      Hudson needs to spend this rehab period just doing weighted pull-ups and come out the undisputed pull-up monster with an incredibly thick back.

      @@harrislam Probably. I originally went from zero chinups at 300lbs, then lost weight until I hit 190lbs and could do about 20 chins, before slowly climbing back up to 220lbs through a combination of protein (good!) and lots of beer (bad!), all the while working on adding weight on my chinups. At 240lbs, I'd focus on losing weight of course, but you could also go pretty far with negatives and assisted reps.

    I haven't been able to do pull ups since I was 16. I'm 32 now. A dude in his 60's and a dude with a totally destroyed ankle are rockin' them out... I really need to get back in shape. Wow. Keep it up guys. I hope I can do pull ups with my son when I'm in my 60's!

    • @reyjo1759
      @reyjo1759 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      hey, it's been 4 months, are you still at it? If you're struggling, having a low bar to go in the upper position of the pull up, then lifting the feet from the ground and then lower urself into the dead hang as slow and controlled as possible for reps can work wonders for achieving the pull up! This also works for similar movements like the Dip. The so called negative portion of the movement does use the same muscle groups, but we're a lot stronger there, because we only have to resist and not actively pull or press ourself upwards.

      @@erintheangry door frame pull up bar, work with the neutral grip handles. Also, grab yourself some pull up assistance bands from Amazon. Get the set and start with one of the big ones, loop it over the handles and hook a knee in it. Great for doing lots of reps, and after a few weeks working down to the lightest band, until you can do ten with the light band, then you should be able to do 3-4 without the band.

    As we all know the buff dudes eat very good meals to get these gains and maintain, but what I'm curious about is will his ankle heal any faster than an average guy who doesnt eat nearly as good of a diet with the right foods? Just thought of this watching this video, keep up the videos and hope you have a good fast recovery! Stay buff!

    • @diveshsingh5425
      @diveshsingh5425 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Of course, a healthy diet helps the body function 100%

    • @PzA37
      @PzA37 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The way physiology works is pretty consistent among individuals so long as your hitting your basic RDAs for dietary intake. For adequate bone healing it's important to get calcium, protein, vitamin d, and all of your other vitamins daily. This should ensure you heal like an average person.
      It's not so much as eating healthy speeds up healing, it's that eating unhealthy (not getting adequate protein, calcium, and all your daily vitamin RDAs) prolongs the healing process.
      Other factors include suppressed immune function (hiv, autoimmune disease) or diseases that inhibit nutrient absorption such as Crohns disease, celiac disease, pernicious anemia/atrophic gastritis, which cause decreases vitamin levels which slow healing. For instance scurvy (poor vitamin c levels), vitamin a deficiency, and some others have been shown to cause slow wound healing, but these take a bit of time below inadequate levels to cause these problems.
      What's important here is calcium/vitamin d and protein which are all important for bone health. Vitamin d promotes bone remodeling and calcium absorption in the gut and retention in the kidneys. Calcium is a necessary electrolyte in the diet. And protein is required for collagen deposition in the early stages of bone healing and it promotes calcium absorption in the gut similar to vitamin d.
      So to answer your question, if you and Hudson suffered a similar injury at the same time, so long as you're both doing therapy routinely and correctly as prescribed, listen to your doctor and stay non weight bearing and avoid re-injury, you'll most likely heal at the same pace as long as you eat a relatively consistently normal diet and take your vitamins.

    • @PzA37
      @PzA37 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also thyroid disease and parathyroid problems could affect calcium homeostasis and cause problems, or bone disease such as osteomalacia, pagets disease of bone, or osteopetrosis which can affect bone remodeling and make one susceptible to reinjury.

    Great video Dudes and Dad.
    Such a happy feeling to see a father standing tall next to his strong tall sons.
    One request please, can you kindly put up a video of how you made that wooden pull up/squat station from wood. Please.
    I would love to try making it too.
    Many thanks

    Great challenge. But I have to say I think Buff Dad really won due to his age. Most people his age would struggle with 1 or 2.

    My record is 19, but I do way more range of motion. Completely straight arms to com over the bar. I could probably get close to that with 3/4 pullups.

    It's really frustrating to see height difference they have with their dad. It's quite the opposite for me. My father is 6 ft 2 and I'm 5 ft 10, and yet I had all the food in the world to eat. Oh yeah, and my mother is 5 ft 9. By that logic, I should've been at least 6 ft 3. Just a random frustration rant. Genetics make no sense at all.

    You guys are so fun and down to earth. I appreciate the dynamic between all of you. You guys are so authentic, and I really enjoy seeing videos of guys who are not roided out, with good health and physiques that are attainable. Love the videos, even though I'm commenting on a very old video. LOL

    Hudson, I'm sure things have been tougher behind the scenes then you let on. But, I find it inspiring how well you are handling your injury. Really amazing. Reminds me to be thankful to have a healthy body that is able to go exercise and get after it.
