Oh I've been cooking this one for years, I can vouch for how incredibly delicious it is. It took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to truly understand mushrooms and how to prepare and cook them properly: more people need to be told about frying on high heat and not to be afraid of burning them. If you chicken out and cook mushrooms on a lower heat too much liquid comes out and they just turn mushy and lose all of their 'umami' flavour entirely. Another gem of a side dish Helen! I love to get YOUR tips and advice with everything and even with familiar recipes I learn something new from you, thus making an 'oldie but a goodie' even better. Champion.
My taste buds were tingling long before the video finished. Most of my family love mushrooms, we already know this one will be a bit hit. I do not say thank you to Helen often enough for presenting so many wonderful dishes at a skill level home-based cooks can follow. With love from the Philippines.

About four weeks ago I made kimchi from regular cabbage, it was fantastic! Today I was looking for a mushroom side dish to eat with my kimchi, and I found this recipe. It was unfortunate not to have shiitake mushrooms readily, so I used baby portobello mushrooms instead. Your mushroom side dish was the perfect accompaniment to my kimchi and was amazing! It came out more like a main dish than a side dish! Next time I make this recipe, I will add more mushrooms mixed with other wild mushrooms! Thank you, Helen!

looks great, as usual, thanks Helen! but I must say, scandal notwithstanding, I wash mushrooms, in water! my research has confirmed that they can be quickly washed, provided you dry them off promptly. I find this far more efficient, and I feel a lot better about eating less dirt! 😬
