After 5 months in the US I was finally able to fly home, with Lufthansa B747-8 in First Class! This is the first of A 2 part episode that focuses on my Lufthansa First Class flight from LA to Frankfurt. Lufthansa fortunately retained most of their service standards and are still operating the Boeing 747.
Check out what's changed in the current situation with international long-haul travel. I discuss whether current air travel is safe inside the video. Is First Class still the same and the best way to travel?

Wow the attendants are so attentive and casual, yet still maintaining top level of professionalism. Lufthansa is amazing I'm so impressed
I realize with Lufthansa, even your're more junior you can have opportunity to work in premium cabins, they have a more fair rotation than fixed position.
I guess I will choose Lufthansa over KLM when it is possible to fly with their 747-8. Would be a Dutch betrayal but it’s KLM’s fault they did not order this majestic queen.
Sam Chui it’s interesting that all my life flying lufthansa, I can’t think of any flight attendant that had an attitude towards me. They’ve been always professional and fantastic.

There is museum in Speyer which is collaborating with Sinsheim, in Speyer, they have a 747-200 (Lufthansa livery) an antonov an-22 etc.

It’s first class. Every airlines’ crew in first class is like that. If you wish to compare, economy is the right way to do it. And in my personal experience Qatar Airways crew is best in Economy class.

Lufthansa are awesome. Service was so good that when we landed in Lagos I didnt want to leave the plane. German hospitality is legendary!

The crew, and the airline more broadly, seem to be working so hard to provide a comfortable, premium experience within the constraints of the virus. It’s all about a can-do attitude. Your altitude is a function of your attitude! Great to see a Sam Chui flying video again. It reminds me that the World hasn’t stopped!

Man, I remember Lufthansa from when I was a kid, used to visit India almost every summer and we would use Lufthansa on the European route. Really good airline. Lufthansa and Cathay Pacific are like my childhood airlines lmao.

As a former First Class Flight Attendant with Lufthansa I still feel very honoured that you have chosen Lufthansa for your flight back home.
I could have never imagined that one day the entire aviation to drop by almost 90 % due to a pandemic when I left Lufthansa 5 years ago to enjoy my early retirement scheme.
But I think that no one could have!
I experienced many crisis during my time with Lufthansa from 1982 - 2015, terror threats, Gulf wars and 9/11 just to name a few.
But such a severe impact on the entire industry?
Never!
I hope that science will find a vaccine soon to end this horror.

OMG!! this brings back memories when kids were allowed in the cockpit. I remember the stewardess coming to my seat to take me and meet the pilots!! It was a British Airways 747-400!! Amazing!!

One lady in the movie "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" said the whole thing is actually tremendously exciting, not just getting on the plane but getting on the plane and turning left - "First Class".
In my 25 years as a consultant on the road, I have been lucky enough to get upgraded to first (domestic only). I have never been in first class on an international flight. I cannot believe how different it is up front vs in the back with the rest of the cattle (like me). That is just amazing. She is making his bed!! I cannot imagine how wonderful that must be...

The Queen of the Skies always will be. No airplane is like this beauty. I had a reservation to flight to Germany this Spring, but as can you imagine I coudn’t. I choose Lufthansa because of the 747-8. I am trying to move this reservation for 2021. I hope the Queen of the Skies will be flying to Mexico City to have the opportunity to try this amazing airplane. Thanks Sam to share this experience with us. Cheers from Mexico City.

Good Observations. Obviously they're happy to be in my vlog camera. I think the other 3 First Class passengers were really happy with the flight as well, it hasn't been easy for all of us so we all massively enjoyed.

This video brings back great memories for me. I flew for the first time in a 747, flying to Spain in 2009.
It was on a Lufthansa 747-400 flying from LAX to Frankfurt, Germany on the first leg of the flight.
I enjoyed the flight very much, Lufthansa is definitely a great airline.
I was very surprised after I arrived back in California from my trip. I watched a documentary that talked about the airport in Frankfurt, Germany telling about it being where the Hindenburg and other airships were based out of. I had no idea until seeing the documentary, I thought it was very interesting. Even though I only got to see Frankfurt and Germany from the air, it was very green and beautiful there. I would definitely enjoy spending time visiting there sometime.

Best video I've ever seen from Sam. It is sooo different to the others from Emirates or Etihad, showing the humanity of german crew and Lufthansa trained staff. Selling german cosiness, and being totally 'bodenstandig', so down-to-Earth, you're not being pampered like a Pascha but more like a guest in a german 'Kneipe'. Cool feeling and nice footage. It's so good to see you back in the sky Sam. I've flown a few times since the US quarantine began and even in First or Business Class, things just aren't the same. Hopefully, one day, the US domestic carriers will get back to a decent standard of service.

I used to be a front office executive in a 5* hotel which used to accommodate Lufthansa with few other Airlines. To be honest, Lufthansa's crews are much more comfortable and professional to have them as a guest. I love doing night shift just because of them only and we would be so excited whenever they were staying over with us. I think i still can recall some of the crews names as well.. Ohh, i miss all those days 😔.

Big Whoop I agree. Flew with them when I was a frequent traveler to Europe. Always great cabin service and the airfares was reasonable. I usually flew from LAX to FRA or MUC.

I actually bought that 747 sticker at the Boeing store in Chicago in 2018! I still have it on my fridge along with a 727 and 767.
Wow you’re still flying during these times👍 I can see the entire approach pattern for LAX from my house. Normally on any given moment I can see a dozen or so planes lined up for landing. Now I’m lucky if I can spot 1 or 2.

I flew Lufthansa (747) for the first time last October on my way to Budapest connnecting in Frankfurt. (Atlanta-Washington D.C.- Frankfurt-Budapest) It was a wonderful experience. I purposely chose this flight when I noticed it would be a 747, and I had previously read the 747 may soon leave. I am glad that I did. I agree with your flight attendant, wearing a mask for long periods is really exhausting, and it's hard to speak and hear as well. It really just messes everything up. I pray that we can soon get rid of them for good.
