      However they have almost the minimum slots and is dirt cheap compared to the same ships with lower class in the same trading post. I got 4 tier s in the space of 20mins in the same trading post however none of those are usable. For example a S hauler with 30 inventory or 2 solar with 13 module slots

    Exocraft really useful as portable storage too.
    Also useful to hide from hazardous conditions providing you have the tech upgrade installed. Handy if there's no nearby building or cave, and saves you digging a hole to hide.
    Minotaur provides hazard protection as standard, without the need to install hazard protections.

    One thing I noticed with the new Aquarius update is that wanted pirates can randomly spawn when in space, and if you defeat them you can collect their bounty. It’s a very cool thing if you want to go with the “Cool Intergalactic Bounty Hunter” style of play.

    • @Default-Controller
      @Default-Controller 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Random pirate encounters in space (white skull icon on red diamond, "threat detected" warning) have been a thing for quite some time.
      Since outlaws, if I'm not mistaken.. which I could be if I'm honest. Could be even before outlaws?
      .
      Spawn rates seem to depend on your standing with the dominant race and conflict level of the system.
      High value items in your inventory seems to attract pirates too, in a similar way to contraband attracting sentinels via cargo scans.
      Spawn rates may have been tweaked with recent updates.
      Edit: I like using them to test out weapons.
      The random encounter pirates have ranks too

      @Default-Controller I don’t mean the pirate cargo scans that happen every now and then. I mean a real pirate ship with a bounty. It’ll be marked by a red diamond and it’ll be far away and you’ll have to reach it with your pulse drive.

      @@PietroSbardella yup, I know. These are what I was referring to as the random encounters.

    One thing about those C and B class sentinel ships other than their raw scrap value - some of them can have crazy good supercharged slot layouts when upgraded to S class. You're probably not going to be invested in doing this on a regular basis by any means, but if you find a ship you like the looks of but can't seem to find a good A or S class (or you found them and they have bad slot layouts), try upgrading some of the C and B class ones. Obviously this will take a lot of time, units, and nanites so it's more of an "end game" activity to do when all of those things are easier to have (tip - if you're playing in ultrarelaxed solo mode and don't mind cheesing the game a bit to get your perfect ship, just set your difficulty for free purchases and you can upgrade at no cost)

    May I also suggest utilizing multiple ships as extra storage? Newer players might not know that ship inventory, both tech and cargo, are bound to that ship. So you can have multiple ships with full inventory, and swap them out whenever you need. Sentinal ships likely start with a lot more cargo than most ships, if I'm not mistaken.

    Honestly don't waste resources and inventory in converting the goop. If you need nanites, you can simply fish and release the fish in water. This gives you tons of nanites.

    • @goodguysfree
      @goodguysfree  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Bottom line - fishing is better, but not by much, and you can't explore while you fish, but you can explore while you refine. Here are the gory details:
      So - I went to some place to fish. I used no bait, depth was about 18u. I waited until the line caught and pulled, and immediately cast again. I recorded what I was doing, and looked at the recording later. The result was 16 fish caught in 9 minutes and 38 seconds. I went into the water and released the fish I caught - it took me 34 seconds to release all of them. This produced 459 nanites in 10 minutes and 8 seconds, or 608 seconds. This is about 0.75 nanite/sec.
      500 residual goop takes 60 seconds to make 50 0Viscous Fluids.
      500 Viscous Fluids takes 60 seconds to make 500 Living slime.
      500 Living slime takes 60 seconds to make 500 runaway mould.
      500 runaway mould mould takes 60 seconds to produce 100 nanites.
      So, 500 residual good takes 240 seconds (let's add 4 seconds for switching and overhead) so 244 seconds to make 100 nanites. This comes to 0.4 nanite/sec - about half the speed.
      You decide.

    _Experience is earned by making mistakes, avoiding mistakes requires experience_ (Pretty sure Terry Pratchet said this, but im paraphrasing not quoting)
    Newer players remember - you can RELOAD your last save (usually the one that says Restore Point) to reverse some bad decisions you might have made
    You jump out of your ship (this triggers a Restore Point) you go buy a new multitool, amke a mistake, reload your save
    Autosaves often happen when something has just changed, OR roughly every minute, so if you just bought the wrong Multitool it might make a new autosave, this is why you reload the Restore point not the Auto
    Jump in and out of your ship often to make Saves whenever you want, also using any of the Save points near building, or the 2 craftable save (save beacon and save point), any of these 3 make Restore Point style saves
    Autosaves happen well automatically, so usually best not to reload these to undo mistakes

    • @goodguysfree
      @goodguysfree  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much for this detailed comment. It is long but contains numerous important details. I do believe that autosaves happen less than once a minute if you're idle. Normally I'd see up to 7-8 minutes of difference between the restore point time and the autosave time, so I'm guessing it's on the order of 10 minutes.
      Still, viewers can gain a lot by reading your comment.
