    I have the pink one and honestly its my favourite sounding ocarina that I own. It sounds so nice and is less airy than some of my others.

      Hi!!! Yesterday I received the same ocarina, before that I used a cheap one and not very high quality. I'm not a professional at all and most likely I'm making a mistake, but can you tell me if it's normal for the sound to be a little dull on high notes? Do you need to exhale harder on high notes?

      @@_cheesy_breezy_ The higher notes you blow a little harder with the cold air and the low with hor air. You can blow on your arm to feel it. I recommend to listen to a slow music and try to sound the same and listen to it a lot if you are doing a good song. Try to record yourself too

      @@_cheesy_breezy_ my TNG soprano is amazing, I guess this one is good too. You can use this video as a example in how you should sound. Blow long notes to get used to the sound of the instrument, the amount of air needed to every note, try articulation too, people don't talk about too much but it's very important in wood instrument. Ocarina is a very easy instrument to learn but almost everybody learn alone with videos and I see a lot of people who don't get a good sound. Just because the instrument is easy to learn it doesn't mean it will play by itself, take care with the details and have fun :)

    After owning my ocarina for almost 24 hours, i have now made my entire family hate Zelda's lullaby.
    But that was the best $30 i ever spent.

    I just got the pink rose ocarina and it sounds fantastic! I went from the 6 hole ocarina of time ocarina from songbird to this and I have to say it is a breeze to pick up and play. It sounds amazing and it's fun to play. I decided to get this ocarina because I already know I kove playing the instrument a ton, but I'm atill a beginner and I knew this ocarina was going to be one that would start out easy to play but have a ton of room for me to expand into. Why get a beginner ocarina when I already know how much fun the 6 hole ocarina is and how much I love olaying it, even though I'm a beginner. I play tbe piano and been doing it for years as well as the conga drums, and I get the same wonderful feeling when I play an ocarina. I've tried playing the guitar but it just doesn't do it for me and doesn't give me that special feeling, so I already knew I was going to be playing my new ocarina for years to come. I'm at the point where I can figure out most songs pretty easily, but it can take me a while to perfect them.

    I practice and play with AC 12 holes ceramic ocarinas from Luna Celta. It’s a mexican ocarina maker and his ocarinas are of good quality, well tuned, good sound and beautiful design. Thank you for your videos, they’re useful and nice. Good job 👍🏻

    I've shipped ocarinas in from Asia before and will admit that it was stressful. I got a plastic bass c from Noble Ocarinas, but shipping cost $50. All listings for it in the U.S. were $170 which is $100 more than noble sells it for, so I saved $50, but it took like a month to get my order placed and then a few weeks for it to be delivered. I had to use a shipping agency.

    • @AndyCormierYT
      @AndyCormierYT  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've only been part of one order from Asia (Ocabanda did a group order from Noble in Korea). The ocarina prices are so low, but the shipping is insane. Group orders are the way to go when buying direct from Asia, if you can!

    • @TheBinchoutan

      How do you like the plastic bass? I was thinking about getting that one.

    • @marymoocow1276
      @marymoocow1276 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBinchoutan I really like the shape and the ergonomics of it. Compared to the plastic bass by STL it's a million times more comfortable to play (the shape of STL's hurt my pinky all the time). It takes a lot of air to play, but once you get the breathing down it has a really full, pure tone. I think the highest notes on it can sound a little rough in a way that's hard to describe. They're not squeaky in any way, but the highest 2 notes are a tiny bit unpleasant. That's super common with twelve holes though.

    • @marymoocow1276
      @marymoocow1276 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBinchoutan And it's super convenient for taking places. If you're looking for durability, it's great. I have not dropped it, but it looks and feels indestructable. If you were wondering how it compares to the STL plastic bass, the sub holes both work while STL's has just one that does not really work. The STL has a somewhat airy but really warm and cheerful tone. The noble bass has no problem with fingerprints or scratches showing up. The noble is much larger and requires more air [and subsequent practice]. Both instruments are good. If you were wondering how it compares to any ceramic basses, I don't have the experience to make a comparison.

    • @TheBinchoutan
      @TheBinchoutan ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marymoocow1276 thanks so much for responding! I have a ceramic bass on its way to me, but I was thinking about getting the plastic one to practice outside or take places, even though it's quite large. I wasn't a big fan of the STL one by the looks of it, even though it's a good price. I like the sleekness of the noble. I'll have to keep it on my list for future Ocarina purchases! Thanks again!

    Hey Andy, I just got my first (not cheap Amazon) ocarinas. I know you say don't start with a soprano, but that's the one that came first. My alto came about a week later. They are both very quality ocs. I LOVE the soprano, but I am having trouble with the alto. I got the Concerto Alto C from songbird (stein branded) and all of the higher notes, C and above, are airy, weak, and just plain don't sound good. I am about to return it when I remembered hearing about acute bend. Do you think that might be the only issue? If so, do you have any videos explaining this method? Thanks in advance!

    • @AndyCormierYT
      @AndyCormierYT  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oftentimes people have issues in the high notes because of blowing too much-the acute bend is a slight bend at your core to restrict airflow (basically gently flex your core and slightly lean forward, hinging at the abs), but an alternative would be to experiment using *less* air at high notes

    • @shanedulrich
      @shanedulrich ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AndyCormierYT thank you Andy! I'll try that as well and see how it goes. I was just so disappointed that the soprano came so naturally and alto did not. Especially since alto is the typical recommended starting point. So far the only challenge I have on soprano is finger placement accuracy cuz those teeny tiny holes be so close together!

      Alto C is a good start as it's pretty much in the middle of the staff. If you truly want to play any song, and not transpose it, you'd probably need a triple or quadruple. Songs vary so much in key.
