Hey everybody just a reminder liking this video as well as subscribing is completely free and helps me out a lot 😊 Edit: Just to clarify I made this video over the summer to post when I got busy at college so that's why I say things like 1.21 isn't fully out yet :)
Great video, just wanted to add, the elytra is hated by some because of the ability to fly, but this mechanic was not intended at first, but since people were using punch arrows to fly, Mojang just added rockets
yeah, i remember the controversy going down. they couldve patched it out by making punch knock you down more instead of out, but eh it is what it is. really not a fan of the flying around, but it's too late now so no point crying over spilled milk
I honestly dont understand why did so many people hate 1.9 combat changes. Like, the only thing it did is basically make combat more complex. 1.8 combat users argue that 1.8 combat does have complex strategies and that its not just spam-clicking, but I don't think that can be used as an argument agaisnt 1.9 combat because with 1.9's there's plenty of more strategies you can make. Also, 1.9 combat is very satisfying, like making the timings with your jumps in order to have a critical attack agaisnt your opponent (or mob) feels very cool to be honest. 1.8 combat supposedly is just more fast-paced but I thought that 1.9's combat wasn't slow really, like taking an extra half a second to jump and do critical damage is very good. People just cant accept relearning how to be good at combat I guess. To be honest, I also think Mojang could do something to fix this issue 1.8 PVP players have. My solution would be that when creating a world, you could just toggle on and off an option to have old combat or new combat, the same for creating servers. That way, 1.8 or 1.9 combat players can be happy having their preffered combat system and 1.8 PVP players can enjoy the new features that have come since, and now people wouldn't be arguing with each other because none of both parties are forced to live with the opposite combat. I don't know if this could generate any controversies sometimes with players or not but I still think it would be a better solution than just gatekeeping all of the features that have come out since 1.8 to 1.8 PVP players. Or otherwise they could just add the combat update they were making 9 snapshots for like 4 years ago and everybody seemed to like but then Mojang decided to not add. Anyways, great video!
Something I remember really disliking was skeletons. Skeletons have since been nerfed and they play very well, during the snapshots and the first release of 1.9 not so much. They were way too strong, and it made caving a complete slog. Even though now I can say I generally prefer the new combat it made a bad first impression.
The Ancient City is one of the best things added in recent years. It's challenging, it's rewarding, it's fun to do solo or with friends. The dark effect and deep dark mechanics are fascinating, and I think it lays the groundwork for future mechanics, such as the new Resin blocks (spreading by hitting the creaking). The Ancient City is more fun than a Trial Chamber, IMHO. I wish the Ancient City would get updated to include the use of keys/chests so more players can loot it.
You should’ve done more research on 1.3 because you said it only added some minor things without addressing the fact that it added villager trading, which didn’t exist before that.
I agree with your ranking for the most part. For me personally 1.21 is my favorite update because of the challenges it provides and the new weapon the mace. Also great video!
I have a concept for the ender ore. So i think it should be called enderite and that, just like netherite, it would be a single ingot of the ore on diamond armor. I think they should make it so you can teleport once every 15 seconds within a 15-20 block range. But it could only teleport after you enchant a full set with a special enderite only enchantment. It would also make it so you take less or no damage from ender pearls. But if they actually do this, they should also buff netherite to be just as strong so if you have a full set of netherite and you are on fire, it would go out quicker and with a special netherite only enchant you could have 15 seconds of fire resistance when you go in lava and you could swim through lava while having the fire resistance, similar to swimming in water but slower. As for the protection, durability and the tools, they would be the same just with a visual difference. So instead of netherite better than diamond and enderite better than netherite, it more like after you have diamond armor, it’s a “choose your path” type of thing. And one more bonus is that if an end update with enderite comes out there could be some sort of purple water/fluid thing. If there is you could make it so you can put it as a trim on enderite and enderite armor only and when it goes on you can see it animated and slowly flowing through the carves of the trim. If this gets added you should be able to do the same with netherite and lava.
I wonder who defines "what we wanted". Are these just the loudest people and some influencers who can make their audience have a similar opinion? I certainly enjoyed the features of the updates and don't feel that disappointed majority concerning the newest updates when talking to other casual Minecraft players. I really wonder if the majority of people really is disappointed or if that's just a loud and sassy minority.
If Mojang ever fucks up the End Update by mixing it with other random features ala Wild Update and Trails and Tales update, I doubt they'll ever come back to the centralized theme style of updates. I want the end update to be exactly that - full focus of all features only towards the end. Overhauling its terrain, biomes, foliage, mobs, mechanics, tools and weapons. Basically a nether update 2.0 but unique and fun. You've already cracked the formula once Mojang, time to do it again.
17:06 Excuse me? Swift Sneak, enchanting books and the recovery compass are gotten from ancient cities. Swift Sneak is a GODSEND for builders and once you've used it, you cant not use it anymore. The recovery compass is usefull if you play non-modded and non-hardcore vanilla, as even when you have full enchanted netherite, you will be prone to dying many times.
@@the.duck.is.ronin. To me it's not that much of a problem to be honest. Just grab enough to craft the recovery compass and don't touch them ever again. It is true that it would be cool if it had more uses, though.

skeletons, knock back changes and combos
@@Hyperforg Skeletons got fixed and the knockback is fine. I don't know about combo's, I'm not that into PVPing.
Yeah 1.8 pvp sucks
@@SirNether5000 I dont necessarially think it sucks I'm just saying that 1.9 combat is objectively and subjectively better.

1.21 was honestly a great update imo just not the same level as things like the nether update for me

My boy underrated 1.4. The update that also added flower pots, mob heads, item frames, and of course command blocks!
He said decor items but yeh why did he not mention command blocks
He also completely glossed over 1.3 adding villager trading. Villagers were added in 1.0 but they were useless at the time.
I remember hating the new combat changed because I was a massive PVP player and I sort of “mastered” the old PVP. I’ve warmed to it now though.
I only watched the vid to make sure that the nether and village and pillage update were top tier.

for now, you are underrated, my guy. Keep up the great work

Recovery Compass is also too rare to lose. I bet the safest way to use it is to keep it in the Ender Chest.
