't remember but there where very little acc available. If I remember correctly there was a sports function on or something.

The pass was named after the road engineer Andrew Geddes Bain with the use of convict labour. Built in 1854. (according to Google :-)

The tar roads to Ceres are all great anyway, once you are out of the city

We heard afterwards that the gravel road was being worked on and we would have had too turn around anyway. But man did we enjoy the mountain pass!! It was truly awesome!
