One of my friends is a big VW 1.8T guy and he’s currently building a big turbo 2.1L Stroker for his mk4 Jetta. He’s been trying to convince me to do a TDI conversion on one of my trucks but honestly, I think a Turbo VR6 RWD setup in my bagged 5 speed ‘91 Chevy S10 would be way cooler. I have a lot of experience with American Engines and American trucks so my VW knowledge is quite limited currently. I have plenty of time to learn tho as my frame is currently in the sandblasting/powder coating phase. Thank you very much for helping me with my research. Best wishes.

    My mk3 vrt:
    Turbo Kit- $5500
    VEMS Standalone(Used)- $1000
    Arp head studs- $250
Arp rod bolts- $160-180 ish(can’t remember)
    Schimmel Performance SRI(Used)- $780
    Clutch Masters Fx500- $650
    Ebay FPR- $80
    Tial Q50 BOV- $240
    BFI Stage 2 mounts- $300
    Siemens 630 Injectors- $300
    Quaife Diff- $900+
    Walbro 450 Pump- $130
    AEM Tru Boost- $250
    AEW Wideband- $175
Then the install was about $6500. It was cheaper than usual because I was in good with the guys at the shop I went to. Got plenty of work done prior to boosting it.

Dammit what am I doing here? Yesterday I comment in a car group about how my old chipped mk3 vr Jetta could pull on the impala SS 260hp v8. Some v8 guy call me b.s. after those days I did put on a turbo. 361hp on stock block. No failure on c2 stage 2 chip. So now I’m watching vr turbo content and your post got me wanting to build another. I have a B9 allroad and a mk5 GLi so maybe a 3.2 swap into the GLi will satisfy what I’m missing. Following your build now. Make me proud.

@@jeremybriand5196 I bought it from it from goo net in 2018. I imported it myself but paid some brokerage fees so some of the work was done for me. Still had to go to a local office in person to pickup the papers and pickup the car from a local car dock with A to B insurance papers before working on the car to make the changes and repairs necessary for an out of province inspection. Europe is harder to export a vehicle. The hard part is finding a trust worthy company and then the shipping is double what it is from Japan even if you're on the east coast. Vehicles over in Europe are also more clapped and have higher price tags usually.

Hey bro, I know the vids a bit old but I need a lil help here from someone that obviously knows what they’re doing.
I’ve got a ‘03 GTI with a 2.8L 24V VR6 with a little over 114k miles. Seen a lot of stuff about being able to run in the 500’s for horsepower on a completely stock motor with just a head spacer safely. But I’ve seen the head spacer is mainly for turbo builds.
I don’t have the spare cash to add a turbo but would like some extra power. Is it safe for me to get a head spacer installed and then tune it for daily driving? As in pump gas 93.
Or would it be best to just tune it with no head spacer for daily driving? And what horsepower figure should I aim for on a tune that’s completely safe on a full stock motor and transmission?
I know you’re no professional but opinions from someone who’s done a lot with their car are better than scouring through old builds with old info from people who say this or that without any real proof.

    • @thirdgeargrind
      @thirdgeargrind  2 ปีที่แล้ว

The head spacer is to lower compression for boost so if you're not turbo charging it it's best to stay stock compression. You will lose power NA with a head spacer even if you tune for it. For NA and extra power, you're not going to gain a whole lot but you can do cams and a tune. It'll add about 25hp with both mods. Check out CO motorsports where they showed off a full 3.2 NA Audi TT build going from a unitronic to a united motorsports tune.
