The full workout can be found in the description. To really get the most out of it you would need a spotter who knows what they are doing. This is the first video I've uploaded to my channel which I've not edited myself - credit to goes to Lucas Haynes. Let me know what you think :)
I see your point Morty. Getting really big not my goal. Would hamper my muay thai which is my true passion for now. Maybe when I get to old for that I will aim to become bigger. Any good channel tips for that ? Cheers. ..... *The Plough*
Mike’s so humble, being told stuff that he definitely already knows and just listening. Exactly how you’ve got to be around a guy like Dorian. Much respect mate.
he definately dont know otherwise he wouldnt go train with him you see that in his reactions of his latest vids with him he feels it more plus he is shocked how sore he is 3 days after training with dirian so what does that tell you? not training as hard as he thought in the first place dorians a legend anyone who thinks they train properly myself included will get a wake up call with him
Its amazing Dorian practices the same exercises as everyone else, but its the unreal INTENSITY he brings to each set that put him head and shoulders above the rest. Incredible man
Videos like this truly fuel my passion for bodybuilding and fitness. Just went into my first month tracking macros religiously and training with more consistency than ever. I’m not a beginner lifter but I’ve never been so diligent. I can see progress already. Your videos are awesome keep them coming.
having watched. thoroughly disliked the editing. appropriate for a workout edit but i want to be hearing dorian's tips not some rubbish song and slo mos
I have to disagree I liked the editing. Never been to this channel before so I'm not used to the old style. As far as I'm concerned, as long as Dorian's advice isn't edited over, it's great
I went to temple gym the other day and when I saw that machine I was actually star struck. It's iconic from blood and guts. Seems like it should be in a museum. Great piece of equipment!
Holy smokes, i like ur yt channel. Dorian is my favourite bodybuilder. As soon as i saw tittle i was so happy. Damn u got opportunity to be with one of the greatest of all time. In my book he has best back development in history of bodybuilding. Dorian is such a nice guy. Im glad u trained with him. U deserved it. Keep up good videos m8. ✌
That is freaking epic Mike. Mr Dorian Yates is easily my favorite bodybuilder of all time. The guy is blood and guts all the way and humble so it seems to boot! Legend
Thank you! This has been a very important issue I've been facing considering in effort to grow my back. That it's more than just pulling the bar down or up but pulling/bring it down and back 🙌🏼 So nice to see an Olympian icon on your channel, you are in amidst of one of the greats 💪🏼 Much respect ✊🏼
Mike, wow what an honor to train with Dorian, he has been my mentor for over the past two decades. I was very lucky to see all the action when Dorian was in his prime. Great video my friend... If you have a moment check out my training video. It won't disappoint.
Awesome! Thx Mike and Dorian! Watching this is like having a training session from the superman master coach. And for free! I'll be watching this in my gym for inspiration and motivation on back day. - one request- mike pls have ur camera person do "full" shots so we can all see the form and technique from start to finish of a rep. These close ups don't allow us to really see exactly how all the movements are done. And when DY says ur form "is good," we want to see fully what he's talking about. That would really make this a perfect training video. Thanks from LA!
One of the greatest backs in the sport.. I remember reading old muscle fitness mags back in the day about Dorian Yates. Awesome vid and much respect to you and your channel!
This is the video that got me training again and I can see why. I’m in the best shape of my life at 39 and no question you two men are big motivational forces. Cheers
Wow what an honour to be coached by the legend that is Dorian Yates! Interestingly thou watched a recent video where you suggested when doing deadlifts to look at a spot on the floor rather than to look up as Dorian recommended. Amazing video though 👍🏼
One of the best videos...mainly becos there is the order in doing which exercises first and which ones later. Millions of vids on youtube and nobody mentions that sequence- which is bloody important.
Awesome video! These kind of sessions where an advanced lifter is guided by a Yates-like-figure are the best... besides entertain the spectators they're VERY useful for us, intermediate lifters eager and hungry to learn from the best.
So funny, no matter how long you have been working out in the past. And when you train with someone that is a pro and have done everything, and experienced, you always learn more and can get the most of each and every exercises. To see you struggle and the look on your face says it all. It's like, what the hell did I get myself into. I'm actually struggling and having a hard time keeping up, ha! But that's how you learn and grow. Keep it up, I enjoy all the content and the variety of exercises you do with or without other people.
Mike, You have a BRILLIANT idea of keeping your videos FRESH and MOTIVATIONAL. Legends like Dorian and newer bodybuilders like Terry will keep the interest of your followers and also keep you fresh as well. I think the next step is practicing your interview techniques and include conversations with some of the pros. In the meantime it becomes a win win experience for you to grow professionally as well as perfecting your own body building goals! Brilliant progress in You Tube life! Keep it up and thanks, Hal
1. Mike, your my physique role model. I printed a picture of you and put it on my wall. It's not only your work ethic that I appreciate, but your character! 2. The music and editing here was sick AF!! 3. Imma start saying yah after everything thanks to Mr. YATES!!!!😆😆
I think last time we Skyped you said we were speaking the day after you did this workout. I can see what you were saying about needing only one set at 100% to utterly fry your nervous system. Looked great! Also: THE PRODUCTION VALUE IS AWESOME. Whoever your videographer is, major props to him/her, and the same to your editor/producer. Top notch. Thanks for sharing!
With Immense knowledge Mike has, he still remains so humble like a student so eager to learn . A lots of guys need to learn this humility from Mike ( ur inspiration in manners apart from workout )
Lol I love the faces you make when you're doing the cable rows. Doesn't matter wtf you do when you work out as long as it gets you in the right mindset. I make a lot of noise and probably make stupid faces too when I train but I know I'm working harder than anyone else in the gym.
Gotta say so many badly edited videos on you tube this one is really nicely done. Impressed. Nice shots and slow mo bits. Not over done just right. Slick looking. Get your guy to edit more like this 👍🏼👍🏼
Mike, thank God you faced the fear of the camera. I know how you feel, I have social anxiety and I couldn't even talk on the phone never mind walking in public with my top off. You are 100% correct, never let a fear stop you, no one has the right to tell you that you can't do anything not even your mind. Now, I even walk in to stores to do my shopping with my top off. Quality of the videos are superb, and tbh they are properly the best advice I have been given. Imagine if you didn't do it, the mind is a complex thing. Whats the name of first track...gaves me goosebumps 👍🏻
Song name at 3.06 in?
1 of your best vids.. great edit.. & more dorian yates pls 😄
It doesn't matter how much you know about bodybuilding If somebody like Dorian Yates is teaching you it's best you shut up and listen..
FoxRacer090 Exactly, I couldn't of put it better myself!!👍🏻
FoxRacer090 yup
Dominic dominic you don't have to follow everything he says. Just listen out of respect.
that's true. if you wanna build muscle naturally you shouldn't listen to guys that take drugs.
joss almeida Drugs don't make a champion.. Hard work and knowledge do
We already know you as a master of Form, but getting it confirmed by the Dorian Yates must've felt great!

having watched. thoroughly disliked the editing. appropriate for a workout edit but i want to be hearing dorian's tips not some rubbish song and slo mos
William Bore it is balanced between old school dorian speech and cinematic new school editing
I have to disagree I liked the editing. Never been to this channel before so I'm not used to the old style. As far as I'm concerned, as long as Dorian's advice isn't edited over, it's great
William Bore Yes, his mentality can be applied to natties because it's not about throwing huge weight around. Anyone can go to failure.
qualityguy thanks for answering a question nobody asked...
I love how open that you are to learn from him. Never change this aspect of your personality. You're a humble soul, Mr. Thurston 👌👏
What an absolute genius. Must have been an absolute honor to train with such a legend.
That pull over machine looks old and classic... can you feel how hard dorian work was....
bayu mantari it's the same machine Dorian used back in his competitive period, you see him use it on the blood and guts training videos.
That’s machine is a Nautilus pull over machine! Great machine from the 70’s and 80’s 💪🏻🆒
I went to temple gym the other day and when I saw that machine I was actually star struck. It's iconic from blood and guts. Seems like it should be in a museum. Great piece of equipment!
They should have that more around the world... its like a damn rare machine that give a proper squeeze...
Same one he tore his triceps on as well lol
Really good. Dorian is a legend and deserves to be more celebrated. Such an intelligent trainer too.
Great surprise to see Yates with you! I suffered through the background music just because I am so into weights and Yates.

Thanks for the upload.
By far the best Olympian. Absolutely amazing mindset and drive.
Training with Dorian himself must have been unreal to begin with (one of my dreams) NICE WORK💪💪💪
I paid to do a chest session with Dorian. One of my favourite experiences in bodybuilding. What a legend
how much did he charge?
Wow what an honour to be coached by the legend that is Dorian Yates!

Amazing video though 👍🏼
The old Nautilus Pullover is still the best upper back machine around: 3:25 I did my first way back in 1979 with Mike Mentzer.
Don R. Mueller, Ph.D. Doubt any commercial gym has that, my gym doesn't even have a fucking rack for rack pulls
The vuy I train with has nautilus machines including the pull over. He ought them from a by closing down cant replicate that pullover any other way
Shoot if the kettlebell made a comeback then why not the Nautilus Pullover!
Nothing compares with a trainer standing next to you shouting and yelling at you. It boost up your motivation.
Well done Mike
Amazing - more of these types of videos Mike. Keep the good content coming. Absolutely love it; you're nailing it!
You showed great maturity by listening. Showing respect to a legend. High class Mike
