Yates is one of the few Mr Olympias who actually seems to have a good understanding of training and nutrition principles, and who gives advice that your average natural gym-goer could take and get solid results with. When I listen to people like Phil Heath, Jay Cutler, Ronnie Coleman, Dexter Jackson, or Shawn Rhoden give advice, it always amazes me that these people got so far in the sport whilst having relatively little in-depth knowledge of training. Just goes to show that genetics and drugs go a long way.

I was able to cheat the last couple of reps out on a couple of exercises so I could do the slow negative ones after I got to failure on the positive. The trouble is I train alone, muscles like chest are going to be a problem as you can’t cheat say a bench press up once you’ve gone to failure. Maybe I’ll try the smith machine or something.
@@steveshorter how's it been going for you? I took a week off bc my shoulder was giving me problems, undoubtedly from over training. Came back today and hit chest and back but not with crazy volume. Looked so much more swole than normal lol. Doesn't even make sense in my mind but I'm going to continue this way, with more rest than less. I was working out 5-6 days a week
Dorian is such an incredible man. In the gym and out. I listen to him at least once a day now. He’s my idol! True inspiration
Dorian really opened something up in me, a new vision, a new way of training. I look up to that man, great inspiration.
Met Dorain in the mid 90s at a seminar NW England he hasnt changed, same methodical way of thinking, never did go to his head, hes my number one bodybuilding icon.. I competed in the juniors early 90s and won a few small titles with WABBA and Lathams of course at 20 yrs old i like many thought they could be a Dorian. Now 50 this year Im still training Dorian style and still loving life. Good video Mike well done
When Dorian Yates says you should be in the gym for only 45mins to 1hour training, what sort of program would you use? I do an upper lower split 4 times a week at the moment and I'd find it impossible to hit the required volume in just 1hour, I take about 2 hours instead.
You just have to increase the intensity bro. His training is based off training to absolute failure for 1-2 working sets
youre doing fine.. Upper lower is the best for natties. and 1 hour definitely isnt enough. Keep doing what youre doing
Thanks Lee i listen to your stuff all the time now and I'm training more than ever now
This is such great stuff - training for 27 years in so many ways and this Dorian / Mentzer style is so fantastic !… I’m adopting this method for 6-8 weeks I can’t wait to see how well it’s going to work !… 51 , started at 24 … 150lbs , 215 now … bodybuilding is my identity … all natty and I’m great shape !…. Thanks Mike for the vids !
By far the best training method ever produced. Thanks for posting. 👍

Wow, Dorian giving the best tips, these videos are very helpful! Thanks guys, great video!
Great video!!! Just goes to show you don’t need to train loads but train smart…
Haha love the kid in the back in the begining, does not have a single clue he’s benching next to a bodybuild legend
Dorian is a wise man. Great video, thank you.
Good on you for recognizing strengths, weaknesses and adjusting accordingly.
DY mentioning steroids and Mike is just 🤐
He sure shut right up 😂
They both are on juice
Τον ανησυχούσε η κρεατινη για την τριχόπτωση και όχι το Masteron και το winstrol που καταπίνει κάθε μέρα 😂
Words of wisdom from the best, but Arnie will always be the 🐐 awesome vid and congrats for training with this man!
I could listen to Dorian Yates talk about training all day. Thanks for posting.
This video was sick, and big Mike asked all the right questions. Always raising the bar with the fitness content and keeping it interesting.
I could seriously listen to Dorian all day.
He’s got that fascinating old man story persona.
Been a fan of him since I was younger watching Blood and Guts.
crazy that this is free! thanks man. This is GOLD !
Super Mike. Training with the legend and a great personality. 👍
Really enjoyed that. Dorian is a legend and you had a great workout and interview that came across very natural.
Dorian Yates is such a Legend of bodybuilding, so down to earth and a great guy
Mike, thank you so much for doing this series mate, so helpful and honestly so so special because of who you trained with and you acting like a complete newbie to the gym only because its with Dorian! 😂❤️ love that! Love this series, and please as a request…. Try train with more legends! This type of content is so dope man! 🙏🏼🙌🏼
Dorian giving mike a lot more respect this time around. i guess 1.3 million followers will do that for ya
Great to see a body building legend pass down his experience and training tips to the next generation👍👍
Yates was and always will be a different animal in the gym than anyone else i've seen. Ronnie was a monster and lifted crazy heavy, but intensity, Yates still in unbeaten.
rewatched this episode because I learned a lot. Many gems. Thanks
Thank you, Mike, for bringing Dorian. He is the nicest, most experienced and practical body builder ever.
