My 20s were trash, so I was thrilled to turn 30. I turn 34 this year and I feel SO much better about myself than I ever have. More confidence, less caring about what other people think. Therapy has helped. I've gotten so tired of other people's expectations for me, I've started doing shit JUST for me, nobody else. I hang out with my 80-old-aunt on a regular basis; she's in good physical health and mental health. When I hear people die in their 70s I'm like, wait, they could have had some really good years left! The sort of fear-mongering about getting older is ridiculous. I promise it gets easier if you just kinda let yourself exist without letting the external BS get through. Yeah, it is hard, but it's worth working on. I tell people I'm not anti-aging, I'm pro-aging. 😎
@@rdpsysium7340 i feel very similar! my 20s have been a nightmare and im glad to leave them behind im finally settling into life, mental health is the best its been and figuring out who i am and what i want. im not afraid of physically aging or anything like that its more so knowing that im getting older and that means my parents are going to get older and eventually die and so will i. i never even considered that when i was younger. i didnt think id live past 20. its things like that and feeling like i waisted a lot of time. im just about to graduate highschool this month. i know its all about perspective ive only been fully coherent for like 20 years i have so much time left but its hard to shake the feeling. i just kind of wish everyone could live forever and capitalism didnt eat us alive. therapy would 100% be helpful 😅

The talk about age around 12:00 feels so validating for me. As someone who didn't do so well in highschool, it really does feel like if you don't have a great highschool life (great grades, great friendgroup, a relationship yada yada), it really feels like you're gonna have a bad future never attaining satisfaction again. The emphasis on youth and having to do everything is so overwhelming for me, and as an autistic person, it can be hard to attain some things. "Tips on how to write women? I've been having a lot of trouble." "Just write them as you do men pretty much, yknow there still human" "What if there girly tho" - conversation I had on Discord
I always have given that advice as well. Write the character as neither or how you'd write a male & then revise to female after it's all written. It's one thing if the book is heavily going into female only experiences (periods, pregnancy, etc), but most of these writings have nothing to do with that. Heck, they can't even do that correctly & often leave out the "messy" parts of being female, as if women are born hairless, no periods, boobs that have separate physics from the rest of the world, etc.

Love your rant about aging. I try really hard to instead of saying like “we’re so old” to be like “we’ve become real adults!” Or “we’re such grown ups” because I’m 30. I’m not old, but I do love not being 18 anymore.
my favorite part of this video is the words emily uses for women's body parts: virginia, down under, southern border, nepals, glee tourists, fun bags, honkers, bazingas, vaginyay, puppies, tatas

I get what you mean on the grape vs. raisin situation when someone is in late 20s it's come up a lot. I don't thank people when they say I look young because it seems weird, but I don't correct them too much. They say "Oh, it says you're 28 and you just look younger" when they scan my ID and I respond "Okay, well I was born when I was born" or "I hear that a lot, but that's just my age" I understand that people value being young but it's so weird to experience .
I had an older man recently ask me how old I was and when I said 28 he started complimenting me on how young I look and I had to fight not to say "yeah, because I AM young". I get he ment it as a compliment but also like, dude I'm not even to my 30's yet I sure HOPE I look young.
Am I the only one who never saw the "aged as the fine wine" comment as implication that someone is old? For me it's like "oh wow, they somehow managed to become even more beautiful with time"
the part about graduating college and everyone around you going "omg were so old now" is so true😭😭 like all of my friends turning 22 and thinking they're elderly like guys??? were such babies cmon
DO NOT GET ME STARTED on the physical appearances in books in general, gender of the authors aside, because the beauty standard is not only prevalent in movies and on social media but I see it in books to, mainly romance novels. The authors will yap on page after page about having 'wide eyes' 'flat stomachs' 'round ass' 'perky tits' 'small nose' 'high cheekbones' 'full lips' 'heart-shaped face' 'long hair' and I'm over it because it's perpetuating a stereotype that only if you look like a supermodel, will you fall in love which is totally untrue. A really good book that does criticise this is 'Jane Eyre' by Charlotte Bronte which was written as proof that you don't need to a 10 to find a happy and heathy relationship. This is in no way a criticism of describing appearances but there doesn't need to be such a focus on it and certain characteristics as it takes away from the characters personality and the depth of a relationship. I just want an FMC to look realistic. 😂😂 (Sorry for the rant but I loved this video)
@@b19wing_inslowmotion Yeah but the relationship at it's core was founded from love and back in the 19th century, marrying an older man would have been acceptable.

But to be fair, when I was their age, there was a guy living in my dorm in his 30s who was essentially Gandalf to us. I think it's just a viewpoint a lot of young people have that usually goes away with time that youth is defined as
11:35 - THIS! I can't believe how many 30-year olds think their life is over. To women AND men, I'm like "Remember how we're the arrested development generation? Our lives haven't even STARTED yet!" Don't want to have kids? Then there's literally no point in complaining about your age. Even if you ARE considering your "biological clock", just remember that modern technological, medical, and social advances means being in your 30's does not prevent you at all from being able to safely PLAY "HATOFUL BOYFRIEND"!!!

im turning 29 in a few months and while i know my life has barely begun im terrified of getting older and your attitude about the aging bit put things in perspective a bit for me. it doesnt hit the same when an older person says im still so young and have so much life left but someone around my age being positive about aging is nice and youre so fucking funny 😂

😂😂
(Sorry for the rant but I loved this video)
Didn't Jane Eyre marry a dude that was 30 years older than her though???
@@b19wing_inslowmotion Yeah but the relationship at it's core was founded from love and back in the 19th century, marrying an older man would have been acceptable.
