United B787-10 Polaris Business and Premium Plus Review

- I traveled on United new Boeing 787-10 from Los Angeles to Newark in Polaris Business Class. This is a video review of United new 787-10 focus in Polaris Business Class and Premium Plus, United's new Premium Economy Class.
This video also showcase the new United Polaris Lounge at Newark.
Watch the video as it unfolds a few touching stories include a retirement of United mechanic after 32 years and a flight attendant sharing her life stories.
It is really nice to see United crew encourage such video making. They didn't know my presence in advance but they were quickly moved by my enthusiasm onboard. The nice crew have no issues of me filming in the galley and sharing their life stories. Captain Eric G really made my day! He was deadheading back to LA after we landed at EWR and offered me a walk around of the 787-10 with an escort!

@@yengsabio5315 he didn't ask explicitly but when I saw he use his hand cover his forehead, I know he care about his privacy thus his face is blurred.
Thank you for giving the retiring aircraft mechanic some time. We are often an afterthought and when we are usually seen, it usually involves a delay. However, our work is essential. Thanks Sam. United seems to have stepped up its game. Great access!

Gotta give credit where credit is due! United has really started to turn things around. That’s great that the pilot took you along for the walk around.
I concur this, I know it is really hard to be consistent when you have the size like United, but I am seeing far more positives lately.
How did Sam get security clearance to walk airside with the pilot?!

@@esitu5655 I think lots of the airline marketing departments know who Sam is at this point (at least they should) and know he has lots of followers so this is a great way to show off their product. Think of it as a restaurant giving a food critic a tour of their kitchen.
I envy you for your unprecedented access to various things, such as flight deck interviews, walk around inspection with the captain. But, I must admit, you have totally earned it through your vlogs. I don't miss your posts at all. Yet another good video/vlog.
I must say i was super lucky, they didn't know who i was in advance. The access is given on the day after the crew seeing how I enjoyed the flight. Read my comment on top.
I have to say I was very impressed with this cabin crew - friendly and accommodating. Big thanks also to the captain and first officer :-)
I love the fact that the cabin crew have a club where they can help each other out if there is a problem. 👍

I really enjoy your videos. I am a mechanic at the Boeing 787 plant in Charleston, and I love seeing the reaction of people who are riding on our aircraft. We ourselves usually don't get the opportunity to get on one of the planes after it has been fully assembled, so its the next best thing to watch your videos. We are the ONLY site in the world to produce the 787 dash 10's, and we Charleston ians take great pride in that. One day I will take my own family on one to some great destination soon on vacation when this covid19 mess clears up. Keep up the good work!!

Nice video showing off United's Polaris. The 787-10 is my favorite and their Polaris lounges are the best in the states. Very impressive onboard product (it's even better when you fly Polaris internationally) and their state of the art Newark hub is always my first choice into and out of NYC. AA and DL hope you're watching. You have some catching up to do.
Been a longtime flyer of Continental, and then United after the merger. They pissed me off royally recently, and I told them flat-out, I'm going over to your biggest competitor. Been with DL for several months and have tried their Delta One and Premium Select offerings on international trans-Pac flights. My opinion is that it's just as good if not better than Polaris, especially the seat. If anything, United had tons of catching up to do, especially now that I watch some of the older videos featuring DL flights and see they've been several notches higher for a while now.
@@tristanhnlissue with delta is there's zero consistency. Each plane has a different business class. The only thing Delta really clears united on is the catering, that's it
@@blitzkrieg634 nah. I've had my fill of polaris. There are several things they're decent with, but their staff, among other soft product offerings, kill it for them. Especially the chicago and newark crews, very hit or miss. I've said it repeatedly but I am sooooo glad I made the switch to delta. Much better than united.
There’s something heartwarming about seeing Sam talking and smiling with other people on the plane
I also flew the new B787-10 from LAX-EWR in mid-January (albeit in Economy Plus). As to be expected, the comfort level of the B787 was superb and I arrived in EWR feeling great. I feel more comfortable spending 8 hours in a 787 than 4 hours in any other aircraft. LA-NY is the most competitive route in the USA (maybe the world?) and this plane gives United a major leg-up in that race.
Also major props to the entertainment system. On other planes the seatback system can be sluggish but this one was slick and responsive with lots of choices.
Great flight and I will have booked the same plane again on my next LAX-EWR flight in March. May as well take advantage while this plane is still flying this route as I heard they are slated to move this to international routes eventually.

When I was working as aircraft fueler at LAX terminal 6 that was exactly the hospitality of the continental airlines. There is no airline like the continental airlines and people who work back then. I will always remember that, no matter how long ago that time was and how much more time will pass,0

Just flew united to Munich and was very pleased. Our flight attendance was so nice and made us the best bloody Mary’s and all the staff were very funny and accommodating!

Sam, you live in the lap of luxury :) The pilot and crew were awesome. That plane and engines were so quiet on takeoff and landing you could barely hear them. My Godfather worked for United for 33 years, at the SFO Maintenance Base (MRO/MBO) from the late 1950s to the early 1990s (becoming the welding and machine shop foreman in 1978). SFO was (and I think still is), the principal global maintenance base.

I love United! I have flown with it from Chicago to each of Brussels and Frankfurt, and, from Frankfurt to Washington and Munich to Chicago. I was one of the first into the Polaris lounge in O'Hare, and, cannot wait to be there again.

Hey Sam. Great video. I'm a massive fan. Gives good perspective for a frequent flier myself. I'm hoping you add the first pilots announcement "cabin crew please take your seats for landing"
Sam, they're actually staying on the United p.s. flights from Newark to San Francisco and Los Angeles even after they start doing international runs. One round trip per day to each destination will be the 78J, one round trip per day will continue to be the 772 and the remainder will be 752 eventually to be replaced by 7MJ.
I flew prem-plus on 777 from IAD-SFO yesterday. Definitely agree it's equiv to narrow-body domestic first product.
That lounge is the nicest thing in Newark

Great stuff with the Tech Crew! That engine is quiet on take-off! At 4.14 the FA offering you a meal sounded either Australian or a New Zealander? Perhaps South African ? I think its Kelly who made your breakfast. Fantastic access with the crew and the Captain. You were quoted in the Age newspaper in Melbourne today in regard to the 20 rules for long haul flights!! Food looks delicious. I remember till the 70s' United served delicious food in economy. Wow 2 meals!! Not bad. W ow the food in the Lounge has really improved!

Sam, I just flew on the A350-900 ULR on SQ from SIN to LAX and return. I was in Premium Economy and it was the best seat in my 30 years of flying. Given the chance I will always choose SQ. I used to be a long term United person but no more.

I scored a free upgrade to Polaris when heading home on a FRA>DEN UA 787-9... no premier status or upgrade request, just booked flight in Premium Plus. United sent me a text message with the good news & updated mobile boarding pass right as boarding started.

United's service on the ground looks better than the service on the air. Used to fly with United for years, they lost me and Im not going back. Delta has a much better service, lounges, and food. Great video!

I love watching your videos!!! I am a UNITED fan and only fly United Polaris. I think they have the best seats, and their partner Swiss also, as they have 1 2 1 configuration and the thrones as they call in Business are amazing but they do charge $150 to reserve. But well worth it. THANK YOU. George

Last year, I attended the DO at IAD. I must say that I did manage to scrape some money to buy items in a raffle that supports the The Cause Foundation. In the end, someone of my same first name who works at United (he knows who he is!) decided to exchange his United swag with my corporate and The Pentagon swag. It was awesome. Hopefully, he has returned to Cosmos Cafe at the Wiehle Reston Metro Station. Taco salad every Monday for lunch! :-D

the Polaris lounges are probably the best business class lounges in the world. They just opened one at LAX not too long ago and I will be checking it out before my flight to Korea. Gotta walk to terminal 7 from tom Bradley but I think its worth it.
I noticed they put up a Happy Chinese New Year poster next to your seat, that's an amazing attention to detail. Hope I can experience the Polaris plane one day!
