What would be your ideal space to live, large or small? When our kids were small and lived here, I enjoyed the space but now I can't wait to move to somewhere smaller. Not long to wait, woo hoo! Are you decluttering with me today? 👋🏼😁
We just moved to a new house nearly double the size of our last one. I miss my smaller house! Any home improvements you want to do are more affordable when the house is smaller 🙂
Definitely small. I really wouldn’t want to be living in a big old house. Luckily ours is relatively small. However we would consider going even smaller in the future 🎉🎉🎉
I would love to downsize to a smaller house. However, my husband hangs on to everything 😂. I find a smaller house so much easier to keep clean and organized.
Our big home is working for us right now but I look forward to downsizing when the time comes. I have so much perfume - I’m slowly giving them away but I got 3 more bottles as gifts for my Birthday this month. I think I can’t run away from perfume 😂 my family will have to bury me underneath the bottles
Your comment about your old journals was timely. An old friend and I have been decluttering for the last year or so and we were just talking about old journals. We agreed that the cringey ones are meant to be released! No need to revisit things that make us feel bad about ourselves!! A wee pat on your back for your progress and inspiration to all of us! Rah rah rah 🎉
Today I’m finding inspiration from the fact you have been doing fly lady for years and are still declutterring. Thanks for always sharing your real life with us as it gives us the support to get there little by little.
Your mom had a lovely style. I remember your videos of your dining out while visiting her. You were both so elegant. Cheers to all of the memories you have of your lovely times together🍷xo
Been watching for a while but never commented…my dad passed over the summer and it definitely changes your perspective. There is so much we hold on to but we just don’t need it. Appreciate your positive attitude and inspiration. We had a flood in our home from a pipe bursting in 2007, since then I have kept our inventory to a minimum. It’s so nice!! Thank you for your videos.
Loving this series. It’s so wonderful to see your attitude towards new life stages. I’m not an empty nester but as my teens get older I’m seeing this time of life coming sooner and get so discouraged with how many people just say “the years go so fast” and other maudlin things. We raise kids to be adults and though it is hard to see them leave the nest it’s nice to have someone demonstrate a more reasonable approach. You’re not unsentimental, and it’s clear you love your family and are close, but you also have a refreshing attitude towards new life stages. Thanks Diane, I’ve enjoyed your videos since 2019 and continue to do so. 😊
You always inspire me to keep moving along with my housework and decluttering. I am newly retired and your videos keep me engaged and offer structure that was missing from my day. Such a blessing to have your guidance, Diane. ❤
I'm unpacking a box from March 2009. Had to move while being very depressed. Your positivity helps, getting Better but still fighting (fighting alone takes many more yrs to recover).
Thank you, Diane for all the encouragement and real life you give us, good and bad days, especially as you are not sponsored. That in itself is so refreshing in this world of 'money'. I can't pretend I'm a routine person but so love checking in with you and this community and to my surprise I have decluttered my wardrobe and am currently sitting typing this with my morning coffee and a couple of candles!
Dear Diane, you’re doing so well with your decluttering. Isn’t it amazing that you can declutter once then go back again and find more to declutter… go you 🎉
This week I used our local Buy Nothing group on facebook and got many large items out of my basement- a dining table, six chairs, a wooden sleigh bed, and a clothes rack. All gone to new homes and lots more open space for me!
We had new counters installed in our kitchen yesterday. When I put the drawers back today, I went through them all and was able to declutter a few things. Now I need to go through the cabinets.
Thank you for the motivation! My husband and I of 42 years have been decluttering our garage a little bit at a time this month ( otherwise overwhelming). Still have a ways to go but we’re making progress. Woo Hoo 🎉🎉🎉
Hello from Canada: I am always amazed by your positive attitude. Just recently I had my place painted and am living in chaos. I also suffer from SADS and am having a difficult time moving forward. Watching your videos always helps to motivate me. I am also trying hard to include self-care into my daily routines. Good luck with your decluttering.
One bin bag of old towels going to the local kennels, one full of bedding to be donated and one with bedding and towels which need throwing. Feels great to open the cupboard and have a clear view.Thank you for the encouragement.
Applause, applause, Diane. I am so happy and excited for you. I was just reading about many new developments in Copenhagen. I am looking forward to seeing your new life in a new place. What I learned, was that furniture that I thought would fit, did not. Spend a year in your new place, and by the end of the year, you will know what you really need, and you will be able to make better decisions than if you attempt it right at the beginning. It is a strange thing, but it has proven true, no matter where I have lived. You have to "live," in it, and it will tell you what the space needs. No matter how much you get rid of, you will be letting go of more, over the next year in your new space. Enjoy the process. Don't worry about making mistakes - you will, that is part of the transition. Wahooooo. Patting you on the back, young woman.
Right away love the comments about the scales and how you never use them at home! It seems very common here to weigh often at home for nonmedical reasons. Love the video!
I understand how much you looking forward your brother an SIL will come over as you both have a rough time and it’s nice you can spend some time together catching up memories etc. The bedroom is ready ❤ How lovely you can help others with the furniture you’re downsizing I decluttered a cabinet in my bedroom in the meantime. Thank you again for your motivation
I love the beautiful pictures of you with your mom, so sorry for her passing and very thankful for her life. Every blessing to you and your family. Thank you for continuing to help all of us around the world to minimize out stuff and maximize out time and experiences.
I have kept planners for many many years as our "memories of events". I include memorable events in the planner, on a weekly basis, from details from my diary, where I do my detailed planning = monthly + weekly + daily. The diary can then be recycled/shredded during the January of the following year.
I’m doing less now because of the holidays. I am continuing to help a friend do a whole house declutter and she is enjoying all the new space we are making.
You definitely have earned a pat on the back, so sending one your way! I thought I'd decluttered my closet, yet every time I walk into it, I find something else to donate 😄 You are so inspiring. Thank you 😊
Enjoying watching you mindfully sort through your belongings and talking out load about the rationale for keeping or parting with an item. I have been building decluttering “relationships” with my sister-in-laws and a brother; we check in on each other for project status checks and encouragement. I turned 67 today and I have so much more to sort through to get to where I want to be.
I'm continuing to declutter as much as I can as the holidays approach. It's nice to watch your videos and feel like I'm decluttering with a friend. Thank you!
I’ve lived in medium and small homes over 5 decades. Now that I have a medium empty nest, I’m slowly declutterring. My children are young adults and have their belongings and bedrooms here still. There are many items to sell and I’ll need to hire help for this. I’m declutterring almost daily this year. I appreciate your inspiration. You are my champagne of motivation🤣
Well done, Diane! You are so good and brave of letting go. I love your uncluttered guest room’s chest of drawers! I haven’t decluttered in awhile and watching this video, I am inspired. 🤍💙
Unplugged my drain yesterday 💪 due to having limited energy had most of the chaos I created left to clean up today. Did so with you in the background! Really satisfied with the end result :)
Thank you for showing us that you are decluttering your calendars/journals/date books. I needed that inspiration to declutter my journals/calendars. I think I have looked back on my journals twice in about 30 years, so I can definitely say that I can dump them. I appreciate your time and advice.
Thanks for the encouragement, Diane! There is a coffeeshop in my neighborhood in Brooklyn called Konditori and today I learned from you how to properly pronounce it 😁
This episode was inspiring! I’ve started on the bookshelves, one at a time, clean it and put only books back I really enjoy. Slowly coming along, but that does not bother me.
We are about to move in with my daughter and her family as my husband retires in 2 weeks. I've purged our current home by 50% and we are really enjoying living with less. I'm now doing second sweeps through each room and finding it much easier this time to let go of things that won't fit into our future lifestyle.
I have moved three times since my big down size ten years ago. I had a major declutter for the past year since lost hubs a year ago. I went through the pantry last week, and washed the shelves. I had a big bag of food to donate. I gave my small wardrobe a refresh and replaced six tee shirts and one pair of shoes that I just dropped off this morning. Objects of different categories leave daily, nothing pressing. Was fun to share your declutter!
I really like your videos and your approach to TH-cam, avoiding all the commercial sponsorship/plugging etc. I tried DYT based on how well it works for you but couldn’t really get into it myself. Same goes for FlyLady - it just doesn’t seem to mesh with me for some reason, but I appreciate that you only share what you genuinely use and like. I also love how you’re building a supportive community and sharing your real life friends with us.
Hi Diane, thank you for your inspiration. I decluttered my dog's things, there was so much from when he was still a puppy. Now we have an empty box❤an more space
We purged our board games and some dvds on the weekend. We’re getting ready to replace our carpet on two floors and it’s like packing to move without moving! 😬 Might as well get rid of some things that are no longer needed or used. 👏 Have a great day! 🇨🇦
Thanks for today’s video! Thought I’d take a pass this week since the fly lady system has our bathrooms in great shape and our guest bedroom/bathroom is minimalist. But I couldn’t just sit on the couch while you worked so I popped my head into the guest bedroom and bathroom and found loads of small bits to do. Thanks for the motivation!
Originally I thought I was too busy for decluttering this week but I got stuck in the basement for 10 minutes waiting on the dryer to finish to swap the laundry. I looked for trash and finished clearing out all sorts of things. Found the leather wipes I was going to buy some Wednesday off my anti procrastination list and found the buffing stone to deep clean our basement toilet. I did the upstairs primary ages ago and stored the extra stone for the basement (Pittsburgh Potty as they are called it’s not nice). So I got 2 full shelves cleared off, moved the towels to the new under washer storage our machines have, deep cleaned the toilet, conditioned the couches upstairs and I did my LOL. All in about 1 hour total 15 minutes at a time!
Thank you again, this week I remember you saying in a past video on decluttering’ what fantasy life are you hanging onto’ or something like that. I used that to help me in letting go of some large cooking vessels. Just me and hubby, it’s not my season of life to cook for a crowd. 🌸
You are such an inspiration Diane…I declutter on a fairly regular basis..we will be in our big house for several more years but I’m always thinking about whether I would want to move something to our next smaller place and if the answer is no then it goes! I keep a box inside my bedroom door for charity donations…just dropped two boxes this weekend and felt great! I just want things around that I love and use!
Yes, you lit a fire under me today! Bathroom and scarves for me today. My scarves keep making it through my declutters and many of them I just don’t wear. Thanks Diane.
Your guest room looks very cozy and inviting! Today was a tiring day for me so I just relaxed with your video and now I will do some filing. I am not decluttering anything this week. I just need a break from it.
You do such a good job and I prefer all of your videos that you do yourself over the others that they have help. Yours are just so real and I connect with you just being real and yourself !
Love water bottles, got 1 in my lap right now. Ours don't have experiation dates. And we were always trained to make sure we don't pour bubbling, boiling hot water into them but rather to wait until the hotpot has at least stop bubbling. Thankfully, they've worked very well for many years.
Recently I decluttered 2 chests of drawers from my guest rooms. They were leftovers from our kids childhoods and I had managed to refill them over the years. My sons now in their 40s took one each for their own homes. Habitat for Humanity will pick up such donated items in my town.
Thank you for the encouragement! I am just getting back to the Flylady system after a loooong crash and burn. Your energy and enthusiasm are contagious. I’m excited to declutter today and be back into my routines. Much appreciation ❤
Cleaning out clothes...I have held onto so many since I gained weigh and now letting them go. Still wanting to get the weigh off...but these things were messing with my mind...making me feel bad. Tk u Diane for showing us how to do it❣️

Thank you. I’ve watched you for years and always enjoy our “time” together. You’ve helped me in so many ways. Sad to hear about your mother passing.
Dear Diane.
You have been next to me the whole morning, and in that time, I have been cleaning and decluttering. Thank you for your motivation ❤.

So sorry for your loss, Ashlie 🙏😊
Luxury goods are fashion, fakes are also fashion but cheaper. I like fashion, and I like cheaper, so I chose *suluxy* .

👍you are my first choice influencer!
Wow, thank you, Janice!
Been watching for years and I am always encouraged.
Yay, thank you, Jennifer! 🎉
Thank you for all your time and energy you put into your videos. They bring me a lot of joy and you are helping so many people! 😊
We had new counters installed in our kitchen yesterday. When I put the drawers back today, I went through them all and was able to declutter a few things. Now I need to go through the cabinets.
It is our plan to visit Copenhagen for Valentines in 2025. ❤ I am very much looking forward to it. 🎉
A pat on the back and a hug from me. Always love the time we send together. Thank you!
THANK YOU! 🖐😃
Thank you for the motivation! My husband and I of 42 years have been decluttering our garage a little bit at a time this month ( otherwise overwhelming). Still have a ways to go but we’re making progress. Woo Hoo 🎉🎉🎉
Decluttering several small frames that don’t have pictures in them. Thanks for the inspiration Diane!
I really appreciate you walking us through your thought process when decluttering. So helpful!
The chest of drawers from your father-in-law is absolutely gorgeous! You’re definitely inspiring me to continue creating the home I need ❤
Love watching you declutter. It always makes me want to spend a few minutes decluttering too.
Thanks Diane ❤

Diane, you always inspire! Thank you so much, exactly what I needed to watch today.
Here’s a “wee pat on the back” for you~ thank you so much for your joy filled inspiration 💖
Thank you! ❤️❤️
I've been decluttering steadily for about two weeks now. Largely due to your encouragement!
Well done, Alicia!
It’s always so satisfying to see stuff leaving.
One bin bag of old towels going to the local kennels, one full of bedding to be donated and one with bedding and towels which need throwing. Feels great to open the cupboard and have a clear view.Thank you for the encouragement.
The puppies will love the blankets! Such a great idea to think about the local animal shelters!

Thanks for the decluttering video. Your Luxembourg notebooks have inspired me to let go of my University books from 1994! 😂
You definitely have earned a pat on the back, so sending one your way! I thought I'd decluttered my closet, yet every time I walk into it, I find something else to donate 😄 You are so inspiring. Thank you 😊

I'm pulling significant pages out of calenders and then attaching them into a large notebook. Years 1972 to 2000 accompnished!
Well done! Keep it cozy with a hot chocolate while you work, Ingmari!
I’ve lived in medium and small homes over 5 decades. Now that I have a medium empty nest, I’m slowly declutterring. My children are young adults and have their belongings and bedrooms here still.

Sending a huge pat on the back. You always inspire me to get up off my bahookie and keep moving forward. Thank you so much 💕
My pleasure, Allison!
Thank you Diane - your Fly Lady videos always inspire me to clean when I’m just not feeling up to it xxx
I'm also (trying) to declutter ahead of a downsizing. It's hard to keep the motivation on your own but watching/listening to you definitely helps x
Hi Diane..You make everything look so easy.Getting started is the hardest.Take care b safe .Go You...
You always inspire me to declutter, even when I think I’ve finished, I always come across something that’s slipped past.
Well done, Diane! You are so good and brave of letting go. I love your uncluttered guest room’s chest of drawers! I haven’t decluttered in awhile and watching this video, I am inspired. 🤍💙
You can do it!
Thanks for the inspiration! I’m going to search the guest bedroom for items to declutter ! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for taking us along on your new journey. 💙
A breathe of fresh air you are! Off to tackle my bathroom cupboards. Thanks.
Unplugged my drain yesterday 💪 due to having limited energy had most of the chaos I created left to clean up today. Did so with you in the background! Really satisfied with the end result :)

I organize my second swap party yesterday and it was a great success. You are quite an inspiration to me.❤
I'm so glad, Marianne! Hope you all enjoyed yourselves!
Listened as I peeled some late season apples from a local orchard. Putting on applesauce now and inspired to declutter!
I’m at about year 9 of being highly decluttered. It feels so very good. I love living smaller.
Thank you, Diane! I always feel so much better after watching your videos, this one included. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
I enjoy your videos and positivity! Thanks for sharing your journey.
Thanks for watching, Sarah!
I love your decluttering videos! You are so encouraging. I’m off to cleaning the main bathroom and looking in the cabinet to see what can go! 💐
Hi Diane, thank you for your inspiration. I decluttered my dog's things, there was so much from when he was still a puppy. Now we have an empty box❤an more space
Most definitely are we out here, watching you faithfully 🌸. You are a delight!
Pat on the back for you…..for giving me the inspiration to declutter. Such a lovely feeling. Thank you, Diane 🏴❤️
We purged our board games and some dvds on the weekend. We’re getting ready to replace our carpet on two floors and it’s like packing to move without moving! 😬 Might as well get rid of some things that are no longer needed or used. 👏 Have a great day! 🇨🇦

I’m giving you a pat on the back Diane, great work. Thank you 😀
You are such an inspiration Diane…I declutter on a fairly regular basis..we will be in our big house for several more years but I’m always thinking about whether I would want to move something to our next smaller place and if the answer is no then it goes! I keep a box inside my bedroom door for charity donations…just dropped two boxes this weekend and felt great! I just want things around that I love and use!
I’m mopping the kitchen floor. Thanks Diane!
LOVE my hot water bottle!! Good to know it has an expiration date; don't we all?!!
Decluttered many bottles of nail polish today 🎉 1 box less in the bathroom because the remover and cotton pads now fit into the same box ❤
Go you!
Yes, you lit a fire under me today! Bathroom and scarves for me today. My scarves keep making it through my declutters and many of them I just don’t wear. Thanks Diane.
Yay, SNAP on the scarves, Gail! Go you!
Thank you so much for your encouragement! You really do bring perspective to making decluttering so much easier. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Your guest room looks very cozy and inviting! Today was a tiring day for me so I just relaxed with your video and now I will do some filing. I am not decluttering anything this week. I just need a break from it.
Great job! You have inspired me to organize my shoes in a box with zip cover that you showed in a video a few weeks ago. ❤
Wonderful, Marcia!
yes, I was saying "cool"! So enjoying this deeper declutter with you...
Thank you Diane!
Welcome!
You do such a good job and I prefer all of your videos that you do yourself over the others that they have help. Yours are just so real and I connect with you just being real and yourself !
Thank you so much - I appreciate your kind words! 😊

Working in my spare room which is also my craft and sewing room. Decluttering items from it.
Did a quick declutter as I listened. Not much but 7 items out of the wardrobe. And a cake in the bread maker. Im taking that win.
Loved this video!❤️
Glad you liked it!!
Thank you for the encouragement! I am just getting back to the Flylady system after a loooong crash and burn. Your energy and enthusiasm are contagious. I’m excited to declutter today and be back into my routines. Much appreciation ❤
