Sorry to tell you Zanar, but it’s not because some dude has been lifting for years that he’s beyond reproach. Especially since these greats have been pumping themselves full of roids for years, often doing absurd training that would result in injuries for most naturals. I know Yates is some kind of god to you British, but that clouds your judgment. Same with Arnold, I pretty much watched all his training videos and read his massive bodybuilding book, lots of the advice is basically wrong if scrutinised today, but Arnold got away with it by pumping full of roids and avoiding injury that way.

It seems that Zanar has criticized the kind of people that so often criticize others who have achieved greatness, regardless of roids or no roids, to talk about all kinds of distracting fitness philosophies or they make these "scientific" pontifications that take time away from productive training and the impressive results that a human can achieve. 23 minutes once a year with Dorian. It’s not enough. Liked this to have been longer. Sometimes unedited and the actual length of the workout 45-60 minutes is better.

This is amazing! Great to see Mentzer’s concepts live on through Dorian, legends passing the torch. I broke through 5 years of plateau using a similar low volume, high intensity HIT routine.
@@climate-moneymakingcampaig305 most of Mentzer’s exercise selections are machine/assisted selections. I don’t need a partner to go to failure and forced reps on a leg extension or pec deck. Drops sets to failure are the alternative for things like barbell curls and leg press.

pressing 45 kg dumbbells overhead for 8 reps with good ROM at Mike's bodyweight is seriously impressive for a guy mainly focused on overall aesthetics. Very advanced
@@Antonio_Serdar yeah I dunno about that. Mike's chest is more aesthetically impressive than his shoulders, but when he trained Bench with larry wheels, he maxed out at 140kg for 2 reps. I'd say this was more impressive than I expected
Never seen your channel before decided to watch this. Excellent job! I have mad respect for Dorian since he's retired. His honesty and openness is refreshing. I'm 55 now and looking back on my body building career I totally overtrained in my 20s . I make better gains now by doing less and apply Dorian's principles. I was at the Olympia to witness Lee Haney ( The Goat) break Arnold's record. I passed Dorian after but didn't dare say a word to him cuz he was so dejected and pissed off I thought he would rip my head off. Haha. Your looking good! Keep up the great videos!

I'm glad to see Dorian looking so well compared to some of his counterparts from his era. Ive always found myself going heavy on side laterals (and shoulders in general) has been the key to big delts. Most people ive known who advocate for slow controlled movement or higher reps on delts had smaller shoulders than me and whenever I worked lighter/slower my delts soon started lagging
I have nothing but admiration for Dorian, managing to cope with once upon a time, being such a huge guy and now not so. Most guys can't even cope with age related body wastage. Good man

Brilliant session. Dorian is right, always do the full motion, that's what skeletal muscle is designed to do. I'm a few years older than Dorian and have always trained that way for over 46 years and have been injury free, and am still as strong as I was 30 years ago. Like Dorian says it's not complicated, progressive overload is all it takes, but consistency and self discipline is what takes real effort.
13:06 A few exercises that come to mind would be Rotation with a band or single arm cable for the rotator cuff Face pulls / reverse pec dec Rear delts are pretty much the stabilizes for the shoulder , helps with posture and pulling heavy loads when rowing. I spent weeks researching everything about it because I tore my AC / rotator cuff. TLDR ... stretchen rear delt
The "DY effect" love his style of training. i've adopted high intensity single set training. to failure even static failure then dropset. been able to reduce my training from 6-8 hrs a week to less than 2 hrs per week

I think there's one reason why people criticize Dorian's method. It's because they never really train past failure each and every workout. Instead, they do high-volume workouts to fatigue the muscle but not really creating that muscle hypertrophy.

As long as you train smart and leave everything in the gym, following with a proper diet and recovery regiment you should in theory grow regardless of HIT or high volume (probably a combination of the two would yield the best results). Muscle building is an awful lot more than just workouts method , starting from genetics, lifestyle, supplements, anabolics etc… To assume that most of the hit people are small and volume people are big, is a poor comment nonetheless.

It’s really not that great at all 😂 I think it’s abit embarrassing tbh. My 20yr old brother no where near his size does 45’s. I’m not saying it’s light but Jesus at least be able to get 10 out
The thing with bending your arms when shrugging is a coordination thing, people with more coordination can shrug at the same time as forcing their arms to be straight. Most the time it doesn;t matter as Dorian said BUT if you are shrugging or dead lifting a huge weight it IS important to keep your arms straight unless you want to tear your bicep.
"Old School Training" at it's best. I'm in my 60's and have just gone back to my local gym.I used to train in an "old" school gym in Mitcham in 70's.Pinks gym in Carshalton 80's till it closed.Like Kings,proper gyms .Met and trained with some great people.Nice video. M.O.T.
For me I have found the Dorian and Mentzer way of doing things has given me the biggest and most consistent gains in strength and size. As Dorian said then, there is many ways to Rome. Great video.
Yates was the smartest bodybuilder to ever grace the sport. He took gear through his entire career and monitored every aspect of it with doctors on retainer to keep track of his vitals and numbers. Once he made his mark, and his money, he got off it and went about his life. Not many of the old guard are still around.
DY is a gift to all of mankind. Genuine, intelligent, experienced, and selfless. Just a few words to describe one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time.

Full ROM is often impossible because most people have mobility issues.
Dorian yates became my favorite body builder... i love the fact that he is a professor in bodybuilding

Yates is a legend. Props to him for breaking the mold of "conventional" splits for bodybuilding, sort of following the Mike Mentzer HIT protocol.

It’s really not that great at all 😂 I think it’s abit embarrassing tbh. My 20yr old brother no where near his size does 45’s. I’m not saying it’s light but Jesus at least be able to get 10 out

The thing with bending your arms when shrugging is a coordination thing, people with more coordination can shrug at the same time as forcing their arms to be straight. Most the time it doesn;t matter as Dorian said BUT if you are shrugging or dead lifting a huge weight it IS important to keep your arms straight unless you want to tear your bicep.

I'm in my 60's and have just gone back to my local gym.I used to train in an "old" school gym in Mitcham in 70's.Pinks gym in Carshalton 80's till it closed.Like Kings,proper gyms .Met and trained with some great people.Nice video.

Yates was the smartest bodybuilder to ever grace the sport. He took gear through his entire career and monitored every aspect of it with doctors on retainer to keep track of his vitals and numbers. Once he made his mark, and his money, he got off it and went about his life. Not many of the old guard are still around.
