About 45 years ago, we set the nozzles with a nickel ($.05). The "rule of thumb" was: The electrodes were set at the width of the nickel apart, the width of the nickel over and in front of the nozzle. The boilers were always filthy (good if it was white silt and bad if it was too rich with black soot), and the makeup boiler water was adjusted by hand using a sight glass. Each radiator had to be blead individually. Wow how times have changed!

Always good info. Glad I don't have an oil burner to deal with. Rarely a problem with the propane furnace. Thank goodness lol. I hate being cold lol
