Ive been going through some financial troubles recently due to the increased amount of strongmen trying to annihiliate my frontdoor with a big sledghammer, so im glad theres finally a company out there trying to adress that issue.
I heard there's a lot of strongmen annihilating your backdoor with a sledgehammer, but those are just rumours.

Most impressed with Eddie's accuracy on the brick work more than anything else.
Yes! He's not just strong, he's fucking clever. He picks up how doors and frames work instantly. Oversight on Latham's part: if you're gonna place an RC3 door, make sure it's anchored RC3 as well. Like placing a fireproof door in a wooden shack.
He was pretty crap on the metal door though, hitting it in the middle instead of the bottom where it was bolted.

Whoever was the guy at Latham who came up with this idea deserves a raise.
You can tell he did not care he was getting paid for this. He wanted to bring those doors down at all costs.

I like the British idea of making the mailbox slot right in the door so you can pick up the letters right off the floor. In continental Europe, we always have to go outside to empty the letterbox and then throw the letters on the floor by hand.
You can get a little box on the inside if you want. It doubles as a door knocker
Yeah but it's dangerous if someone decides to set fire to your house by putting something burning through your letter flap !! And kids have been known to find it amusing to push fireworks through them

The speed the sledgehammer travels even when Eddie’s tired and been swinging it for a while, is really incredible. He’s rotating through his powerful hips and midsection perfectly and it’s wild how hard he hits.
You can see decent quality bricks evaporate. Usually when we hit them they crack or the mortar goes or they turn to rocks, or if you hit them like he does, nothing happens.
The trick is to hit the mortar join, as the difference in hardness of the materials causes them to break up on impact. i bet I could get him through a wall in minutes- with his force though doing that the whole wall might come down 😂
I think he'd get enough room for the inside handle in seconds in the unshielded one. No way a regular bloke can though.

The fact after a point it became SIGNIFICANTLY easier and less time consuming to just break the wall as opposed to the door actually had me dying.

I saw a history video about WWII where the Germans put some gold behind a steel door inside a cave... The Allies broke a brick wall beside the blast door to get in instead of the door.
And that is why frame protectors or even better, steel frames were invented lol! Also, you can just tear through someone's wall instead of a door, it's always been a thing.
This was a great example of the unstoppable force vs. the immoveable object.

I would love to see the lock picking lawyer have his way with these doors. We have seen the brute force here, now we need to see how the locks last against a skilled lock picker.

The other doors that actually had locks, probably through those pretty quick. But the fire door, the last one, nothing to pick, can't easily destroy the frame, and the door itself is bolted in through multiple locations as well as multiple hinges, so would say the last one is best, but you won't be putting that on your house without a way to get it open from the outside.
Would be nice to see a hybrid door with a similar idea, but with some way to open it from the outside that would make it difficult to lockpick or hack.

Was a police officer for 34 years first thought after seeing the construction of the door was don't waste time on it attack the frame where it mounts to the structure. A few minutes later Eddie figured it out. Bravo on your quality product

@@MiGujack3 I mean at that point it's just selecting the kind of people that want to get in your house though, isn't it?
Plasma cutter or acetylene torch isn't really in your average burglary kit, and windows, well, there's security measures for those too if you want to go in, but broken glass is always a proper risk for anyone going in and out, so most people just try to avoid that.
Best security scenario is a camera system, a good door, and roller bars for the windows, but at that point, you'd probably be attracting the guys that actually DO have plasma cutters and acetylene torches, so it's a consideration that you have to make.

I'd get one of these though, good luck getting through the door, better chance is to go through the wall that it's bolted on.
EDIT: Get some exotic lock cylinders as well, if you get one of these.
Rule of thumb: Dimples and odd shapes are the way to go, if it still looks like a normal key, it's not secure enough.

It’s funny cause people do this for pretty low pay out there on commercial job sites and stuff swinging hammers all day, so yes his stamina is good for his size but when your leaner your swinging it a lot longer a lot of the time
Yeah to swing full force and genuinely try to break something isn't easy. Most jobs will teach you, either by experience or a good coworker, that you let the momentum of the sledge do the work and just make sure it's a decent swing.

As a common ex street dweller: It doesn't matter what door you have. What matters is how many locking mechanism the door has. The more you have, the longer it will take. So, if you have the mightiest door of them all made out of extreme steel titanium super mega ultra and it only have one lock, your door is as bad as any other door. The more locks, the better! And also, your windows are probably just glass, and, well, as a wise man once said: The door is only as strong as the window next to it ;)

This is the best promotion I have ever seen. This is content that promotes a product that utilizes the company to produce a better video. If Latham hadn’t stepped in, even if he did a breaking down a door video, it would not have been so extensive, the setup would have been probably worse. You got to see two sides competing, and both winning in the end

If you have 750 pounds for a reinforced steel door (checked their prices) then you also have enough money to reinforce your windows. Not a problem mate.

With the 1st Latham door, the frame wasn't properly attached so the impact on the door got reduced by quite a bit.
I'm neither a fitness guy nor am I watching fitness/strongman videos regularly. But man I had a blast watching Eddie smashing into those doors. Never was a 24 min commercial that exciting :D
As a former firefighter in the US, outward facing doors were the worst to get open. With the doo peeling away from the frame slightly, using a crowbar or hallagon, it would be completely possible if not easier to open. I was on the entry team, meaning I was given large tools and told to get a door open or even a car. So I have experience with doors of that style.
what door would you recommend for a home owner wanting security? Inward or outward? thx
@@MaximusMerideus it completely depends on the area you live. If you live in a lower threat area inward will be sufficient. Higher threat areas would be more secure by outward swinging. You always need to consider what would be easier for paramedic/first responders if you needed them. In which case in ward would be more preferred. I personally have an inward swinging. Your door knobs/locks play a big role as threat protection. I suggest research everything, including the frame your attaching to.

No, you missed his meaning. If he's trying to break in, it's normally an unoccupied property. He was saying by the time it peaks the neighbors curiosity enough to roust from bed and have a look via the glass, it'll be at least 30 seconds. People look more out of curiosity/nosiness or annoyance if it's clearly not shaking their house.

Eddie's got a point, with doors this strong they'd just go through the windows or walls instead, those things need to be re-enforced too, and the frame of the door perhaps more deeply anchored into the walls...

@@Tulip1811 True, but they aren't the only kind of person that may try to break into a house. looters, rioters, belligerent drunks, someone out to get you, other violent criminals.
I bought one of these as a back door in 2013, it’s still going strong, I replaced the handles after about 8 years and Latham’s were very helpful both when I initially purchased it, and also with replacement handles. I was surprised how reasonably priced they were, and I’ve been very pleased with the door since. Have also recommended to friends.
Ive got a 4 inch wide flat steel bar thats 350mm long with a dirty chain welded 2 it you push it through the letter box or smash it through the door window hook it up to a toe bar and drive the door the frame and the front of the house is coming down

I'm glad I went for composite doors when I moved into my house 7 years ago. I remember the salesman showing a piece of each door the size of a slice of bread, when I saw the cheap one it was as thick as a slice of bread and glad I went for the composite one. If I had known about these steel doors I'd have bought them instead. The next doors I buy will be these steel ones

I've seen a video of people who add like 6 inch screws to screw the hinge into the frame and it making a substantial difference.

@@scrubscruby4112 And not the entire door, just the interior section of the door, the frame and hardware was still closed. I've never seen a front door that cheap, seems more like an interior door.
I watched this all the way through and liked it, mainly because I really respect how much effort this company went to for this promotional piece. The next door i buy will be from these fellas. What a smashing company and such a fun video

A nice quiet drill will defeat this. Install a steel door on your bedroom and keep a .45 at arm's reach if you don't want to be robbed in your sleep.
I have two of their doors already, and ordering a third one shortly when the building work is finished.
I have one as my front door, and one on my bedroom.
These doors are awesome, my builder wasn't overly happy fitting them though, he moaned how heavy they are🤣🤣🤣 but was very impressed after he got them in.
You wouldn't even be able to knock the wall out by the side of the doors in my house, as it's made out of solid concrete. No block work at all, and this stuff is more like steel than concrete. If I want to hang a picture I need a diamond tip drill bit just to drill a hole for the screw.
Even all the internal walls are solid concrete.
I've also fitted concertina security grills to all the windows.
The doors aren't badly priced for what you get. The front door came in at about £1200 and the internal door was around £700. A composite front door will easily cost the same as my front door. But I know which one I'd rather have protecting me.

Eddie, there is something you need to note, the flat face of the sledge had wider area, perfect fot nails, not walls but the other face of the sledgr can act as an axe and it is more aerodynamics. Or just use an axe
I doubt that there is a better way to show how confident you are in your product than to invite the worlds strongest man to come to your warehouse and attempt to destroy it with a 20lb sledgehammer. This is like the owner of that one bulletproof window company having someone shoot 7.62mm rounds at you while you're behind it. They have absolute confidence in their products.
This is quite possibly the best advert I've seen this year, did anyone else find it really enjoyable or is it just me!?
They should open that as a set to a gameshow and see how fast people can break through these doors, I would love to try this out it looks fun

I reckon 6 would be massive concrete cylinders that move into metal shackles and lock a 6-inch thick metal door that requires a pass code to enter.
It would be interesting to see LPL testing this to see if the lock is good or not.

To be fair, barely any burglar uses lockpicking to break in.
@@douwehuysmans5959 Have to agree, it makes way more sense to smash a door or window than to LARP Fallout 3 and pick the lock for 90% of people. Unless there's a shocking correlation between locksmiths and burglars, I just don't think the average burglar would even attempt the lock. I mean hell, not even specialized police and militaries bother to pick the locks, they just blast the hinges off the frame with special shotgun loads or use a ram.
