    as a male i couldn’t agree more with all of the stuff you mentioned, i hate masculine societal norms and the constant pressure to never appear feminine or gay, what if i am, what’s the problem with that, why is it so horrendous if seen in such a way. i could go on and on about why i wish being a male sometimes wasn’t so hard, however, PLEASE note i am not at all trying to degrade how bad women have it. why can’t we all just use our minds.

    "A man who fears being seen as feminine- is a man who fears being treated the way he treats women."
    -Farida D.
    edit: i posted this when i was 15. some mistakes were made. this quote touches on only some aspects of men being feminine and completely ignores that society, in general, sucks. it ridicules men for wanted feminine things beyond what makes sense. this quote focuses only on the "girlish things are inferior thus if i do them, im inferior" people. i was completely unaware of a lot of aspects of, well, life. i came out of the closet a while back and soon realized so much more about people trying to be themselves. i apologize if this hurt someone, thank you to everyone who rebuttled me and called me dumb and on drugs in the replies. im a better person thanks to you now.

    Word of advice, i had that problem where i felt that im not fully a man, i doubted myself for a long time. And i probably had it way harder because I'm from a third world arab country, so excessive masculinity is a must here. That's why everywhere i went i kept seeing men acting strong, using strong language, treating women like objects because it somehow makes you manlier i think... i can never understand them but anyways. There was no escape, at some point i had to feel like garbage and i ended hating myself and seeing myself less and less of a man. But guess what, two years ago in the beach where everyone loves to show off how masculine they are, a girl drowned, and every "man" kept watching. I didn't hesitate one bit and went instantly to help her (I'm not bragging or anything) it all worked out and after i brought her back to the shore lifeguards came and took care of her. The problem is that i drank too much water trying to help her because she basically kept trying to climb on me since she was in extreme panic, so right after i brought her back to safety i started throwing up and shortly after i passed out. And then something great happened, i kept hearing stuff in the ambulance, it was the medic telling to hang tight and that I'm a real man. Ofc i didn't care at that time but i kept thinking about it afterwards... i am definitely a real man and i don't care what these people think of me. These people are so insecure and they can't stop hiding behind their masculinity, i got nothing to hide from and if anyone has a problem with it they can come and tell me everything in my face... you are who you are, be true to yourself even if it's a hard thing to do. It's better than pretending to be someone else forever.

      I prefer thinking of masculine and feminine as ways to compare and conceptualize different ways of being within a particular personal and cultural construct that anyone can do regardless of gender and sexuality. Like anyone can have both masculine and feminine qualities or prefer one type of expression more than another, but also I don't think any of it is inherent, I think it's mostly based in how people relate to their cultural upbringing and personal experiences and relationships even if there's often some overlap between people. and I think the labels should be viewed as neutral things. Like I tend to prefer more "feminine" clothing and expression, but also I think it's important for me to understand that the concept of feminine isn't actually real or inherent, even if I personally take some empowerment in it as a woman. It's affirming to me, but since it isn't inherent, there isn't any point expecting other people to relate to femininity the same way I do. Cuz that just isn't reality. I think labels are fine, even good, as long as people can recognize that they'll be affirming for some people and not for others and everyone is going to engage with them different because humans are really complex.

    I find it funny that the guys who subscribe to the "alpha-beta-omega-sigma" system are highly against homosexuality when there's a whole genre of gay erotica built around it.

    It is soo frustrating as a straight man to be called gay and actually doubt your own sexuality just because you took more care of yourself in high school and were better dressed than the average boy while maybe acting a bit more feminine and being in touch with your emotions;-(

    08:15 haha, yeah. Stupid guys who call you gay (as an insult) for the most stupid reasons. When I was in middle school I was often called gay for spending too much time with my female friends and being too friendly in general. Like wtf. But even our local lesbians thought I was gay xDDD

    Ima say it, but the reason men are ridiculed for being emotional, is because its "girly" to show emotions. Lets say that showing emotions is "girly" why would it be bad? Emotions have no sex or gender, but for some reason, its seen as girly?

    • @vins_69
      @vins_69 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      This all stems from people who are dumb enough to think that women are always more emotional. That's why it's called girly, kinda sucks tbh

    Ngl it definitely comes down to peer pressure from friends, and ofc the bad dad role model growing upm even worse if you have no dather figure. Also cos it can feel awkward having serious convos with our close friends. Being 14, it sucks

      I dont think having no father figure has anything to do with it. Kids dont need that to be a well adjusted adult, they just need a stable household. Sometimes a father figure causes more problems being present than if they werent there at all, same goes for any parent.

      It comes down to misogyny.

    • @LangkeeLongkee
      @LangkeeLongkee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@cadebowman4582 when people say "father figure" generally they mean a male role model. Children do need to see people of different backgrounds to know how to adjust their expectations of how these people should behave. If a little girl who grows up to be attracted to men has no basis on what a normal good man is it's harder to figure out on your own, and if she only sees negative examples she'll expect that as normal. The father figure doesn't have to be a member of your household, just someone you know and can look up to. They can be an uncle, family friend, teacher etc.
