    Started off on the Lexmoto Arrow 125 version of this, since having bigger bikes...but, looking back, I did enjoy riding that bike a lot. And it never broke down or rusted away!

    I completed 245 miles on a full tank with room for more before I gave in to fill up. That is just because I knew I was up at 3am to get back on the road and save time. The bike is due for it's service at 1800 miles. May just do it myself with some guidance of course. All in all had the bike 6 months and love it. The looks you get are priceless. Been to a meet or two with the L plates and nobody bats an eye. Love bikes.

      They are great looking bikes and getting over 200 miles from a tank that size is brilliant. On my bigger bikes one will do 100 miles which is crap when you’re out for a long ride.

    Sinnis also imported a version of this called a Hooligan , they are cheap ,but appear to be a good value for the price & have been known to reach 70 mph on clock in favourable conditions ,with lighter riders . Not a bad budget runabout if you can get one in good nick at a reasonable price . Parts should also be cheap for home mechanics .

    I had one of these as my first bike! If you don't need to do more than 50mph and you aren't worried about the trade in value they are fine. 170 mpg? Nah more like 90mpg.

    • @GillyBikes
      @GillyBikes  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did think their spec sheet of 170+ mpg was a stretch.

      That’s very true. Not everyone has £5000 to buy their first bike. This is a great way to start your biking journey.

    A group of us all had Jinlun Pioneers/Texans as our first bikes, chinese bike quality was a lot poorer then, than it is today and whilst chrome rusted quickly and they didn’t survive well in even a light crash, but on the whole they were reliable and a good start in biking ( mine was on,y 6 months old and cots less than a grand). I’d never discount chinese bikes now days, in fact the hangover of earlier quality issues mean they are still cheaper than they could be and so offer good value for money especially nearly new!

    • @GillyBikes
      @GillyBikes  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely. Thats why I’m happy there are still lots saying they wouldn’t touch a Chinese bike. It keeps the prices down for the rest of us.

    I think we deserve a good summer this year 😂 You're right, these low powered bikes are great for commuting, and that Lexmoto is in better condition than my Bluroc of the same age. Just started my big bike lessons and the MT07 I'm learning on is just so much easier to ride, even slowly. So hopefully I'll be getting rid of my 125 and adiós to it, can't wait to be on a more powerful bike. On the point of Chinese bikes, I quite like the CFMoto range but would still rather get an older Kawasaki ER6 which is proven and more powerful. They just need more dealers so there's more confidence with aftersales servicing.

      I agree with you about the MT07, I just passed my Mod 2 on Thursday riding an MT07, and am now looking forward to getting rid of the AJS Tempest and getting something a bit bigger and more comfortable to ride. Best of luck with your training - just remember...cancel your indicators, I failed on my first Mod 2 test for forgetting to cancel them...doh!

    • @GillyBikes
      @GillyBikes  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The mt07 is a great bike to learn on. Admittedly I don’t know much about the CFMoto’s other than their close links to KTM. There are just so many bikes to choose from now. I really like what Benelli are doing and their quality seems to be getting better and better. Still managing to keep the prices down as well. The ER6 is a good bike to start on. I started on a Suzuki GSXR600 as my first big bike. I absolutely loved it. The only bike I regret selling.

      @@melvinpackham7490 congratulations Melvin on passing your MOD 2, what bikes are on your list to get? Yes the Tempest is similar to what I'm on, though the AJS, look classier. I was surprised by the MT07, it never crossed my mind before, the XSR700 is nice too, using the same engine etc... However I'm thinking not to spend too much on the first bigger bike, figure out what type of riding I'll be using it for first, then upgrade to what I really need. Anyway, I think it's the law you have to own two bikes anyway 😁😂

      @@GillyBikes I have my next lesson 8am tomorrow morning, clocks forward day too 😮 Been out on my 125 most of today, I really can't wait to get something that eats up the miles in it's stride and not sound like an annoyed wasp everytime there's a hill 😂 It's good for the consumer with Chinese bikes improving but keeping prices lower. Either the quality will be on par with the rest and maintain the prices in which case other manufacturers may have to start lowering their prices to compete. Not sure that's quite how it's happened in the car market, Kia are just as expensive now probably 🙄 Hopefully got another 10 years of ICE motorbikes at least

      @@melvinpackham7490 It might be worth you keeping the AJS Tempest, as a winter hack, I ride my AJS Scrambler through winter {and use it for "GreenLaning" all year round} ....whilst keeping my Yamaha 650 Dragstar for the summer months, and longer motorway trips.
