Having routines at home and stick to them help my daughter to stay more focused, and also helps avoid fights, doing homework before she is tired so she can be less distracted and more motivated.
Love the video. Good info. You asked for our ideas for improving executive function. I have started using some Critical Thinking Exercises to “stretch” my grandchildren’s creativity and problem solving skills. I think this will help them develop/strengthen their executive functions. I think it will instill confidence in their ability to resolve problems, which will in turn increase their use of these skills. It stands to reason, to my way of thinking, that problem solving exercises executive function. Like you said, the more you use it, the stronger it becomes.
FYI: The brain may be fully developed by the mid-20s, meaning that the number of neurons are more or less static, BUT the brain keeps changing our whole life, ie new neuro pathways get developed, reinforced, abandoned, etc. So although our kids and youth have the greater opportunity to transform the way their brain works, this ability remains our whole life! Which means that your #1 should remain a focus our whole life.
What do you think about EF, chronic illness and using medical marijuana for pain management w the effects on the brain? Double edged sword it seems bc it helps EF in some ways but damages in long term...ty!

It is procrastinating for me. But I can see in my 5 children, 3 of which are neurodivergent, the issues are different for each
