FYI I just did this on my 2005, and it _seems_ like my oil cooler faces slightly inward (whereas yours seems to face straight-on to the front of the car), such that it's almost impossible to get that long 24 mm wrench onto the cooler oil feed (top) line. I was able to just barely break it loose with the long wrench, but had to resort to an adjustable wrench to tighten it down. Either way - thanks! Couldn't have done it w/o the video.
Your evo8/9 oil cooler location looks like it's in the same factory location for the 7 bolt 1995-1999 eclipse/talon 4g63t. This guide how to replacement would very useful.
Hey mate,my five has a split hose (I’ve a split in one a my hoses,I’ve degreaser all around, along with the carry on of fluid under my car ,should be free from any excess fluids now.) I will be tackling it over the weekend ,my question is- are you familiar with the Evolution V cooler/Hoses,in that- are they the same as your VIII ? As I can’t find part numbers for my hoses. Thanks in advance, Bill from SYD AUSTRALIA 💯👊
do you have the length of the lines ? I want to make some costume made oil lines at our hydraulic shop the oem ones are stupid expensive i guess, 24inch with an torsion angle of 90° on one side will fit perfect ?
My 03 evo just spun a rod bearing and I will be replacing the short block but while I've been doing research i found a few forums stating that I must replace the oil cooler and lines or I can spin a rod bearing again??? Do you know anything about this if it's true or not?
Thanks for doing this! Explained all the oil supply and return. I will need all this info for when I install the my aftermarket oil cooler. Thank you!
I LOVE THIS!! so simple and no music !!

@@billolsen5401 hello. We only have evo 8/9/10’s here in the USA. So I have no knowledge of the 5’s.
Excellent tips and video

Quick question: isn't 5W-30 the correct weight of oil?
OEM spec, sure. Many people run different weights. I run 10w30 on my 100k ish mile engine and my evo doesn't normally play in cold weather.
no, 10w30 is factory weight on a 4g63T
Is the oil filter adapter replaceable or is it part of the oil pump?
250 gto it’s replaceable. Oil pump runs off the front balance shaft. See here for more: th-cam.com/video/v6QdSXr3GJY/w-d-xo.html
