Very cool day! Thanks for bringing us along Sir Pete! Was fun to watch and hear ya talking about your new car some more! So glad you and Mrs G love your Porsche
Makes me miss my 964 and 993 from 21-15 years ago. Had to unload those babies when my first child arrived. Slumming it is a JCW Countryman, these days.
@@PetrolPed Will hand over the JCW Countryman to my wife this week (I am crying) as my company car arrived (X3 Xdrive 30e "Msport"..."M" is a bit of a stretch, IMHO). The X3 has loads of tech and is quite beautiful, chock full of amenities. However, as a sporty driving experience...B...O...R...I...N...G. @@PetrolPed btw I’m ordering 718 S, love the low end torque and honestly feels better for me for everyday driving! Thank you for all your amazing videos!
Hi Pete - I have just purchased a 718 Cayman GTS 2.5L and can’t believe how quick it is, unbelievable, it’s a very underrated car if you ask me. Love it
The 4 pot never got any love from the masses, but I love mine. I think it sounds great (better than my C8) and it’s wicked fast on the track. It has a very flat torque curve and there is no turbo lag, because the PDK keeps it high in the rev range. In stock form you are limited on the front camber. For more than occasional track duty most people use camber plates or install lower control arms, which was my choice. I’ve got 50 track days on it, and have had zero problems. Wish I could say that about my Corvette which is on its third engine.
Iv had a 22 c8 and now have a 23 z06 love both had 0 issues drove the hell out of them but I just ordered a gts yesterday for daily driving and I'm extremely excited to have a little manual convertible !!!
I must get to CC and try this before the winter. It’s a great stream and the split screen works well. Your references to wearing out tyres and pads became laboured..
Wow, castle Combe - that brings back a memory! My best mate and I took his esprit S2; we’d gone up to south west wales to pick it up from near godalming in Surrey after it had some tarting up. We headed down with two new esprit’s the next morning. We somehow dodged getting a tug after the others who had radar detectors hit the anchors from a fast cruise on M4. After leaving said motorway, we made legal progress towards the circuit - until about 2 miles away my mate lost it on a damp dewy right handler - we just touched the hedge going backwards! We agreed to say nothing of this to the lads when they got there. When they did, they immediately asked if we’d seen the skid marks about 2 miles from the circuit. We were like “oh yeah, someone obviously a bit keen to get there!”. My mates mechanic friend then leant down, grabbed some shrubbery from the back of mates car and said “Clearly lads”. Safe to say, it was mentioned at my mates wedding in his best man speech - and his mechanic still takes the piss now. But we were flipping lucky it wasn’t worse!
The 4 cyl Boxter VTG turbo engine is fast and have an amazing chassis. I have had my 718 Cayman S Manual, PASM-20, PTV since new, 2017 (the year without particle filter). Tuned the car 2 years ago with stage 1. I have done a few Porsche trackdays and are now racing with the big guys 991 GT3 and turbo. I am keeping pace pretty good. :) On the street i have never lost a race and i have raced all types of sportscars. I obviously do not keep up with Mclaren´s and modern ferrari´s and that type of cars. M4 CS is always a sweet race. :) 0-100 km/h in 3,5~3,6s. 100-200 km/h in ~8,5s
Lol, you've done 5k in it already?? WOW! My Cooper S, the Black Panther as it is known has only done just under 6100 miles since I drove it out of the showroom on 23/3/2020. Then again, I have my Cooper Convertible as well now.
A Ford GT in the Heritage trim like you showed in the vid sold at auction in Dallas, Tx last week for over $600,000.! So glad to see one being driven rather than sitting in some garage as an investment and never being driven.
I’m glad you enjoyed your CC experience….and survived! I always see somebody go off backwards on that bend every time I go there….one memorable was a Dealer demonstrator Ferrari 599 that went home on a lorry surrounded in torn off plastic bits…”I’ve spun the 599…..can you rescue me?” was the phone call!! Stay safe Peter.😀😀😀

I know the crash corner you men, I spun there onto the infield in pouring rain, praying I wouldn’t hit the Marshalls post; fortunately I didn’t but we were all worried!
Although the weather seems cool it would e good to note what your oil pressure and temp was throughout the track day. Amy additional camber? If not how much understeer in track when pushed. Any brake pads fade during the day? Way to jog it out there and test all the bits. Cheers!

Did you adjust tire pressures for the track speeds, or just stick with standard pressures?
In the Porsche I wasn’t doing many sessions and I was keeping the short so didn’t adjust my pressures. I would normally drop them a few PSI 👍
